SDI Phone Nightmare: How to Actually Reach a Real Person at California EDD?
Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my California EDD State Disability Insurance (SDI) and I'm not sure what to do. I've been trying to get through to someone on the phone for days but no luck. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to actually talk to a real person? I'm getting desperate here!

Regarding your issue, I recommend trying Claimyr, a service that specializes in connecting users with hard-to-reach government agencies, including EDD. It does cost around $20, but many have found it effective. While it's unfortunate that such services are necessary, they can be a practical solution if you're in a bind. However, it's also important to continue advocating for system improvements that make these services less necessary. Consider the tips you've already been given, like calling during off-peak hours or seeking help from your assembly member. Balancing these strategies could increase your chances of reaching a representative. Don't lose hope; persistence often pays off in these situations.

Guys, I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit or some kind of scam?

I get the skepticism, but it's 100% legit. I was desperate and took a chance. Got through to an agent in about 2 hours. Worth every penny for me.

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken.

I hear ya, it sucks that we have to pay. But for me, it was worth it to finally get my issue resolved. Time is money, ya know?

It's unfortunate that such services are even necessary. EDD should prioritize fixing their system so people don't have to resort to paying third parties.

Anyone else feel like they're playing a game of chance every time they call EDD? It's like, "Congrats! You've won... another hour on hold!" π°π

I'd rather play actual slots. At least then I might win something π

A game of chance is exactly what it feels like! They need to make it less of a gamble to get assistance.

Has anyone else noticed that the EDD website is always "down for maintenance" when you actually need to use it? It's like they're trolling us at this point π€‘

Welcome to the club, buddy. EDD's phone system is like a black hole - calls go in, but nothing ever comes out π³οΈ I've been trying for weeks to get someone on the line. It's beyond frustrating.

Weeks? Try months! I swear they must have like 2 people working the phones for the entire state π

Ugh, that's rough. I guess I should brace myself for a long wait then. This system is so broken.

Exactly! It's like they haven't modernized since the 90s. So many people need help, yet it's almost impossible to get through.

Pro tip: If you're gonna be on hold for hours, might as well make it productive. I've started learning Spanish while waiting. Yo hablo EDD frustraciΓ³n π€πͺπΈ

I feel your pain, OP. Have you tried calling right when they open? I heard that's the best time to get through.

Yeah, I've tried that. Set my alarm for 7:55 AM and started dialing at 8:00 on the dot. Still no luck π

Early bird doesn't always catch the worm with EDD, apparently. What a joke.

You'd think they'd have more staff during opening hours to handle this, but nope. It's just chaos.

Has anyone tried sending a carrier pigeon to EDD? Might be faster than their phone system at this point π¦π¬

Tried it. Pigeon got lost in the bureaucratic maze. Poor little guy π’

Maybe we should try smoke signals next? π₯π¨ Can't be worse than what we're dealing with now!

We've reached a point where pigeons feel like a plausible solution. Hope EDD gets their act together soon.

Update: Still haven't gotten through π I'm starting to think it'd be easier to learn to code and fix their system myself than to actually talk to someone. Anyone wanna start a bootcamp? π

Lol I'm in! We could probably build a better system with duct tape and string at this point

Okay, listen up. I've been through this rodeo before and I've got some tips that might help: 1. Call during off-peak hours. Try mid-afternoon on a Tuesday or Wednesday. 2. Have all your info ready before you call. They'll ask for your SSN, claim number, etc. 3. Be persistent. If you get a busy signal, hang up and redial immediately. 4. Use the online portal if possible for simple issues. Sometimes you can resolve things without calling. 5. If you do get through, be super nice to the rep. They deal with angry people all day. 6. Consider reaching out to your local assembly member's office. They can sometimes intervene on your behalf. Hope this helps! Don't give up, you'll get through eventually.
