Walmart Plus stopped accepting EBT for online CalFresh orders - anyone else having this issue?

I've been using my CalFresh EBT card for Walmart Plus deliveries for months with no issues. But for the last 3 weeks, whenever I try to checkout online, I get this message saying "use another form of payment" even though my balance is fine. When I called CalFresh, they confirmed my benefits are active - I can literally walk into any Walmart store and use my EBT card no problem. I contacted Walmart customer service and all they said was "it's an ongoing issue we're working on" but gave no timeline. What's the point of paying for Walmart Plus if I can't use my benefits for delivery? I have mobility issues which is why I got the subscription in the first place. Anyone else experiencing this? Is there some new policy I don't know about or is this just a technical glitch?

same thing happening to me!! its super frustrating bc i have 3 kids and no car. walmart plus delivery was the ONLY reason i could get all my groceries using my calfresh. now i have to take 2 buses to get to the store and can only buy what i can carry home. called walmart 4 times and keep getting different answers.

What kind of answers are they giving you? I'm getting desperate because I've wasted money on this subscription that's basically useless to me now.

This is actually a system-wide issue that many CalFresh recipients are experiencing with Walmart Plus right now. What's happening is Walmart updated their payment processing system in late January, and it's causing compatibility issues with the EBT payment gateway. According to their official statement (I work for a community resource center), they expect it to be resolved by mid-March. In the meantime, you might want to try Amazon Fresh if it's available in your area - they're still accepting EBT for online orders. Also, some local grocery chains have started accepting EBT for delivery through Instacart.

Thank you for this information! It's the first clear answer I've gotten. I'll check out Amazon Fresh - I didn't realize they accepted EBT too. Mid-March seems like a long time to wait though...

I'm having the exact same problem!!! It's so frustrating because I specifically signed up for Walmart+ because they advertised EBT acceptance for delivery. I've tried calling Walmart customer service 5 times and get disconnected or transferred around. One rep even told me "we never accepted EBT online" which is a complete lie because I've been using it for months! Has anyone found a workaround? I'm wondering if maybe there's some new verification step we're missing?

0 coins

they did same to me. rep told me "only snap eligible items" can be ordered but then why wont it let me check out AT ALL with ebt? makes no sense

0 coins

This is absolutely ridiculous! Walmart+ advertises EBT acceptance as a major feature of their service, and now they're just canceling it with no warning? I've been on hold with them for HOURS trying to get answers. One rep told me it was a "temporary system upgrade" but it's been going on for weeks. I've reported them to the USDA SNAP retailer complaint line (1-866-866-9188) because they're discriminating against low-income families who depend on these services. I recommend everyone do the same - the more complaints they get, the faster this will be fixed. Walmart needs to either fix their system or give us all refunds for the subscription we can no longer use!

0 coins

I didn't know there was a SNAP retailer complaint line! I'll definitely call them. You're right that this feels discriminatory - we're paying the same subscription fee as everyone else but getting fewer services.

Have you guys tried using Claimyr to get through to someone at CalFresh who might have more info? I was dealing with a similar issue (not Walmart specifically, but another EBT online issue) and spent days trying to reach someone at my county office. A friend recommended Claimyr.com and they got me connected to an actual person at my county CalFresh office in about 15 minutes. The worker told me that sometimes the state has to recertify retailers for online EBT acceptance and Walmart might be going through that process. You can see how it works here: https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8 Might be worth a try if you're getting nowhere with Walmart.

i never heard of this but im gonna try it!! ive been trying to get thru to my county worker for 2 weeks about this + another issue with my benefits amount

I want to clarify some misinformation in this thread. This isn't just a Walmart issue - it's related to a scheduled update in California's EBT online purchasing system. The update was scheduled for January but has taken longer than expected to implement. Here are the facts: 1) California is upgrading their EBT online purchasing system to improve security and expand retailer options 2) During the transition, some retailers are experiencing temporary issues with EBT processing 3) The official completion date has been extended to March 17, 2025 4) You can still use EBT in-store at all authorized retailers 5) Some retailers (Amazon, Safeway, some Vons locations) have already completed the update and are working properly If you've paid for Walmart+ specifically for EBT delivery, you can request a prorated refund for the affected time period. I recommend calling your county CalFresh office for the most accurate information about this transition.

