Accidentally selected Disability instead of PFL on benefits website. How to fix without paying again?
I accidentally selected the wrong option when trying to contact my state's benefits office. I meant to choose Paid Family Leave but ended up selecting Disability by mistake. Has anyone else had this issue? Is there a way to change it without having to pay again? Any advice would be appreciated!

Ugh, that sucks! I've done something similar before. Unfortunately, most government websites are not very user-friendly. You might have to call them directly to sort it out. Be prepared for a long wait time tho 😫

Yep, been there done that. The hold times are insane these days. Last time I called, I was on hold for over 3 hours!

Pro tip: call right when they open. You'll still wait, but not as long.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

I was skeptical at first too, but it really worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

20 bucks tho? Thats kinda steep for just a phone call 😬

I get it, but for me, it was worth not having to sit by my phone all day. Time is money, ya know?

Have you tried logging back into your account? Sometimes there's an option to edit or cancel a submission within 24 hours. Might be worth checking!

This is why I always screenshot every step when I'm dealing with government websites. It's saved my butt more than once when I needed to prove what I submitted. lesson learned for next time, I guess 🤷♂️

That's actually a really good idea. I'll definitely start doing that from now on!

Preach! 🙌 It's like they want us to mess up so they don't have to pay out benefits.

Nah, never attribute to malice what can be explained by incompetence. The system just sucks.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Don't panic. This happens more often than you'd think. 2. Try to log back in and see if there's an option to edit your submission. Some systems allow changes within 24-48 hours. 3. If that doesn't work, call the office directly. Be prepared with your claim number and all relevant info. 4. Explain the situation calmly. Most reps are understanding if you're polite. 5. If the phone lines are jammed, try reaching out via email or their online contact form. Keep your message clear and concise. 6. As a last resort, you might need to submit a new application. Ask if they can waive the fee given the circumstances. 7. In the future, always double-check before submitting and take screenshots of each step. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up if the first person you talk to can't help. Sometimes you need to speak to a supervisor or a different department. Good luck!
