Louisiana Secretary of State UCC Portal Down Again - Continuation Due Tomorrow
Really need help here. My UCC-1 continuation is due tomorrow (expires 1/15/25) and the Louisiana Secretary of State UCC portal has been giving me error messages all morning. I keep getting 'system temporarily unavailable' when I try to submit the UCC-3 continuation. This is for a $180K equipment loan and if this lapses the bank is going to lose their security interest. Has anyone else had issues with the Louisiana system lately? I've tried different browsers and even called their office but just got voicemail. The debtor name and filing number are all correct - I triple checked everything. Just can't get the system to accept the filing. What are my options here?

Oh no, that's cutting it really close! The Louisiana SOS system has been buggy lately. I had similar issues last month. Try clearing your browser cache completely and use Chrome if you're not already. Also make sure you're using the exact debtor name format from the original UCC-1 - Louisiana is super picky about that.

•Already tried Chrome and Firefox, cleared cache multiple times. The debtor name matches exactly what's on the original filing from 2020. This is so frustrating.

•Louisiana SOS portal is notorious for going down right before deadlines. It's like they know when people are scrambling to file continuations.

I work with Louisiana UCC filings regularly and their system has been having intermittent issues since their 'upgrade' in December. You might want to try filing very early morning (like 6 AM) or late evening when server load is lower. Also double-check that your filing number doesn't have any extra spaces or characters.

•Filing number is clean, copied directly from the search results. I'll try again tonight but I'm really worried about missing the deadline.

•What's the backup plan if the system is still down? Can you file by mail or in person for a continuation?

•Louisiana still accepts paper filings but they take 3-5 business days to process, so that won't help with a tomorrow deadline.

Had a similar panic situation last year with a different state. Ended up using Certana.ai's document verification tool to make sure all my filing details were perfect before submitting. It caught a tiny discrepancy in the debtor name that would have caused a rejection. You upload your original UCC-1 and the continuation form, and it instantly flags any inconsistencies. Might be worth checking to make sure everything aligns perfectly so you don't waste time on a filing that will get rejected.

•Never heard of that but at this point I'll try anything. How does it work exactly?

•Super simple - just upload PDFs of your documents and it cross-checks debtor names, filing numbers, all the details that commonly cause rejections. Takes like 2 minutes.

•That actually sounds really useful. I've had filings rejected for the stupidest little formatting issues.

UGHHH the Louisiana system is THE WORST. I've been dealing with this garbage for years. Last time I had a continuation due they were 'performing maintenance' for THREE DAYS straight. No warning, no backup system, nothing. It's like they want liens to expire.

•Seriously, how is this acceptable? These are secured transactions worth hundreds of thousands of dollars and their system is held together with duct tape.

•Every state seems to have issues but Louisiana is definitely one of the worst. Their search function is slow too.

Quick update - I got through around 11 PM last night! System finally accepted the continuation. Turns out there was some weird server issue during business hours. For anyone else having problems, try filing after 10 PM when the system load is lighter.

•THANK YOU for the update! I was about to try the late night approach. What time did you actually get it filed?

•Filed at 11:17 PM and got the confirmation immediately. Such a relief after stressing about it all day.

•This is good intel. I have a continuation due next month in Louisiana, definitely filing it well before the deadline.

Just want to add that I started using Certana.ai after a filing got rejected for a debtor name mismatch I didn't catch. It would have prevented that whole mess. Now I run everything through it before submitting - gives me peace of mind that all the document details align properly.

•How accurate is it? I'm always paranoid about missing something in the debtor name formatting.

•Very accurate. It caught differences I never would have spotted manually, like extra spaces and punctuation inconsistencies.

For future reference, Louisiana allows you to file continuations up to 6 months before expiration. I always file mine at least 2-3 months early to avoid these last-minute system issues. Learned that lesson the hard way.

•Definitely learned my lesson here. This was way too stressful. Filing early from now on.

•Smart approach. I do the same thing - file continuations as soon as I'm eligible.

•Yeah procrastinating on UCC continuations is just asking for trouble. Too much risk if something goes wrong.

Final update: Got my continuation filed at 11:45 PM and received confirmation this morning. Crisis averted! Thanks everyone for the advice and moral support. Going to set calendar reminders to file continuations way earlier next time.

Wow, what a roller coaster! I've been following this thread and I'm so glad you got it sorted out in the end. As someone who's been burned by last-minute filing issues before, this is a great reminder that state UCC systems can be unpredictable. The late night filing strategy is brilliant - I never would have thought to try that. I'm definitely going to start filing my continuations months in advance rather than waiting until the last week. Also really interested in the Certana.ai tool that was mentioned - seems like it could save a lot of headaches by catching those tiny formatting issues that cause rejections. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences and tips!