Thank you for this detailed information! I'm still frustrated, but at least now I understand what's happening. Do you know if there's any official notice about this somewhere? I'd like to show it to Walmart when I ask for my refund.

i use instacart with my ebt works fine no problems

Which stores can you order from on Instacart with EBT? I tried it once but the selection was limited in my area.

Update: I finally got through to a supervisor at Walmart after threatening to report them to the BBB. She confirmed it's a system-wide issue affecting all California EBT users on their platform. Apparently, they're having to update their system to comply with new California EBT processing requirements. She offered me a 3-month extension on my Walmart+ membership as compensation. You might want to try calling and asking specifically for a supervisor and mentioning the compensation I received!

0 coins

That's actually really helpful! I'm going to call them back and ask for the same compensation. 3 months free would at least make up for this inconvenience. Thanks for the update!

Just want to share an official update: I attended a county CalFresh stakeholder meeting yesterday where this issue was discussed. The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) confirmed they're working with Walmart and other retailers on the EBT online purchasing transition. They recommend: 1. Try alternative retailers that have completed the update (Amazon Fresh, Safeway, Albertsons) 2. Contact your county office if you need accommodation due to disability or transportation issues - they may be able to arrange delivery alternatives 3. If you paid for Walmart+ specifically for EBT use, document your attempts to use the service and request a refund They expect most retailers to be fully operational by mid-March. If you're experiencing hardship because of this issue, make sure to tell your caseworker - they might be able to connect you with additional resources during the transition.

I'm having the same problem in Louisiana since April 5th of this year Walmart has refused to take my EBT card for online orders claiming it's a technical issue asking for my PIN to check a balance I put it in the correct pin and it tells me it's the wrong pin well after you do that three times then it comes up with some weird 489,000 some odd hours minutes before you can use it again saying that it's a technical issue. I have called and reported it several times during the month each time and they say they're going to send me an email back but they never do The only email I get is how was your conversation with whoever you talk to The IT team or whoever was supposed to give me an email and tell me what's going on with the issue each time they're telling me that it's going to be fixed in 24 hours and I receive no response back and nothing is done It is now May 5th and it continues this is the second month that I cannot purchase online orders through Walmart and I also have the year subscription to Walmart Plus and bought it for that purpose to get deliveries it would seem that technical issues generally calls problems and make revenue go down however this one is making revenue go up for Walmart because now the only orders are credit card orders bringing money into the company while the EBT people who only get milk here or small item there could easily override the delivery driver's ability to get to everyone in a day and you would have to prioritize those that have credit card orders over EBT orders if you wanted money coming into the company however they're supposed to be doing it equal it doesn't matter if you just buy milk you should receive that milk you shouldn't have it canceled and say you got a reorder it. It just appears that this could be something they're doing on purpose to make money here it is April the first financial quarter money must be going down or they're worried about tariff so they cut out the EBT people from delivery so that it increases their revenue cuz all orders are now credit card orders EBT does not bring very much money into the company. I would love to give Walmart credit and hope that it's just some weird technical issue but once again technical issues are problems that usually decrease revenue and they're fixed very fast this is making them increase revenue and they're fixing it extremely slow I don't even know that they're going to fix it meanwhile we've had four months of working EBT orders who's going to say that they're not going to continue this to the end of the year. As long as people don't stand up unify and start complaining to the better Business bureau they probably would attempt that.

