Anyone gotten P-EBT cards for kids in Contra Costa County yet? Still waiting for 10-year-old

Has anyone in Contra Costa County actually received their P-EBT cards for school-aged children yet? My 10-year-old daughter hasn't gotten hers and I'm starting to worry. Her name begins with V, if that matters for the distribution order. I heard they were supposed to be mailed out in batches starting in January 2025, but it's already March and nothing has shown up. My neighbors with kids in the same school got theirs last week, which makes me even more concerned. Should I be calling someone about this or just keep waiting? Getting desperate as grocery prices keep rising! 😫

I'm in Contra Costa too, and they're definitely rolling them out by alphabetical last name groups. My kids (last name begins with C) got theirs about 3 weeks ago. They should be sending them through April, so I wouldn't panic yet. If your daughter qualifies through school lunch program, you could try calling the P-EBT hotline at 877-328-9677 to check status. They might be able to tell you what batch her card is in. Also double-check your address is current in the school system since that's where they pull the mailing info from.

Thank you!! I'll try calling that number tomorrow. Their address system might be the issue actually - we moved to a different apartment in the same complex last summer and I updated it with the school but maybe it didn't get to the right database for the P-EBT system.

If you're having trouble getting through on the P-EBT hotline, you might want to try Claimyr. I was in the same situation last month - couldn't get past the automated system for days. Claimyr helped me get through to an actual person at the county office who confirmed my son's card was being processed. Just go to claimyr.com or check out their demo video at https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8 to see how it works. Saved me hours of frustration!

my daughters got hers last week! we're in pittsburg area of contra costa. last name starts with M so they seem to be going in order just slowly

That's good to know they're still sending them out! We're in Richmond area so maybe they're doing it by region and then alphabetical? So confusing!

Just to clarify some misinformation here - P-EBT cards are NOT the same as regular CalFresh EBT. P-EBT is specifically for school children who qualify for free/reduced lunch programs, while CalFresh is the regular food assistance program based on household income. For P-EBT distribution in 2025, California is sending cards in batches based on both alphabetical order AND school district, which is why some people with different last name initials might get them at different times even in the same county. The current distribution window for Contra Costa is January through April 2025. If you don't receive the card by the end of April, THEN you should contact the P-EBT hotline to request a replacement. Make sure your address is updated in your child's school records, as that's where they pull the mailing information from. Also, the P-EBT cards come in plain white envelopes that can look like junk mail, so check carefully!

They look like junk mail for real!!!! I almost threw my kids away thinking it was credit card offer lol

Does anyone know how much is supposed to be on these cards? My daughter finally got hers yesterday (last name R) and it only had $375 on it. I thought it was supposed to be for the whole school year which would be way more???

The 2025 P-EBT benefit amount is $375 for January-April, with additional amounts added later for May-December. They're releasing the funds in phases this year instead of one lump sum. There should be another $675 added automatically to the same card around June/July if your child still qualifies.

Update: I called the P-EBT hotline this morning and after waiting for almost an hour, they told me my daughter's card was mailed last week and should arrive within 10 days! Thanks everyone for the advice. And they confirmed what someone mentioned - they're doing it by both alphabet AND school district. Will update again when we actually get it!

Thanks for the tip! Will definitely create a PIN we can remember easily. Did your friend have to call to reset her PIN or was there another way?

Omg that's great news! I'll be extra careful checking the mail this week. Did it come in a plain white envelope with no obvious markings?
