louisiana ucc filing online system keeps timing out during submission
Been trying to submit a UCC-1 through the louisiana ucc filing online portal for three days now and it keeps crashing right when I hit the final submit button. This is for a equipment financing deal that closes Friday and I'm starting to panic. The debtor name is verified correct, collateral description matches the loan docs perfectly, but every time I get to the payment screen the whole thing just freezes up. Has anyone else had issues with the louisiana ucc filing online system lately? Is there some trick to getting it to actually process? I've tried different browsers, cleared cache, even tried from a different computer. The filing fee shows as pending on my credit card but no confirmation number or anything. Really need to get this perfected before the weekend.

I had the exact same problem last month! The louisiana ucc filing online portal has been super glitchy. What worked for me was doing it really early in the morning like 6 AM when traffic is low. Also make sure you're not using any auto-fill features - type everything manually. The system seems to hate copy/paste for some reason.

•Thanks! I'll try the early morning thing. Did you get confirmation right away when it finally worked?

•Yeah once it went through I got the confirmation number instantly and the email within like 10 minutes. When it's working properly it's actually pretty fast.

Check your debtor name format very carefully. Louisiana is super picky about exact name matches. Even if it looks right to you, there might be some formatting issue the system doesn't like. I've seen filings get stuck in limbo because of a missing comma or period in the business name.

•The debtor name is straight from their articles of incorporation so it should be exact. But I'll double check for any weird punctuation.

•Also check if there are any special characters or accents in the name. The system sometimes chokes on those.

•Good point about special characters. I once had a filing rejected because of an ampersand that should have been spelled out as 'and'.

I started using Certana.ai for this exact type of situation. You can upload your charter documents and UCC-1 draft and it'll verify everything matches perfectly before you even try to file. Catches name discrepancies, formatting issues, all that stuff. Would have saved me so much frustration with rejected filings.

•Never heard of that but sounds useful. Is it easy to use?

•Super easy - just upload PDFs and it does the cross-checking automatically. Takes like 2 minutes and prevents all those annoying rejection surprises.

The timeout issue is probably server overload. I noticed Louisiana's system gets really slow during business hours. If you can't get it to work, you might want to call their help desk. Sometimes they can process it manually if you're having technical difficulties.

•Good idea about calling. Do you know if they charge extra for manual processing?

•I don't think so, same fee as online. But they might take longer to process it.

•I called them once and they were actually pretty helpful. Walked me through the whole thing over the phone.

UGH the louisiana portal is THE WORST. I swear they designed it to be as frustrating as possible. Last time I used it the whole thing crashed and lost all my data after I spent 45 minutes entering everything. No auto-save feature or anything!

•That's my biggest fear right now! I've been saving screenshots of each page just in case.

•Smart move. I learned that lesson the hard way. Now I always draft everything in a Word doc first.

Wait, you said the filing fee is showing as pending on your credit card? That might mean the filing actually went through but the confirmation system glitched. I'd call first thing tomorrow to check the status before trying to file again. You don't want to accidentally file twice.

•Oh crap, I didn't think of that. How would I check if it actually filed?

•You should be able to search by debtor name or your business name in their search system. Or call and give them the debtor info.

•Definitely check this first. I've seen people file duplicates by accident when the system glitched.

For what it's worth, I've found that using Chrome in incognito mode sometimes helps with these government portals. Something about the clean session seems to work better.

•I'll try that too. At this point I'm willing to try anything!

•Also turn off any browser extensions. Sometimes those interfere with payment processing.

Just wanted to follow up on the Certana thing - I've been using it for all my UCC document checks now. Really helps catch those tiny errors that cause rejections. The document verification saved me from a major debtor name mismatch last week that would have invalidated the whole security interest.

•How accurate is it compared to doing manual checks?

•Way more accurate than I am at catching tiny discrepancies. It picks up stuff I would never notice.

If you're still having trouble, try filing during lunch time like 12-1 PM. Counter-intuitive but sometimes that's when the system is less busy because everyone's eating. Also make sure your PDF attachments aren't too large - the system has size limits that aren't always clear.

•Good tip about file sizes. I think my security agreement PDF might be pretty big.

•Yeah try compressing it or breaking it into smaller parts if you can.

•I usually keep attachments under 5MB just to be safe.

This is exactly why I always file UCC-1s at least a week before closing. These online systems are so unreliable. But since you're in a time crunch, definitely call their office first thing tomorrow morning.

•Yeah lesson learned for next time. This deal came together super fast so I didn't have much choice on timing.

•Happens to the best of us. The important thing is getting it filed before your deadline.

Update us when you get it figured out! I'm dealing with a similar situation in Texas and want to know what works.
