Anyone's mid-March FAFSA actually processed yet? Where do you check status?

I finally submitted my FAFSA on March 14th after dealing with all the new system issues, and I'm STILL waiting to hear anything. It's been over a month! I keep checking the studentaid.gov main dashboard but it just says "processing" with no timeline. Do they email you when it's done? Or is there some other place I should be looking? The financial aid deadline for my top choice school is coming up fast and I'm getting really anxious. Has anyone who applied around mid-March actually gotten their SAI score or had their application fully processed yet?

Same boat. Applied March 16 and still nothing. The whole system is a disaster this year!

Ugh, that's so frustrating! Have you tried calling them? I tried twice but couldn't get through.

I applied March 10th and just got my SAI yesterday. They don't always send an email - I had to check my dashboard. Click on \

Thank you SO much! I just checked and still no report available. At least now I know where to look.

This new system is GARBAGE!!! I applied FEBRUARY 2nd and just got processed last week!! That's over TWO MONTHS! And my daughter's scholarship deadlines came and went while we waited. Thanks for nothing, Department of Ed! 🤬

Financial aid counselor here. The processing delays this year are unprecedented due to the FAFSA Simplification Act changes. A few things to know:\n\n1. Processing times are currently 4-6 weeks minimum for straightforward applications\n2. You should check your status on studentaid.gov under \

Thank you for this info! Do you know if I need to do anything special for my parents' information? They both contributed but are divorced, and I'm worried that might be slowing things down.

For divorced parents, the 2024-2025 FAFSA only requires information from the parent who provided more financial support during the past 12 months (and their spouse if remarried). If you entered information for both biological parents despite their divorce, that could potentially cause confusion in the system. However, there's no way to edit the application now - you'd need to wait for processing to complete, then potentially submit a correction.

I only included my mom and stepdad since I lived with them most of last year. Hopefully that's correct and won't cause more delays!

For real! I'm a junior and my older sister got her FAFSA processed in like 10 days last cycle. Now I'm sitting here watching my financial aid deadlines approach with nothing to submit. Great \

After waiting for 5 weeks with my application stuck in processing, I finally managed to speak with someone at Federal Student Aid by using Claimyr (claimyr.com). It saved me hours of hold time and they actually connected me with an agent in about 20 minutes. The agent was able to tell me my application had a flag for income verification that wasn't showing up on my dashboard. There's a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/TbC8dZQWYNQ\n\nWithout that call I would've been waiting forever not knowing why it was delayed. At least now I'm working on resolving the issue.

Yes, there is a fee, but it was worth it to me after spending hours trying to get through on my own. They don't charge until they actually connect you with an agent.

This is actually helpful, I might try this if mine doesn't process by next week. Did they tell you anything about the typical processing timeframe for apps submitted in March?

Quick update for everyone - I just checked the Federal Student Aid social media accounts and they posted yesterday that they're now processing applications from mid-March. So hopefully many of you should see movement in the next week or so. They also mentioned that not all applicants receive email notifications, so manual checking is recommended.

That's so good to hear! Mine was just 2 days after yours so hopefully it'll be any day now. Did it get sent to her schools automatically or did she have to do something else?

It should transmit to schools automatically based on the ones she listed on the FAFSA. We're still waiting for her financial aid packages though - that's another waiting game altogether!

Thanks! At this point I just want to get through the first waiting game before I start worrying about the second one 😅
