FAFSA digital signature missing - can't find where to sign the application
I'm at the very end of my FAFSA application for 2025-2026 and there's literally no place to sign it! I've gone through every page twice, and I keep expecting to see a signature box or something that says "sign here" but there's nothing. I swear I'm not missing anything obvious. The FSA ID page said something about digital signatures, but I don't see where to actually SIGN the darn thing. Does anyone know how this works? I've spent 3 hours filling this out and now I'm stuck at the very end!

•Are you serious?? That's it?? I was looking all over for some kind of signature page or checkbox to click. So I just hit submit and I'm done???

Signing the FAFSA confused me too last year! Your FSA ID works as your electronic signature. When you created your FSA ID, you agreed to let it serve as your legal signature for FAFSA purposes. Just make sure both you and your parent (if you're a dependent) are using your own separate FSA IDs to sign in and submit the form.

•Thank you! That makes sense now. I was overthinking it. My dad needs his own FSA ID though? He was just planning to use mine when I was done with my part.

Just to clarify some important details: Yes, your FSA ID serves as your electronic signature, but there IS actually a final submission page where both student and parent (for dependent students) need to check a box confirming the information is correct before submitting. Each person (student and parent) MUST have their own separate FSA ID - sharing FSA IDs is against federal regulations and can cause serious problems with your application. The submission page should show checkboxes for agreements about accuracy of information, use of data, etc. After checking those boxes, you'll see the final submit button. If you're not seeing this page, you might not actually be at the end of the application yet.

•THANK YOU! This was exactly my confusion. I think I still had a few more screens to go through. I found the checkbox page after going through 2 more steps. And I'll make sure my dad creates his own FSA ID tonight.

I just went through this last week!!! The WHOLE PROCESS is insane, they make everything so confusing. I thought my browser was broken because I couldn't find where to sign either lol. The FSA ID thing is your signature but also your parent needs THEIR OWN fsa id they can't use yours AT ALL. My mom tried to use mine and it locked the whole application for 3 days!! ðŸ˜

•Oh no! That sounds awful. I'll definitely make sure my dad gets his own FSA ID set up before we try to submit. Thanks for the warning!

Had the same problem but with the mobile app. Turns out the FAFSA app has a different flow than the website version. On the app you have to go through EACH section (all 6 of them) and mark them complete before you get to the signature page. So annoyingggg.

I work in a college financial aid office, and this is one of our most common questions! Here's what you need to know: 1. Your FSA ID is your digital signature 2. Both student and any contributing parent MUST have separate FSA IDs 3. The system will ask you to verify info with checkboxes before final submission 4. Look for the "SIGN & SUBMIT" section in the navigation menu If you're still having trouble finding the submission page, try looking at the progress tracker at the top of the FAFSA form - you might be missing a required section that's preventing you from reaching the signature page. Also, check that you haven't skipped any required questions (they'll have red asterisks).

•Thank you so much for this detailed explanation! I found the checkboxes page after going through a couple more sections. I guess I wasn't as close to the end as I thought.

I had this EXACT same issue two weeks ago and couldn't get through to anyone at FSA. The phone wait times were ridiculous - it said "greater than 60 minutes" every time I called. I finally used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to a live agent in about 10 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/TbC8dZQWYNQ The agent walked me through the whole signature process. Turns out I had a verification flag on my account from incorrectly entering my parents' tax info, and that was hiding the signature page. Might be worth checking if something similar is happening to you.

•I've never heard of Claimyr before. I'll keep that in mind if I run into more problems. I think I've figured out the signature issue now, but I'm worried about the parent FSA ID situation. My dad isn't very tech-savvy.

my cousin had this problem and it turned out his application was actually incomplete even though he thought he was done! the FAFSA website is THE WORST. make sure you've actually completed everything before freaking out about the signature.

Hey did you get this resolved? I had a similar issue and realized I needed to complete the "Agreements" section first before I could sign and submit. Just checking if you were able to submit your application!

•Yes! Thanks for checking. I found the agreements page and the checkboxes, and then helped my dad set up his FSA ID. We got it submitted yesterday. What a relief!
