Thank you for the update! I checked BenefitsCal again and it still shows our cards are on the way. Fingers crossed they arrive soon!
I'm also waiting on P-EBT cards for my two kids! Been checking the mail every day since the 15th and nothing yet. It's so frustrating not knowing when they'll actually arrive. My kids' school sent home a notice saying all eligible families should receive them by the end of the month, but like you said, some neighbors already got theirs. I'm going to try checking BenefitsCal like others mentioned here - didn't even know you could track the status online! Hopefully we'll all get some answers soon. The uncertainty is the worst part when you're trying to budget for groceries.
I just saw this weird Facebook video claiming California is sending out new EBT replacement cards? (link: https://www.facebook.com/100004245755526/videos/1612459896170484/) I've been on CalFresh for almost 2 years and haven't heard ANYTHING about this from my county worker. No notices in the mail, nothing on my SAR7, zero info on BenefitsCal website. The video seems sketchy but my cousin in Sacramento swears her friend got some kind of notice about card replacements happening in 2025. Has anyone in California actually received info about this from their county office? Or is this just another scam trying to get people's EBT info?
this is definatly some kind of scam!!! my cousin got hacked after clicking on something like this and they stole all her benefits!!! don't click ANY links about EBT stuff from facebook or anywhere!!!!
That's horrible! Did she report it to the fraud department? I've heard they sometimes replace benefits if they were stolen.
As someone new to CalFresh, this is really scary to hear about! I almost clicked on a similar Facebook link last week but something felt off about it. Thank you everyone for confirming this is a scam - I'm going to screenshot this thread to show my family members who are also on benefits. Just to add: if anyone is unsure about ANY communication claiming to be from CalFresh/EBT, the safest thing is to log into your actual BenefitsCal account or call the official number on the back of your card. Better to be cautious than lose your benefits to scammers!
This happened to my cousin and it turned out the system flagged her account for fraud investigation because she was receiving child support through the state collection system AND reporting it on her SAR7. The worker told her the system thought she was double reporting or something? Once they manually reviewed it everything was fixed and she got back benefits. But it took like 3 weeks 😬
Oh no, I really hope it doesn't take 3 weeks! I receive my child support through the state system too, so maybe that's exactly what happened. Did your cousin have to provide any special documentation to prove it wasn't fraud?
I'm so sorry you're dealing with this stress! As a single mom who's been through similar issues, I totally understand how scary it is when benefits don't show up. From what everyone's shared here, it sounds like the system has a recurring glitch with child support income being flagged incorrectly. I'd definitely recommend going to the office in person first thing tomorrow morning - bring your SAR7 receipt, your child support court order, and any payment records you have. When you talk to them, use the exact language @LunarEclipse suggested about "income classification error" and ask them to check the "income type code." Also, if you're receiving child support through the state collection system, mention that specifically because it sounds like that might trigger the system flag that @FireflyDreams mentioned. The worker should be able to see your payment history in their system. Hang in there - it sounds like once you get to speak with someone, this should be fixable pretty quickly. Keep us updated on how it goes!
Thank you so much @Sara Hellquiem! This whole thread has been incredibly helpful. I'm feeling much more prepared now for my visit tomorrow morning. I'll make sure to bring all my documentation and use the specific language everyone suggested. It's really reassuring to know that other people have dealt with this exact same issue and gotten it resolved. I'll definitely update everyone on how it goes - hopefully it will be a quick fix like most of you experienced once you actually got to speak with someone. Thanks again to everyone for all the advice and support!
I'm in a similar situation - just started a new job and had to report the income change. From what I've learned reading through these comments, it sounds like if your case shows "Active" in BenefitsCal, that's a good sign that they've processed your verification. The app really is limited though - I wish they'd add a feature to show pending deposits or at least confirmation when verifications are processed. For now, I'm just going to check my EBT card on my usual deposit date and call if nothing shows up. Hope your benefits come through on the 7th as expected!
Thanks for sharing your experience! It's reassuring to hear from someone in a similar situation. I agree the app could really use better features - even just a simple "verification received" notification would help so much with the anxiety of not knowing if your paperwork went through. Good luck with your new job! Hopefully we both get our benefits on time without any issues.
I've been through this exact situation before! The frustrating thing about the BenefitsCal system is that "Active" status doesn't necessarily mean your recent verification was processed - it just means your case hasn't been closed yet. However, since you submitted income verification for a relatively small raise ($315/month), you should still be well within the eligibility limits for a family of 4. The good news is that even if there's a slight delay, it usually gets resolved within a few days of your normal deposit date. I'd recommend checking your EBT card first thing on the 7th, and if nothing's there by noon, definitely call your county office. In my experience, most income verification delays get sorted out pretty quickly once you get through to someone. Keep that verification paperwork handy just in case they need you to resend anything!

Update: Just got off the phone with the P-EBT hotline (finally!) and wanted to share what I learned. The rep confirmed that T-Z last names will start seeing benefits July 16-30, with most being processed during the first week of that window. She also said that all three of my kids should get their benefits loaded on the same day, which is good news. For anyone else waiting - they suggested checking your EBT balance every morning during your alphabetical window as benefits are typically loaded overnight. Thanks everyone for your help!

•Thanks for posting the update! I'm W also so I'll start checking mid-July. Did they say anything about notification texts? I thought they were supposed to text when benefits are loaded.

•They said text notifications are supposed to go out but the system has been glitchy. She recommended not relying on them and just checking your balance directly through the app or phone number instead.

This is so helpful! I'm in the same boat with a Z last name and two kids in elementary. I've been stressing about when these benefits would come through since I'm trying to plan summer meals and activities. It's really frustrating that they don't just release them all at once, but at least now I know to expect them in the second half of July. Going to set a reminder to start checking my EBT balance daily starting July 16th. Thanks for calling and sharing what you found out!
