When does my unemployment get deposited after filing weekly claim?
I just filed my weekly claim on Sunday and I'm wondering when the money actually shows up in my account. This is my second week claiming and last time I think it took a few days but I can't remember exactly. Does Washington ESD have a set schedule for when they deposit unemployment payments? I have bills due this week and need to know if I should expect it today, tomorrow, or later in the week.

Usually takes 2-3 business days after you file your weekly claim. So if you filed Sunday, you should see it by Tuesday or Wednesday depending on your bank.

•Thanks! That matches what I was thinking. Just wanted to make sure nothing changed.

Washington ESD processes payments Monday through Wednesday typically. If you filed your weekly claim by 11:59 PM on Saturday or Sunday, you should receive your deposit by Wednesday. The exact day depends on your bank's processing time - some release the funds as soon as they receive them, others hold until the next business day.

•Good to know about the Saturday deadline. I always file on Sunday so I should be in the first batch.

•Wait I thought the deadline was Sunday night? I've been filing Monday mornings sometimes.

•You can file anytime during your weekly claim period, but filing earlier in the week usually means faster processing. Monday filings might not get processed until the next cycle.

I've been dealing with Washington ESD for months and the deposit timing has been pretty consistent. What I found super helpful when I had questions about my payment schedule was using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to actually get through to an ESD agent. They have this system that calls you back when an agent is available instead of staying on hold forever. There's a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows how it works. The agent was able to explain exactly when my payments would hit based on my claim type.

•Interesting, I've never heard of that service. Does it actually work? I tried calling ESD directly last month and gave up after an hour on hold.

•Yeah it actually worked for me. You put in your info and they call you back when they get an agent on the line. Way better than sitting on hold all day.

•Sounds too good to be true but if it works that's awesome. The phone system is such a nightmare.

This might be a dumb question but do they deposit on weekends? I filed late last week and I'm not sure if I missed the cutoff.

•No weekend deposits from Washington ESD. They only process payments on business days Monday-Friday.

•Ok that makes sense, thanks for clarifying!

ugh the timing is so unpredictable sometimes!! last week mine came tuesday, this week it was wednesday. makes it hard to plan when bills are due

•I think it depends on your bank too. Credit unions seem slower than big banks in my experience.

•yeah i have a small local bank so that might be it

•The variation is usually on the bank side, not Washington ESD. They release payments on a pretty consistent schedule.

Pro tip: if you have direct deposit set up properly in your ESD account, it's much faster than waiting for a debit card. The ReliaCard can sometimes have delays.

•I'm using direct deposit, so hopefully that helps with the timing.

•Wait there's a difference? I've been using the ReliaCard this whole time.

•Yeah direct deposit to your bank account is usually 1-2 days faster than the debit card in my experience.

The deposit schedule hasn't changed much over the years. What CAN delay things is if there are any issues with your claim that week - like if you forgot to report work hours or if there's an adjudication issue.

Nia Watson
•Good point. I made sure to report everything correctly this time so I should be all set.

•What happens if you make a mistake on your weekly claim? Can you fix it?

•You can contact ESD to make corrections, but it might delay your payment while they review it.

I remember when I first started claiming I was so stressed about when the money would come. Now I just file on Sunday and know it'll be there by Wednesday at the latest. The anxiety gets better once you know the pattern!

•Yeah I'm definitely still in the anxious phase. Good to know it gets more predictable.

If you're ever unsure about your payment status, you can check the 'Payment History' section in your eServices account. It shows when payments were issued and any holds or delays.

Nia Watson
•I didn't know about that section, I'll check it out. Thanks!

Sometimes there can be delays if Washington ESD is doing system maintenance too. They usually post notices about that on their website if it's going to affect payments.

Nia Watson
•I'll keep an eye on their website for any notices. Hopefully no maintenance this week!

Quinn Herbert
•The maintenance usually happens over weekends so it shouldn't affect regular processing times.

I had a situation where my payment was delayed because my job search contacts weren't entered correctly. Took an extra week to sort out. Make sure all your job search activities are logged properly!

•Good reminder about the job search log. I've been keeping track but I should double-check the format.

•How many job contacts do you need per week? I keep forgetting the requirement.

•It's 3 job search activities per week for most people, but check your individual requirements in eServices.

Another thing that can help if you're having payment issues is that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier. I used it when my payments stopped for no apparent reason and the agent was able to see there was a system glitch on my account. Got it fixed the same day instead of waiting weeks for a response to my online message.

•Wow that's exactly the kind of situation where I'd want to talk to someone directly. Good to know there's an option.

Banks also have different posting times even for ACH deposits. Some post overnight, others wait until business hours. So even if Washington ESD releases your payment Tuesday, you might not see it until Wednesday morning depending on your bank's schedule.

•That makes sense. I guess there are a lot of variables in the timing.

•Yeah it's not just Washington ESD, there's the whole banking system involved too.

One thing I learned is that if you file your weekly claim really late on Sunday night, sometimes it doesn't get processed until the next batch. I try to file by Sunday afternoon to be safe.

The deposit timing has been really reliable for me. What's NOT reliable is getting through to customer service when you have questions! That's where services like Claimyr come in handy - they basically solve the biggest problem with the whole system which is actually talking to a human when you need help.
0 coins
Nia Watson
•Yeah I can see how that would be valuable. The automated system only goes so far.

Brian Downey
•Exactly. When you need actual help with your claim, there's no substitute for talking to an agent who can look at your account.

Just wanted to add that holidays can affect the schedule too. If Monday is a holiday, everything shifts by a day usually.

Nia Watson

Overall the system works pretty well once you know what to expect. File your claim on time, make sure all your info is correct, and the money comes pretty consistently. The 2-3 day window after filing is accurate in my experience.

One last tip - set up account alerts with your bank so you get notified when deposits hit. Then you don't have to keep checking manually!

•That's a great idea! I'm definitely going to set that up. Thanks for all the helpful advice everyone!
