anybody know if the p-ebt is the same as the calfresh? my neighbor says were supposed to get both but i only get calfresh on my ebt card
No, they're different programs. CalFresh is your regular monthly food benefits. P-EBT is specifically to replace school meals when children can't access them (started during COVID but has continued in some forms). You can receive both, but they come on separate cards, and P-EBT is issued directly to eligible children.
@OP any updates? Were you able to get this fixed? I'm dealing with the same issue and going in circles with these people!
Yes! Some good news actually! I went to the school yesterday with all their documents and the lunch program coordinator found the problem. Turns out they had our old address from when we moved last year, and the P-EBT system was rejecting the records because of the address mismatch with what's in the CalWORKs system. She updated it in their database and said it should sync within 10 days. She gave me a direct number to call if we don't receive the cards in 3 weeks. Might be worth checking if your address info is consistent across all systems!
I've used this service too. Much better than trying to wait on hold during work hours. Just make sure when you do get through, you specifically ask for a "household composition review" and explain that you all purchase and prepare food together. Be prepared with your parents' case number too, as they'll need to reference both cases.
Update: I took everyone's advice and called about combining our cases. It took forever to get through (wish I'd seen that Claimyr suggestion earlier!), but I finally got someone helpful. They're reviewing our case to combine everyone into one household since we do all eat together. The worker said our benefit should increase significantly - instead of $23 for me/daughter and about $120 for my parents, we should get around $380 for all four of us! Thanks everyone for helping me understand this wasn't about adding my daughter to their case, but fixing how our household was set up in the first place!
That's fantastic news! $380 vs. $143 combined is a huge difference that will make a real impact. This is exactly how the system should work - benefits that actually help feed the household. So glad you got someone helpful who fixed the issue. Be sure to complete your next SAR-7 report on time with all household income included to keep the benefits flowing smoothly.
UPDATE: Just wanted to let everyone know I finally got through using that Claimyr service someone mentioned. Turns out there was a system glitch where my SAR7 was received but my verification documents weren't attached properly (even though they showed as uploaded on my end). The worker was able to see my submission date and reattached my documents. My benefits should be reinstated within 3 business days and they're issuing the payment I missed! Don't give up if this happens to you - keep trying to reach someone and make sure you have your submission confirmation ready to prove you did everything on time.
This is great news! The warehouse management certification is perfect since it builds on his current experience. Make sure he keeps all his pay stubs and gets his work hours verified monthly using the WTW hours verification form. And congratulations on getting everything sorted out - this is exactly how the program is supposed to work when the communication issues get fixed!

•That's good to hear! I actually have 4 kids plus the pregnancy (so 5 currently, soon to be 6 total), but it sounds like we might still qualify based on what everyone is saying.

One more thing to consider - you mentioned transitional CalFresh just ended. If you were receiving CalWORKs before and that's why you were on transitional CalFresh, make sure you complete your Semi-Annual Report (SAR 7) for CalWORKs on time if you're still receiving it. Those deadlines can be different from your CalFresh recertification. Many families miss this and lose benefits unnecessarily.

•We actually were on CalWORKs about 8 months ago but my husband got this better paying job so we became ineligible. That's when they switched us to transitional CalFresh. I think we're completely off CalWORKs now, but I'll double check our paperwork to make sure we didn't miss anything!
