Need help with Spanish SDI from California EDD - options?
Hey everyone, I'm trying to get help with California EDD State Disability Insurance (SDI) but I'm having trouble. Does anyone know if they offer assistance in Spanish? I'm not seeing it listed anywhere and I'm not sure where to turn. Any advice would be really appreciated!

Yes, they do offer SDI services in Spanish! I had to navigate this a few months ago. If you call the main SDI number, there should be an option to continue in Spanish. Just be prepared for a long wait time 😫

Thank you so much! I'll give that a try. Did you have any issues with the Spanish-speaking representatives understanding your situation?

Nah, they were pretty good actually. Just make sure you have all your docs ready before you call. It'll save you a headache later, trust me 👍

Ugh, the wait times are brutal tho. I was on hold for like 2 hours last time I called EDD 🙄

Pro tip: use the online portal if you can. It has a Spanish option and you might be able to avoid calling altogether. Saved me a ton of time!

I didn't even think about the online portal! Is it easy to navigate? My computer skills aren't the best lol

It's pretty user-friendly! They have step-by-step instructions. If you get stuck, there's usually a 'help' button on each page. You got this! 💪

Guys, I found a way to get someone on the phone without the crazy wait times. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. 20 bucks? Idk man, seems kinda steep just to make a phone call.

I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo. Plus, you can use it for other govt agencies too.

Have you tried reaching out to local community organizations? Some non-profits offer free assistance with navigating SDI in Spanish. Might be worth looking into!

Here's a comprehensive guide for navigating SDI in Spanish: 1. Online Portal: Visit the EDD website and look for the 'Español' option in the top right corner. This will translate the entire site. 2. Phone Support: Call 1-866-658-8846 for Spanish assistance. Best times to call are early morning or late afternoon. 3. Forms: Most SDI forms are available in Spanish. Request them specifically if they're not offered. 4. In-person Help: Some EDD offices have Spanish-speaking staff. Check your local office. 5. Community Resources: Look for local non-profits or legal aid societies that offer free SDI assistance in Spanish. Remember to have all your documents ready, including your Social Security number, employment history, and medical certification. Don't give up if you hit roadblocks - persistence is key with these systems. Good luck!