0 coins

@Nothing Satisfy Me But Your Soul this isn t just one state having'an issue with Walmart taking the EBT cards this is several states having this issue that dramatically increases the amount of revenue they re making taking out EBT'orders for deliveries and forcing only credit card orders to be allowed during this technical issue that show no indications that a speedy recovery is going to happen. Why would Walmart fix it when it makes their revenue go up and forces the EBT customers regardless if they paid for the year of Walmart plus if they want to use their EBT card they re going to go to'the store so the people there are trying to help they re actually taking advantage of'yeah it s only $49 for the'year with the assist program but you only get it for 4 months That s not right. I'm so sorry you've been dealing with this frustrating situation for even longer than the original poster. Going since April 5th without resolution is completely unacceptable, especially when you're paying for Walmart Plus specifically for delivery access. The PIN error and that ridiculous 489,000 hour lockout sounds absolutely maddening. It's particularly concerning that Walmart keeps promising 24-hour fixes and email follow-ups that never materialize. Empty promises from customer service only make these situations more infuriating. While I understand why this might feel intentional (especially since in-store EBT works fine), technical issues affecting specific payment systems can be genuinely complex to resolve. That said, you're right that they should be prioritizing this fix, as it disproportionately impacts people who may rely on delivery for accessibility reasons. Have you tried reaching out to your state's EBT/SNAP office directly? They might have more leverage with Walmart than individual customers. Also, filing complaints with both the USDA (who oversees SNAP) and your state's consumer protection agency could create more pressure than the BBB. In the meantime, some grocery stores like Amazon Fresh and some local chains also accept EBT for delivery. It's not ideal to switch services when you've paid for Walmart Plus, but it might be a temporary solution while this drags on. This really does sound like a widespread issue affecting many EBT users. Your frustration is completely valid - you deserve the same reliable service as anyone else.

0 coins

This is absolutely unacceptable - I'm dealing with the exact same issue and it's been going on for over a month now! What really gets me is that Walmart is still actively advertising EBT acceptance for delivery on their website and in their app, but then when you try to actually use it, the system "mysteriously" doesn't work. I've been a Walmart Plus member for 8 months specifically because I'm disabled and can't easily get to the store. Now I'm paying for a service I literally cannot use for its main purpose. I tried calling customer service yesterday and they gave me the runaround for 45 minutes before telling me to "try again later" - no timeline, no real explanation, just corporate speak. After reading all these comments, I'm convinced this isn't just a technical glitch. If it was truly unintentional, they would have either fixed it by now or temporarily suspended new EBT-related Walmart Plus signups until the issue is resolved. Instead, they're still taking people's money while knowing the service doesn't work properly. I'm going to follow the advice here and file complaints with both the USDA and BBB. This feels like discrimination against low-income customers who depend on these services.

0 coins

@Sean Doyle I completely understand your frustration! The fact that they re'still advertising EBT acceptance while the service doesn t'work is really misleading. I ve'been following this thread and it sounds like this is happening across multiple states now - California, Louisiana, and apparently wherever you are too. The disability aspect makes this even more serious. Have you looked into whether your state has any disability advocacy groups that might be able to help pressure Walmart? Sometimes they have more pull than individual complaints. Also, someone mentioned earlier that you might be able to get a prorated refund or extension on your Walmart Plus membership if you specifically mention that you signed up for EBT delivery access. It s'really encouraging to see so many people speaking up about this issue. The more complaints that get filed, the harder it becomes for them to ignore. Keep us updated on what happens with your USDA and BBB complaints!

0 coins

This is really helpful information, everyone! I'm also dealing with this issue and it's been so frustrating not knowing what's actually going on. I've been calling Walmart customer service repeatedly and getting different answers each time - one rep told me it was a "temporary glitch" that would be fixed in 24 hours (that was 2 weeks ago), another said they "never supported EBT online" which is obviously false since I've been using it successfully for months. What bothers me most is that I specifically chose Walmart Plus over other services because of the EBT acceptance. I have chronic pain issues that make grocery shopping really difficult, so delivery isn't just convenient for me - it's necessary. Now I'm paying for a service I can't actually use for its main purpose. I'm going to try some of the suggestions here - calling the USDA complaint line that Aaron mentioned, looking into Amazon Fresh, and definitely asking for compensation when I call Walmart back. Has anyone had luck getting through to an actual supervisor? Every time I ask to speak to one, they put me on hold forever and then transfer me to someone else who gives me the same scripted responses. Thanks for sharing all this information - at least now I know it's not just me and there might actually be a timeline for when this gets fixed!

