FAFSA deadline panic - stuck on submission page for weeks now
I am literally losing my mind trying to submit my FAFSA for the 25-26 school year. It's already April and I STILL can't get past the submission page! Every time I click submit, the page just refreshes back to the beginning of the form summary. Does ANYONE else have this problem?? My college's priority deadline was March 15 and I'm terrified I'll lose all my financial aid. I've tried different browsers, clearing cookies, even using my roommate's laptop! Nothing works! Called the Fed Aid number 6 times but keep getting disconnected after 45+ mins on hold. I NEED this aid for next semester. Is the system just broken or am I doing something wrong? Getting desperate!!

Same issue here since mid-March! The submit button just loads forever then brings me back to the review page. Super frustrating. Called FSA 8 times and either get disconnected or they tell me to "try again later" which is USELESS. My school keeps sending reminders about missing FAFSA and I don't know what to tell them anymore. Did you try submitting during off-hours? I heard 2am-5am might have less traffic.

•I DID try at 3am last Thursday! Same exact issue - endless processing loop. I'm going to email my financial aid office today and see if they know anything about this. So frustrating that we're both dealing with this!

•Thanks, I'll double check my popup settings. I thought I disabled all blockers but maybe I missed something! Getting desperate enough to try ANYTHING at this point.

This is a known issue with the new FAFSA system. The problem is usually with one of three things: 1. There's a data validation error somewhere in your application that isn't being properly flagged 2. Your FSA ID credentials may need to be refreshed (even if you can log in) 3. The parent/contributor section has incomplete data First, export a PDF of your application to check for any missing fields or inconsistencies. Then try logging out completely, clearing your browser cache, and creating a new FSA ID. If that doesn't work, the parent contributor may need to re-verify their section separately. The new FAFSA has been plagued with these technical issues since launch.

•Thank you so much for these suggestions! I didn't know we could export a PDF - I'll do that right now to check for errors. My mom did the contributor section, so maybe something got messed up there. Really appreciate the detailed advice!

Ugh this new FAFSA system is such a DISASTER! I had the same issue and literally had to start my entire application over from scratch. Wasted 3 weeks trying to fix it. The whole system is rigged to deny people aid IMO. They make it impossible on purpose.

•While the system definitely has problems, starting over is rarely the best approach. The data is usually saved in the system, so creating a new application typically transfers all the same issues. Instead, try contacting your school's financial aid office directly - they often have dedicated staff who can troubleshoot these specific FAFSA submission errors and may even have direct channels to resolve them.

Tech support rep at my college showed me a workaround for this specific issue. The problem is usually with the summary page caching incorrectly. Try these exact steps: 1. Log out completely and clear browser cache 2. Use Chrome in incognito mode (important!) 3. Log back in with your FSA ID 4. Skip directly to the summary page using the navigation menu 5. Review all sections but DO NOT edit anything 6. Submit from there If that fails, there's probably a data validation error that needs fixing. Most common is mismatched SSN digits or birth dates between your section and parent contributor section.

•These are amazingly specific instructions - thank you! Going to try this exact process right now and report back if it works. The incognito mode suggestion is new to me, fingers crossed this does the trick!

I've been trying to get through to FSA for 3 weeks with the same issue. After several disconnected calls and hours on hold, I found Claimyr (claimyr.com) and it was a game-changer. It held my place in line with FSA and called me when an agent was ready. The agent confirmed there was a system error with my parent contribution section and fixed it on their end. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/TbC8dZQWYNQ - totally worth it after wasting so many hours on hold!

This is almost certainly a browser compatibility issue. The FAFSA submission system has known problems with certain configurations. Here's what worked for me and the three students I advise who had the same problem: 1. The system works best with Chrome or Edge (Firefox has the most issues) 2. Completely reset your FSA ID password before attempting submission 3. Make sure your parent/contributor has also verified their email recently 4. Try a completely different network (like mobile hotspot instead of WiFi) The new SAI calculation system is extremely sensitive to technical errors. If you're still stuck after trying these fixes, contact your school's financial aid office and ask for a direct contact at Federal Student Aid. Many schools have special channels for urgent cases.

•Thank you for these suggestions! I've been using Firefox the whole time, so maybe that's part of the problem. Going to try Chrome with a reset password and my phone's hotspot. Really appreciate the expert advice - fingers crossed!

Any updates??? Did those suggestions work for you? I'm still stuck in FAFSA limbo over here and getting more desperate by the day. My school's final deadline is May 1st.

•YES!! IT WORKED! I followed the advice from @profile2 with the incognito mode in Chrome plus using my phone hotspot instead of wifi. The submission finally went through last night! Got the confirmation email and everything. Try that exact combination - it seems like the wifi network might have been part of my problem all along.

Glad to hear you got it working! For anyone else with this issue, I should add that the Education Department announced yesterday they've extended priority deadlines specifically because of these technical problems. Most schools are being flexible with the FAFSA deadlines this year due to the well-documented system issues. If you're still struggling, bring documentation of your attempts to your financial aid office - screenshots of errors, dates of support calls, etc. Many schools have processes for manual verification when students have made good-faith efforts to submit.

•That's really good to know about the extended deadlines! I was so stressed about missing out on aid. I'm going to email my financial aid office anyway just to make sure they know I had technical difficulties in case anything is missing from my submission.
