Missing FAFSA correction emails after January submission - should I be worried?

I submitted my FAFSA back in early January and I'm seeing posts everywhere about people getting emails to make corrections. I haven't received ANY communication about corrections or changes needed. My account on studentaid.gov just shows "submitted" but nothing else. I'm starting to freak out because my college is asking for my SAI score and I don't have it yet. Has anyone else been waiting since January with no correction emails? Is this normal or did my application get lost in the system? Should I be contacting someone or just keep waiting?

mine took 10 weeks for them to even look at it lol. this years FAFSA is complete garbage

10 WEEKS?? That's insane. Did you ever get any emails about corrections or did it just suddenly process?

Not everyone needs to make corrections. My daughter's went through without needing any, but my son had to fix his contributor section. Depends on your situation I think.

That's good to know! Maybe mine is fine then? I just wish there was some kind of status update beyond "submitted

The Department of Education has been experiencing significant delays with the 2025-2026 FAFSA processing. If you submitted in January, you should have received at least an acknowledgment email. Check your spam folder first. If nothing's there, I recommend checking your status through the Help Center on studentaid.gov. Some important information: 1. Not everyone needs to make corrections - only if there are issues with your application 2. The new SAI calculation system is causing backlogs 3. Some schools are extending their priority deadlines because of the delays If your school needs your SAI urgently, you should contact Federal Student Aid directly at 1-800-433-3243 to ask about your application status.

Thank you for such a detailed response! I've checked my spam folder about 100 times but will try the Help Center. The school's deadline is next week so I'm definitely going to try calling that number.

I HATE the new FAFSA system!!!! I had to submit mine THREE TIMES because it kept glitching out and losing my parent contributor information. Then I got 4 different correction emails for things that weren't even my fault! The whole system is broken and nobody at the financial aid office can help because they're just as confused as we are. Good luck even getting through on that phone number - I tried calling for TWO WEEKS straight and never got through to a real person.

This is exactly what I'm afraid of! I'm worried my application is just sitting there with problems and I don't even know about it.

Hey there! Financial aid advisor here. The 2025-2026 FAFSA rollout has been challenging for everyone. Here's what you should know: 1. Correction emails only go out if the system flags something that needs fixing. No email could be a good sign! 2. Processing times are anywhere from 4-12 weeks right now, depending on your specific situation. 3. Your SAI calculation won't be available until processing is 100% complete. 4. Have you checked if your school's financial aid office can see your FAFSA in their system? Sometimes they can see it's been received even if it's still processing. 5. If your school's deadline is approaching, contact your financial aid office directly. Most schools are being flexible this year because of the FAFSA delays.

This is really helpful! I'll check with my school's financial aid office tomorrow to see if they can at least see that I've submitted it. The deadline is next Friday so I'm getting pretty anxious about it.

I was in the same situation and tried calling the Federal Student Aid number for days without getting through. Then I found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to a FAFSA agent in less than 30 minutes when I'd been trying for days on my own. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/TbC8dZQWYNQ The agent told me my application was actually complete but stuck in "submitted" status due to a technical glitch. They fixed it while I was on the phone and my SAI showed up in my account the next day. Might be worth trying if you're on a deadline.

does that really work? seems sketchy to me

My neighbor's son submitted in December and just got his SAI last week with no correction emails. Some applications just take longer I guess, especially with all the problems this year.

December to mid-April with no communication? That's ridiculous! But at least it gives me hope that mine might still be processing normally.

If your school's deadline is next week, I'd recommend taking action now rather than waiting. Here are three steps to take immediately: 1. Email your school's financial aid office explaining that you submitted in January but haven't received your SAI yet. Ask if they can verify your FAFSA was received in their system. 2. Try contacting FSA through studentaid.gov using the contact form in addition to calling. 3. If you can't get through to FSA by phone after a few attempts, consider using a call connection service or asking your school's financial aid office if they have a direct contact who can check your application status. Most schools understand the issues with this year's FAFSA and have procedures in place for students in your situation.

I'm going to do all three of these things tomorrow! Thanks for the clear steps - this makes me feel like I have a plan at least.

lol everyone at my school is having the same problem. financial aid office told us to just wait and said they moved back the housing deposit deadline bc of the FAFSA mess

I wish my school would do that! They're still expecting everything by May 1st even with all these delays.

Just want to give you some hope - my daughter submitted in January too and randomly got her SAI yesterday with no emails or anything beforehand. The system just updated. Maybe check your account again?

Just checked again and still nothing 😭 But it's good to know it might just suddenly appear!

UPDATE: I called FSA this morning using that Claimyr service I mentioned, and the agent was super helpful. Turns out my application was complete but stuck in a processing queue. She manually pushed it through and said my SAI should appear within 3-5 business days! So relieved I didn't wait any longer to call.

Figures that you have to PAY someone just to get the government to do their job! This whole FAFSA system is a JOKE.