0 coins

@Avery Davis I totally feel your frustration about the scripted responses! When I was trying to get through to a supervisor, I had to be really persistent and specific. What worked for me was saying I "need to speak with someone who has the authority to provide compensation for a service that s'not working as advertised. I" also mentioned that I was documenting all my calls for potential complaints to regulatory agencies. That seemed to get me escalated faster than just asking for a supervisor. "For" chronic pain issues, you might also want to mention that this is affecting your ability to access necessary groceries due to disability - sometimes that triggers different protocols on their end. And definitely document every call date, (time, what they told you because) it helps when you re'asking for refunds or extensions later. The Amazon Fresh suggestion from others here is worth trying too - I switched over temporarily and their EBT system has been working fine for me. Not as many options as Walmart but at least I can get groceries delivered again. Hang in there, and keep us posted on how the supervisor call goes!

I'm dealing with this exact same issue and it's so frustrating! I've been a Walmart Plus member for about 6 months specifically because I'm a single parent with two young kids and no reliable transportation. The EBT delivery option was literally a lifesaver for me - I could order groceries during naptime and have them delivered when it was convenient. Now I'm stuck paying for a subscription I can't use properly, and dragging two toddlers on public transit to get groceries is exhausting and time-consuming. I tried their customer service chat yesterday and the rep kept insisting I must be entering my PIN wrong, even after I explained that my card works fine in stores. Based on what everyone's sharing here, it sounds like this is way more widespread than Walmart is admitting. I'm definitely going to call that USDA complaint line and ask for compensation on my membership. It's really reassuring to know I'm not alone in this - I was starting to think there was something wrong with my benefits! Has anyone tried reaching out to Walmart on social media? Sometimes companies respond faster to public complaints on Twitter or Facebook than they do to private customer service calls.

0 coins

@Isabella Ferreira The social media approach is actually a really good idea! Companies often respond faster to public complaints because they re'more visible. You might want to tweet at both @Walmart and @WalmartHelp with screenshots of the error messages you re'getting. Make sure to use hashtags like #EBT #WalmartPlus #CalFresh so other people experiencing this can find your post. As a single parent dealing with this, you re'definitely in a position where this issue is causing real hardship. When you call for compensation, make sure to emphasize how this affects your ability to care for your children - that you specifically relied on this service for accessibility reasons with two toddlers. I ve'seen some people in similar situations also reach out to local disability advocacy groups or even their county supervisor s'office, since this disproportionately affects people who depend on delivery services. It might be worth exploring if there are any local resources that could help put pressure on Walmart to fix this faster. The PIN error excuse is so insulting when we all know our cards work fine in stores! Document that response too - it shows they re'not taking the complaints seriously. You re'definitely not alone in this, and the more people who speak up, the better chance we have of getting this resolved quickly.

I just wanted to add that I'm experiencing this same issue in Arizona - so this is definitely not just a California problem like some people thought earlier. I've been trying to use my EBT card for Walmart Plus deliveries since mid-February and keep getting the "use another payment method" error. What's really frustrating is that I called my local county SNAP office and they confirmed that Walmart is still listed as an authorized online retailer on their end, so the problem is definitely on Walmart's side. The county worker I spoke with said they've been getting a lot of calls about this and suggested I file a complaint with the USDA because "the more complaints they get from different states, the more pressure there will be to fix it." I'm also going to try some of the alternatives people mentioned here - Amazon Fresh and Instacart - but it's really disappointing that I'm paying for Walmart Plus and can't actually use the main feature I signed up for. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences, it's helpful to know this is happening to so many people across different states!

