Accidentally ordered CalWorks callback instead of CalFresh - How to switch or get refund?

I accidentally ordered a callback for CalWorks instead of CalFresh. I already paid for the CalWorks call, but I really need to talk to CalFresh. Has anyone else made this mistake? Is there a way to switch the call or get a refund? I don't want to pay twice for calls to different departments.

Ugh, that sucks! I've done something similar before. Unfortunately, I don't think there's an easy way to switch the call once it's been placed. You might have to bite the bullet and pay for another call to CalFresh. It's frustrating, but sometimes these systems are just not flexible enough to handle mistakes like this.

Yeah, its a real pain. The whole system is so rigid and unforgiving. One little mistake and your stuck paying twice 🙄

Maybe try calling CalWorks anyway and explain the situation? They might be able to transfer you to CalFresh or at least give you some advice.

I found a method to get someone on the phone quickly. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's the link: https://claimyr.com

Sounds too good to be true. How does it actually work? Is it legit?

Idk man, $20 seems steep just to make a phone call. Can't we just keep trying for free?

I get the skepticism, but it really did work for me. The $20 was worth it to avoid hours on hold. They use some kind of automated system to navigate the phone tree and wait on hold so you don't have to.

Has anyone else tried this? Kinda tempted but wanna make sure it's not a scam 👀

It's definitely not a scam. I've used it twice now. Sure, $20 isn't cheap, but think about how much your time is worth. For me, not spending hours on hold was totally worth it.

This is why the whole system is broken. We shouldn't have to jump through hoops or pay extra just to talk to someone about our benefits. It's ridiculous!

Preach! 🙌 The government needs to get its act together and make these services actually accessible.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Don't panic. Mistakes happen. 2. Try calling the CalWorks number you already paid for. Explain the situation to the agent. 3. Ask if they can transfer you to CalFresh or provide a direct number. 4. If they can't help, request a refund for the misdirected call. 5. As a last resort, you may need to pay for another call to CalFresh. 6. In the future, double-check which department you're calling before confirming. 7. Consider writing down the correct numbers for each department to avoid mix-ups. Remember, persistence is key when dealing with these agencies. Don't give up!

Thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely follow these steps. Really appreciate you taking the time to lay it all out like this.

This is solid advice. I'd add that keeping a log of all your calls (date, time, who you spoke to) can be super helpful if you need to follow up or dispute anything later.

Have you tried reaching out to them on social media? Sometimes tweeting at the official accounts can get a faster response.

This! I got a response within an hour when I tweeted at my state's benefits account. Worth a shot!
