Student part of FAFSA completed but no confirmation email received - what next?
I'm seriously concerned about my daughter's FAFSA application. She completed her student portion of the 2025-26 FAFSA two weeks ago but never received any confirmation email. When she logs into studentaid.gov, it shows her portion as 'completed' but there's no SAI calculation or any next steps displayed. I've already completed my parent contribution section, but without her receiving that initial email with her FSA ID verification, I'm worried something went wrong. Has anyone dealt with this before? Should we just start over with a new application or is there a way to request the confirmation email be resent? I don't want to mess up her financial aid opportunities because of a technical glitch.

This is actually pretty common with the new FAFSA system. The confirmation emails have been delayed for many students, sometimes taking up to 10 days to arrive. If the studentaid.gov portal shows her portion as 'completed,' that's the most important indicator. You mentioned you completed your parent contribution - did the system allow you to link to her application without issues? If so, that means her portion was properly submitted and recognized in the system.

•Yes, I was able to complete my parent contribution without any issues. The system recognized her and linked everything correctly. I just worry because without that email, I don't know if there are additional verification steps she needs to complete. The whole process has been so confusing this year!

•Thanks for sharing your experience! That's reassuring to hear. Did your kid eventually receive their SAI score without the confirmation email?

NOTHING about the new FAFSA system works right!!! My son never got his email either and guess what? Two weeks later we found out his app was DELETED from the system!!! No explanation!! Had to start all over and missed priority deadline for his top school. This entire system is a DISASTER and nobody at ED cares!!

•Oh no, that's terrible! Now I'm even more worried. Did you get any explanation when you called them about why the application was deleted?

If studentaid.gov shows the student portion as completed and you were able to complete your parent contribution, you should be fine. However, you should verify two things: 1. Check that your daughter's email address is correctly entered in her FSA ID profile 2. Have her check her spam/junk folders thoroughly If you want absolute confirmation, you'll need to contact Federal Student Aid directly. Unfortunately, their phone lines are often overwhelmed this time of year.

•We've checked her email address multiple times and also looked through all spam folders. Nothing there. I've tried calling FSA three times but keep getting disconnected after 45+ minutes on hold. It's so frustrating!

Have you tried checking with her school's financial aid office? Sometimes they can see if the FAFSA has been properly submitted on their end even before you get all the confirmations. They helped me when i had a similar problem last year

•That's a good suggestion. I hadn't thought about contacting her school's financial aid office directly. I'll try that tomorrow morning.

I had this exact issue when helping my nephew with his FAFSA. After waiting on hold with Federal Student Aid for nearly 2 hours with no answer, I finally discovered Claimyr (claimyr.com). They got me connected to a real FSA agent in about 8 minutes who confirmed everything was properly submitted despite no email confirmation. Saved me hours of stress! They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/TbC8dZQWYNQ

•THANK YOU for this!!! I've been trying to reach someone at FSA for three days straight about my son's verification issues!!! Will definitely try this.

•This sounds really helpful. After my third attempt calling and getting disconnected, I'm willing to try anything. I'll check it out.

sometimes the system just glitches tbh. my daughter never got her email either but when we logged into her college portal a week later her fafsa was showing as received. did ur daughter check w/ her colleges yet?

•No, she hasn't checked with her colleges yet. She's applying to 5 different schools, so I wasn't sure if they'd have that information already. I'll have her log into her portals tonight to check.

After reviewing all the comments, here's what I recommend: 1. Have your daughter check her college portals to see if her FAFSA was received 2. Contact one of her school's financial aid offices directly 3. If you need immediate confirmation from FSA directly (which is the most reliable option), consider using a service like the one mentioned to get through to an agent Given that you were able to complete your portion and link to her application, it's highly likely everything is properly submitted. The email system has been notoriously unreliable this cycle.

•Thank you so much for this clear breakdown of next steps. I feel much better having a plan. I'm going to start with checking the college portals tonight, then contact the financial aid office tomorrow. If I still need confirmation after that, I'll try reaching FSA directly.

btw make sure u tell ur daughter to keep checking her email and fsa portal regularly cuz sometimes they ask for verification after everything looks completed. my son got asked for tax documents 3 weeks after we thought everything was done. almost missed the deadline!!!

•That's great advice - thank you! I'll make sure she checks both regularly. This process is so much more complicated than when I was in college!