0 coins

@Tristan Carpenter Thanks for confirming this is happening in Arizona too! That s'really helpful information and shows how widespread this problem actually is. It s'good that your county SNAP office acknowledged the issue and encouraged filing USDA complaints - that gives me more confidence that this is the right approach. I m'in Northern California and have been dealing with this since late January, so it sounds like it s'been rolling out across different states over the past few months. The fact that county offices are confirming Walmart is still listed as authorized makes it even clearer that this is entirely on Walmart s'end. I ve'been using Amazon Fresh as my backup and it s'been working well - their EBT integration seems much more stable. The selection isn t'quite as extensive as Walmart but it s'definitely better than nothing while we wait for this to get resolved. Keep us updated on your USDA complaint! The more documentation we have from different states, the stronger the case becomes that this needs immediate attention. It s'really encouraging to see people from multiple states speaking up about this issue.

I'm experiencing this exact same issue in Texas! Started about 3 weeks ago - my EBT card works perfectly fine in-store but keeps getting rejected for online Walmart Plus orders. I've called customer service twice and gotten completely different explanations each time. First rep said it was a "temporary system maintenance" that would be fixed in 48 hours, second rep claimed there was an issue with my specific card (even though it works everywhere else). Reading through all these comments, it's clear this is a nationwide problem affecting multiple states. What really bothers me is that Walmart is still actively promoting EBT acceptance for delivery while knowing the system doesn't work. I have a newborn and was relying on delivery to avoid taking my baby out unnecessarily, especially during flu season. I'm going to call that USDA complaint line that was mentioned and demand compensation for my Walmart Plus membership. If this many people across different states are having the same issue, there's no way this is just a "technical glitch" - this needs to be escalated and fixed immediately. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences, it's really helpful to know I'm not alone in this!

0 coins

@Lara Woods I m'so sorry you re'dealing with this too, especially with a newborn! That makes this situation even more stressful since you re'trying to keep your baby safe during flu season. It s'really concerning that this is now confirmed to be happening in Texas, Arizona, California, and Louisiana - this is definitely a widespread issue that Walmart needs to address urgently. The fact that you re'getting completely different explanations from customer service reps really shows they either don t'know what s'actually going on or they re'not being honest about the scope of the problem. The issue "with your specific card excuse" is particularly frustrating when we all know our cards work fine everywhere else. I d'definitely recommend filing that USDA complaint and documenting both of your customer service calls dates, (times, what they told you .)When you call for compensation, make sure to mention that you have a newborn and specifically needed delivery service for health and safety reasons - that should help strengthen your case for getting a refund or extension. Amazon Fresh might be worth trying as a temporary solution - several people here have mentioned their EBT system is working properly. It s'not ideal to have to switch when you re'already paying for Walmart Plus, but at least you could get groceries delivered safely for your family. Keep us updated on how your USDA complaint goes!

I'm also dealing with this issue in Oregon! Started having problems about 2 weeks ago - my EBT card works fine at physical stores but keeps getting rejected for Walmart Plus delivery orders. I'm a college student with no car and I specifically got Walmart Plus because I could use my SNAP benefits for grocery delivery to my dorm. Now I'm stuck paying for a service that doesn't work and having to figure out how to get to a grocery store without transportation. What's really frustrating is that when I called customer service, they tried to tell me that EBT "has never been accepted for delivery orders" which is obviously false since I've been successfully using it for months. I even showed them my order history proving I've placed EBT delivery orders before, but they just kept repeating the same script. Based on everyone's comments here, this is clearly a much bigger problem than Walmart is admitting. I'm definitely going to file a USDA complaint and try some of the alternatives people mentioned. Thanks for sharing all this information - it's really helpful to know this is happening nationwide and not just something wrong with my account!

