When do supplemental CalFresh benefits post in Tehama County? Homeless and locked out of EBT app

Been waiting all day for my extra CalFresh benefits to load on my EBT card. I'm currently homeless in Tehama County and literally just want to get a sandwich from the gas station. I've checked my balance on the providers app so many times today that it locked me out and now I have to reset my password, which is a whole process when you don't have reliable internet. Does anyone know what time the supplemental benefits usually post here? Different counties seem to have different schedules. Really hungry and frustrated right now.

in tehama they usually post between 6-11 pm on your regular deposit day. but sometimes it takes until midnight. which extra benefits r u talking about? the regular monthly ones or something special?

The CalFresh emergency supplement they approved for me last week. I got the text saying it was approved but nothing's on my card yet. It's almost 7pm now so maybe it'll show up soon. Thanks for the info!

The emergency supplemental benefits usually post in Tehama County between 6-11pm, but I've noticed they sometimes don't appear until after midnight on your scheduled day. The schedule is determined by the last digit of your case number. If your card shows nothing by tomorrow morning, I'd recommend calling the county office at 530-527-1911 to check your status. They can tell you exactly when it was processed on their end. Also, if you're homeless, ask about the Restaurant Meals Program that allows you to purchase prepared food at certain locations with your EBT.

Thank you!! Didn't know about that Restaurant Meals Program. That would be amazing since I don't have cooking facilities. Will definitely ask when I call tomorrow if nothing posts tonight.

Ikr?? Last month I got locked out for a WEEK because I couldn't remember which email I used to sign up. Had to go physically to the office to reset it.

If you're unable to access your EBT account, you can also call the California EBT customer service at 1-877-328-9677. They can tell you your current balance without needing to log into the app. The line is open 24/7. That's what I do when the app isn't working for me.

I tried that number but got stuck in the automated system for like 20 minutes and gave up. Maybe I'll try again though, thanks.

When I was having trouble reaching someone at Tehama County for my CalFresh benefits, I found a service called Claimyr that really helped. They get you through to a live person at the county office without having to wait on hold. Just go to claimyr.com and they'll call you when they have a worker on the line. There's a video showing how it works at https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8. Saved me hours of frustration when I had a similar emergency situation with my benefits not posting.

Never heard of that before. Is it legit? Might be worth trying if I can't get through tomorrow. Anything's better than waiting on hold for hours just to get disconnected.

Totally legit. I used it twice when my recertification was pending and my benefits were about to lapse. They actually got me through to a worker in about 20 minutes when I'd been trying for days on my own.

Just to clarify some misinformation here - Tehama County doesn't participate in the Restaurant Meals Program (RMP) as of 2025. Only certain counties in California offer this program (like LA, San Francisco, Santa Clara, etc.). So unfortunately you won't be able to use your EBT for prepared foods in Tehama County. However, if you're experiencing homelessness, you might qualify for expedited CalFresh services, which should process within 3 days instead of the normal 30. Have you already applied for the homeless exemption? This can increase your benefit amount substantially.

Oh that's disappointing about the restaurant program. Thanks for letting me know before I embarrassed myself asking about it. I did get the expedited services when I applied last month - that's how I got approved for the emergency supplement I'm waiting on. They told me I qualified for the homeless maximum but didn't explain when it would actually be available to use.

I'll definitely check at midnight. Starting to think that might be the case. Just hard to stay up that late when you're already hungry, you know?

Update us if your benefits post! Emergency supplements should be prioritized in the system, especially for those experiencing homelessness. If they don't appear by tomorrow morning, I'd recommend going directly to the Tehama County HHSA office in Red Bluff if you can. Sometimes in-person visits get faster results than phone calls for urgent situations.

Good news! My benefits finally posted at 11:48pm. Got my sandwich and some other food that'll last me a few days. Thanks everyone for the help and advice!

That's great to hear! Glad you got your benefits and some food. For future reference, you might want to note the exact day and time they posted this month, as it often follows the same pattern each month.

So glad to hear your benefits finally came through! I'm new to this community but have been dealing with CalFresh issues in LA County. It's really helpful to see how different counties handle the timing - sounds like Tehama is pretty consistent with that late evening posting schedule. Thanks for updating us with the good news, and I hope things improve for your housing situation soon. This thread has been really informative about the timing patterns across different counties.
