Who eligible for unemployment benefits in Washington - confused about requirements
I'm trying to figure out if I qualify for Washington ESD unemployment benefits but the website is confusing me. I worked part-time for about 8 months before getting laid off last week. My friend said I might not be eligible because I wasn't full-time, but another coworker thinks I should apply anyway. What are the actual requirements to be eligible for unemployment in Washington? Do you have to work full-time or for a certain amount of time? I don't want to waste my time applying if I'm not going to qualify.

You don't need to work full-time to qualify for Washington ESD benefits. The main requirements are that you earned enough wages during your base period (usually the first 4 of the last 5 completed quarters) and that you're unemployed through no fault of your own. Part-time work can definitely count toward your wage requirements.

Here are the basic eligibility requirements for Washington unemployment: 1) You must have earned sufficient wages during your base period, 2) You must be unemployed through no fault of your own (layoffs, business closure, reduction in hours), 3) You must be able and available to work, 4) You must actively seek work.