0 coins

@Vanessa Figueroa I m'so sorry you re'dealing with this as a college student without transportation - that makes this situation even more challenging! The fact that customer service told you EBT was never "accepted for" delivery when you literally have order history proving otherwise is absolutely infuriating. It really shows they re'either completely uninformed about their own services or being deliberately misleading. It s'really eye-opening to see this is happening in Oregon too - we now have confirmation this is affecting California, Louisiana, Arizona, Texas, and Oregon. This is clearly a massive nationwide issue that Walmart is downplaying. As a student relying on SNAP benefits and delivery for basic necessities, you re'exactly the type of customer who s'being most hurt by this problem. Definitely file that USDA complaint - your situation as a student without transportation who specifically relied on this service for food access is exactly the kind of case that regulatory agencies need to hear about. When you call for compensation on your Walmart Plus membership, make sure to emphasize that you re'a student who chose this service specifically for EBT delivery access and now can t'get to grocery stores easily. Amazon Fresh and some local stores through Instacart might work as temporary alternatives while this gets sorted out. Keep us updated on your complaint - the more states we can document having this issue, the stronger the case becomes for immediate action!

I'm experiencing this exact same issue in Florida! Started about 2 weeks ago - my EBT card works perfectly in stores but gets rejected every time I try to checkout online with Walmart Plus. I'm a senior citizen with limited mobility and I specifically got the subscription because I can't drive anymore and public transportation is really difficult for me. What's especially frustrating is that I called Walmart three times and got three completely different explanations: first they said it was "routine maintenance," then someone told me my benefits were expired (they're not - I checked), and the third person claimed they needed to "verify my identity" but couldn't tell me how to do that. It's clear their customer service has no idea what's actually happening. Seeing all these comments from different states really confirms this is a nationwide problem that Walmart is trying to downplay. I'm definitely going to call that USDA complaint line and demand compensation for my membership. As a disabled senior, this feels like discrimination - I'm paying the same fee as everyone else but can't access the main service I need. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences and the helpful suggestions about alternatives like Amazon Fresh!

0 coins

@Ethan Wilson I m'so sorry you re'dealing with this as a senior with limited mobility - this situation is particularly unfair for people who genuinely depend on delivery services for essential needs. The fact that you got three completely different explanations from Walmart customer service really shows how poorly they re'handling this issue. It s'especially concerning that they told you your benefits were expired when they clearly aren t'- that kind of misinformation just adds unnecessary stress to an already frustrating situation. You re'absolutely right that this feels discriminatory. When people pay for a service specifically because they need accessible grocery shopping options due to age or disability, and then that service becomes unavailable, it disproportionately impacts those who have fewer alternatives. Your situation as a senior without transportation is exactly why these EBT delivery programs exist in the first place. The fact that we now have people reporting this issue from California, Louisiana, Arizona, Texas, Oregon, and Florida really shows how massive this problem has become. When you file your USDA complaint, definitely emphasize your status as a disabled senior who specifically relies on this service for food access - those are the exact cases that regulatory agencies need to prioritize. I d'also suggest mentioning your mobility limitations when you call for Walmart Plus compensation. Companies sometimes have special protocols for customers with accessibility needs. Keep fighting for the service you paid for - you deserve better than this runaround!

I'm also dealing with this same issue in Nevada! Been trying to use my EBT card for Walmart Plus deliveries for the past 3 weeks and keep getting the "use another payment method" error. My card works perfectly fine in physical stores, so I know there's nothing wrong with my benefits. What really frustrates me is that I'm a working parent with two jobs and I specifically got Walmart Plus because I could order groceries late at night after my kids went to bed and have them delivered the next day. Now I'm paying for a service I can't use and having to find time during my already packed schedule to physically go grocery shopping. I called customer service twice and got the typical runaround - first rep said it was a "temporary glitch" that would be fixed "soon" (no specific timeline), second rep tried to tell me I must be using the wrong PIN even though I explained it works fine everywhere else. It's clear they either don't know what's happening or they're not being honest about it. Reading through all these comments from different states is really eye-opening - this is obviously a massive nationwide problem that Walmart is trying to minimize. I'm definitely going to file a USDA complaint and ask for compensation on my membership. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences and all the helpful suggestions about Amazon Fresh and other alternatives!

