Why did I only get paid for one week of unemployment Washington ESD?
I'm really confused about my Washington ESD payment. I filed my weekly claims for two weeks but only received payment for one week. My claim status shows both weeks as processed but the payment only covered one week. I checked my account and there's no explanation for why the second week wasn't paid. Has anyone else experienced this? I need to figure out what happened because I'm counting on both payments to cover my rent.

This happens more often than you'd think. Check your weekly claim history to see if there's a difference between the two weeks. Sometimes one week gets flagged for verification or there's a small discrepancy that holds up payment.

•I looked but both weeks look identical to me. Same job search activities, same availability status. Really frustrated right now.

•Did you report any earnings for either week? Even a small amount can affect payment processing differently between weeks.

Had this exact issue last month! Turned out one of my weekly claims had a job search requirement issue that wasn't immediately obvious. The system approved the claim but held the payment pending review.

•How did you find out what the specific issue was? Washington ESD website doesn't give much detail.

•I had to call them to get the real explanation. Took forever to get through though - probably called 50+ times over three days.

If you're having trouble reaching Washington ESD by phone, there's actually a service called Claimyr that can help you get through to an agent. They handle the calling for you so you don't have to keep trying. Check out claimyr.com - they even have a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ showing how it works.

•Never heard of this but willing to try anything at this point. Getting through to Washington ESD is impossible.

•Is this legit? Seems too good to be true that someone else can call for you.

•Yeah it's real. I used it when I had an adjudication issue that dragged on for weeks. Much easier than spending hours on redial.

Look at your payment history details in your Washington ESD account. If one week shows 'paid' and the other shows 'pending' or 'under review', that's your answer. Common reasons include reporting changes, work search discrepancies, or identity verification holds.

•Both weeks just show 'processed' but only one payment came through. This is so confusing.

•Processed doesn't always mean paid. Check the actual payment status column - it should show either 'paid', 'pending', or 'denied' for each week.

this happened to me too!! filed for 3 weeks but only got 2 payments. never figured out why the third week didn't pay. washington esd is so confusing

Javier Torres
•Did you ever get that third week paid or just gave up?

•gave up trying to call them. figured it wasn't worth the hassle for one week

Check if you had any employer responses to your claim between those two weeks. Sometimes an employer will contest a claim after it's already been processed, which can freeze subsequent payments while they review the contest.

•How would I know if my employer contested? I left on good terms so I wouldn't expect that.

•You'd get a notice in your account or by mail. But it's not always about bad terms - sometimes it's just routine HR procedure.

THE SYSTEM IS BROKEN!! Same thing happened to my cousin and they made her wait 6 weeks for an explanation. Washington ESD doesn't care about people trying to survive!

•That's terrifying. I really hope I don't have to wait that long.

•While it's frustrating, most payment issues get resolved within 1-2 weeks once you get through to someone who can look at your specific case.

Did you file both weekly claims on the same day or different days? Sometimes the timing can affect payment processing, especially if there's a holiday or system maintenance between filings.

Javier Torres
•I filed them on different days but both within the required timeframe. Shouldn't matter right?

Isabella Ferreira
•Usually doesn't matter but I've seen weird timing issues cause payment delays. Worth mentioning when you call.

Quick question - are you on regular UI or some other program? Different benefit types have different payment schedules and requirements.

•Just regular unemployment insurance. Nothing special about my claim as far as I know.

Update on my earlier comment - I ended up using that Claimyr service someone mentioned and it actually worked great. Got connected to a Washington ESD agent within a few hours instead of spending days trying to call myself.

•Same here, used Claimyr last week for a different issue and it saved me so much time and frustration.

Check if you have any outstanding issues in your account that you might have missed. Sometimes there's a small notification or requirement that blocks payment for one week but not another.

•I've looked through everything multiple times but maybe I'm missing something obvious.

•Look specifically for any yellow or red notifications in your account dashboard. They're easy to miss but critical.

honestly this is why i always screenshot everything when i file my weekly claims. too many weird things happen with payments

•Smart idea. I'm definitely going to start doing that.

Most likely scenarios: 1) Job search requirement issue on one week, 2) Earnings reported differently between weeks, or 3) System glitch that requires manual review. The key is getting someone at Washington ESD to actually look at your account.

•Those all sound possible. I really need to talk to someone there to get this sorted out.

This exact same thing happened to me in December! One week paid, one week didn't. Turned out to be a job search activity that got flagged as insufficient even though I thought I did everything right.
0 coins
Javier Torres
•How did they determine it was insufficient? I thought I followed all the requirements.

Zara Ahmed
•They said one of my job applications didn't meet their criteria because the company wasn't actively hiring. I had no way to know that when I applied.

Don't panic yet. Payment timing can be weird sometimes. I've had weeks where payments came 2-3 days apart even though I filed the claims together.

•It's been over a week since I should have received the second payment though.

Try checking your payment method. Sometimes there's an issue with direct deposit or the debit card that affects one payment but not another.

Javier Torres
•Good point. I'll double check my banking info in the system.
0 coins
Emma Davis
•Yes, and if you recently changed banks or got a new debit card, that could definitely cause this issue.

Whatever you do, keep filing your weekly claims even while this is getting sorted out. Don't let this issue cause you to miss future weeks.

Javier Torres
•Absolutely. I'm not going to let this mess up my future benefits.

I work in HR and see this sometimes. Usually it's a minor discrepancy that triggers a review. The good news is once they figure it out, you'll get paid for the missing week.
0 coins
Javier Torres
•That's reassuring. I was worried I might lose that week's payment entirely.

•Rarely happens unless there's actual fraud or a major eligibility issue. Most likely just a paperwork holdup.

Just wanted to add that if you do end up using Claimyr, they were super helpful when I had a similar payment issue. Got me connected to someone who could actually see what was wrong with my account.

UPDATE: I ended up using Claimyr and finally got through to Washington ESD. Turns out one of my job search activities was flagged as incomplete because I didn't include enough detail in the description. They're releasing the payment now. Thanks everyone for the help!
