Anyone in Fresno County received P-EBT 4.0 reloads for school-age kids yet?
Got my notification letters for P-EBT 4.0 last week for my two kids (ages 9 and 12), but my card hasn't been reloaded yet. The letters mention both kids qualify since they're enrolled in Fresno Unified, but there's no date listed for when funds should appear. One letter is labeled for 'A' and the other for 'J' which I assume are my kids' initials. Been checking my balance daily for 5 days now - nothing! Has anyone else in Fresno County gotten their P-EBT 4.0 money loaded yet? The letters say something about payments being staggered but doesn't give any timeline. We're really counting on this to help with groceries this month.

P-EBT 4.0 distributions are being rolled out in phases for the 2024-2025 school year. According to the latest information, Fresno County is scheduled for the second wave of distributions, which should begin around mid-month. The letters you received are confirmation of eligibility, but the funds typically follow 7-14 days after notification. The staggered release is alphabetical by student last name in many counties, which might explain the 'A' and 'J' designations. Keep checking your balance, but don't be alarmed if it takes until the end of next week.

•Thank you! That's helpful to know about the waves. Makes me feel better knowing I'm not the only one waiting. Do you know if both kids' benefits should load at the same time even with different last initials? They have the same last name (J is their middle initial).

So frustrating!!! I've been waiting for P-EBT for my three kids since FEBRUARY!!! The Fresno County office keeps saying "it's coming" but nothing ever happens. I got the letters too, about 2 weeks ago, and STILL NOTHING on my card. Called the P-EBT hotline FIVE TIMES and all they say is "wait for the funds to be loaded" without giving ANY specific dates. It's ridiculous how they dangle this assistance in front of desperate families and then make us wait FOREVER with no clear communication!!!

•I know it's frustrating, but P-EBT 4.0 is actually a new issuance for the 2024-2025 school year. It's separate from any previous P-EBT programs, so your February wait was probably for the last round (3.0). The good news is that most people I've talked to are seeing the funds appear about 10-14 days after getting their notification letters. Try using the chat function on the P-EBT website rather than calling - I found I got more specific information that way about the loading schedule for Fresno County.

•Wait really?? So this is completely different from what I was waiting for before? I'm so confused with all these different versions and phases. The letters all look the same! I'll try the chat thing, thanks!

I work with several families in Fresno County, and from what I'm seeing, P-EBT 4.0 benefits are being loaded in batches throughout May and June. The first batch started processing on May 5th, but most cards won't see funds until May 15-25 depending on your school district and the last name of the children. For Fresno Unified specifically, they're in the second batch, with initial loads happening May 15-20. The letters are sent out about 2 weeks before the actual loading occurs, which explains why you've received notification but no funds yet. If you need to speak with someone directly about your P-EBT status, try using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to a representative faster. Several families I work with have used their service to avoid the endless hold times with the P-EBT hotline. There's a helpful video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8

•Thank you for the detailed information! May 15-20 gives me a better timeframe to expect the funds. I'll hang tight until then before panicking. If I don't see anything by the 21st, I might try that Claimyr service you mentioned - the hold times on the P-EBT line are ridiculous.

•Just checked again after seeing your comment - still nothing for us. Maybe they're doing it by school? My kids are at Bullard Talent and Manchester GATE. What schools are your kids at if you don't mind sharing?

P-EBT and CalFresh are different things right? My neighbor said her kid got P-EBT but they don't even get food stamps. I'm confused about who qualifies for what.

•Yes, they're different programs. P-EBT is specifically for families with children who would normally receive free or reduced-price school meals. Your child qualifies if they attend a school that participates in the National School Lunch Program and either: 1) your household receives CalFresh, CalWORKs, or Medi-Cal, or 2) your child's school operates under Community Eligibility Provision (which many Fresno schools do). So it's possible to get P-EBT even if you don't receive regular CalFresh benefits.

I received my kids' P-EBT 4.0 funds yesterday (May 11th). I'm in Fresno Unified, and my children's last names start with C. From talking with others in my neighborhood, it seems they're doing alphabetical rollout by last name. My letter came on April 30th, so it was about 11 days between notification and funds being available. One thing to note - the funds don't always show up when you check your balance through the automated phone system. I recommend checking through the EBT app or website for the most up-to-date balance.

•Oh that's interesting about the app showing different info than the phone system. I've only been checking via phone. I'll download the app right now and see if that shows anything different. Our last name starts with P so maybe we're just further down the alphabet line.

•The P-EBT 4.0 amount varies based on several factors. The base calculation is $8.28 per school day, but the exact amount depends on: 1. How many school days your child was eligible for free/reduced meals 2. Whether your school reported any COVID-related absences or remote learning days 3. Whether your child's attendance record shows extended absences Schools in different districts might have had different numbers of qualifying days, which explains the variation in benefit amounts. The $420 amount suggests those children had more qualifying days than the $380 some others are reporting.

Has anyone tried calling the P-EBT hotline? I tried yesterday and was on hold for 2.5 HOURS before getting disconnected!!! This is ridiculous!

•I used that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier when I needed to reach EDD last year. it actually worked pretty good. haven't tried for PEBT but might be worth a shot if you're desperate to talk to someone

•Anything is better than getting disconnected after hours on hold! How does it work exactly? Do they just call for you?