0 coins

@Anna Stewart I completely understand your frustration as a working parent trying to juggle two jobs! The fact that you specifically chose Walmart Plus so you could order groceries during your limited free time makes this situation even more unfair. Having to now find time in your already packed schedule to physically shop for groceries because a service you re'paying for doesn t'work is absolutely unacceptable. The wrong "PIN excuse" from customer service is particularly insulting when you ve'explained that your card works fine everywhere else - it really shows they re'not taking these complaints seriously or listening to what customers are actually telling them. It s'incredible that we now have confirmation this is happening in Nevada too, along with California, Louisiana, Arizona, Texas, Oregon, and Florida. This is clearly a massive coast-to-coast issue that Walmart needs to address immediately. When you file your USDA complaint, definitely emphasize how this impacts your ability to balance work and family responsibilities - you shouldn t'have to choose between work shifts and grocery shopping because a paid service isn t'functioning. I d'also recommend documenting both of those customer service calls dates, (times, what they told you when) you ask for compensation. As a working parent who specifically relied on the flexibility this service provided, you have a strong case for getting your membership fees back or extended. Keep us updated on how your complaint goes - every additional state reporting this issue helps build the case for urgent action!

I'm also experiencing this exact same issue in Michigan! Started about 3 weeks ago - my EBT card works perfectly at physical Walmart stores but gets rejected every time I try to place an online order through Walmart Plus. I'm a caregiver for my elderly mother who has dementia, and I specifically got the subscription because I can't leave her alone for long periods to go grocery shopping. What's really concerning is reading through all these comments and seeing this is happening nationwide - California, Louisiana, Arizona, Texas, Oregon, Florida, Nevada, and now Michigan. This is clearly not just a "temporary technical glitch" like they keep telling us. The fact that Walmart is still advertising EBT acceptance for delivery while knowing the system doesn't work feels deceptive. I called customer service yesterday and the rep told me to "try a different browser" which obviously didn't work since this is a payment processing issue, not a website issue. When I pressed for a real explanation, she just repeated that it was a "known issue being worked on" with no timeline. I'm definitely going to file complaints with both the USDA and BBB based on the suggestions here. As someone caring for a family member with dementia, this service disruption isn't just inconvenient - it's creating real hardship. I shouldn't have to choose between leaving my mother unattended or paying out of pocket for groceries when I'm already paying for a delivery service specifically designed to accept EBT. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences - it's frustrating but helpful to know this is a widespread issue that needs immediate attention from Walmart and regulatory agencies.

0 coins

@CosmicCowboy I'm so sorry you're dealing with this while caring for your mother with dementia - that adds such a difficult layer to an already frustrating situation. The fact that you can't leave her alone for extended grocery trips makes this service disruption not just inconvenient but genuinely harmful to your family's wellbeing. The "try a different browser" suggestion is almost insulting given that this is clearly a widespread payment processing issue affecting multiple states. It really shows how disconnected their customer service is from the actual problem. You're absolutely right that this feels deceptive - continuing to advertise EBT acceptance while the system doesn't work nationwide is misleading at best. Michigan makes this the 8th state we now have confirmed reports from, which really drives home how massive this issue has become. When you file your USDA and BBB complaints, definitely emphasize your role as a caregiver and how this impacts your ability to care for a vulnerable family member. Those are exactly the kinds of situations that regulatory agencies need to prioritize. Your situation highlights why these EBT delivery programs exist in the first place - to help people who genuinely need accessible grocery options due to caregiving responsibilities, disabilities, or other barriers. Walmart needs to understand that this isn't just about convenience for many of us - it's about meeting basic needs while managing complex family situations. Keep fighting for the compensation and service you deserve. Caregivers like you shouldn't have to bear the burden of Walmart's system failures while trying to care for your loved ones.

I'm experiencing this exact same issue in North Carolina! Started having problems about 2 weeks ago - my EBT card works perfectly fine in physical stores but keeps getting rejected for Walmart Plus online orders. I'm a disabled veteran with PTSD and I specifically got the subscription because crowded stores can trigger anxiety attacks for me. Online grocery delivery has been essential for my mental health and wellbeing. What's really frustrating is that I called customer service three times and got completely different responses each time. First rep said it was a "system update" that would be done in 24-48 hours (that was 10 days ago), second rep claimed my card was "temporarily suspended" even though I'd just used it at the store that morning, and the third rep told me they were "upgrading security features" with no timeline at all. Reading through all these comments from 8 different states is really eye-opening - this is clearly a massive nationwide problem that Walmart is either unable or unwilling to fix quickly. The fact that they're still advertising EBT acceptance while knowing the system doesn't work feels incredibly misleading, especially for those of us who depend on this service for accessibility reasons. I'm definitely going to file complaints with the USDA and BBB, and I'm going to demand a full refund for my Walmart Plus membership. As a disabled veteran who relies on this service to avoid triggering environments, this feels like discrimination. I shouldn't have to choose between my mental health and getting groceries because a company can't maintain their payment systems properly. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences and all the helpful resources - it's reassuring to know I'm not alone in this, even though the situation is completely unacceptable.

@Lucas Lindsey Thank you so much for sharing your experience as a disabled veteran - your situation really highlights how this isn t'just an inconvenience but a serious accessibility issue that s'affecting people s'mental health and wellbeing. The fact that you specifically need delivery service to avoid triggering environments makes Walmart s'failure to maintain this system even more problematic. It s'absolutely unacceptable that you received three completely different explanations from customer service, especially the false claim that your card was suspended "when" you d'literally just used it in-store. That kind of misinformation just adds unnecessary stress to an already difficult situation. North Carolina makes this the 9th state we now have confirmation from - this truly is a coast-to-coast crisis affecting vulnerable populations who depend on these services. Your point about this feeling like discrimination is absolutely valid, especially since you re'paying the same membership fees as everyone else but can t'access the primary service you need. When you file your USDA and BBB complaints, definitely emphasize your status as a disabled veteran who relies on this service for mental health reasons. Those agencies need to understand that this impacts people s'basic ability to safely access food. You might also consider reaching out to veteran advocacy organizations - they sometimes have additional channels for addressing service discrimination. You absolutely deserve a full refund for a service that doesn t'work as advertised. Keep documenting all those customer service interactions - the contradictory information they gave you actually strengthens your case for compensation. Thank you for your service, and I hope this gets resolved quickly for all of us who depend on these accessible shopping options.

This is absolutely unacceptable and reading through all these experiences from 9 different states is both heartbreaking and infuriating. I'm also dealing with this same issue - my EBT card works fine in stores but Walmart Plus keeps rejecting it online. I'm a single mom with three kids under 10, and I work two part-time jobs just to make ends meet. I specifically saved up for the Walmart Plus subscription because I could order groceries after my kids went to bed and have them delivered while I'm at work, so my neighbor could receive them. Now I'm stuck paying for a service that doesn't work and having to drag three young children on public transit to grocery shop, which takes half my Saturday. What really gets me is that Walmart is STILL advertising EBT acceptance on their website and app - I literally saw an ad yesterday promoting "Use your EBT card for convenient delivery!" If they know the system is broken across the entire country, how is it legal to keep advertising and selling subscriptions based on a feature that doesn't work? That feels like straight-up false advertising to me. I'm going to file complaints with the USDA, BBB, and honestly considering reaching out to my local news station because this is affecting so many vulnerable families. We're talking about disabled veterans, seniors with mobility issues, caregivers, single parents, students without transportation - the people who MOST need accessible grocery delivery are the ones being failed by this "technical glitch" that's been going on for months. Everyone who's shared their story here should absolutely demand full refunds or significant extensions on their memberships. We shouldn't have to pay for services that don't work, especially when we specifically chose them for EBT access. This thread has been incredibly helpful - thank you all for speaking up and sharing resources. Let's keep the pressure on until this gets fixed properly!
