What time can I file unemployment on Sunday - Washington ESD system hours?
Does anyone know what time the Washington ESD website opens on Sundays for filing weekly claims? I usually file on Tuesdays but I'm going to be out of town next week and need to get my claim in early. I tried logging in around 6 AM this morning but the system seemed to be down or something. Is there a specific time when the site becomes available on Sundays?

The Washington ESD system is usually available 24/7 for weekly claims, but they do maintenance on Sunday mornings. I think it's typically back up by 8 AM or so, but I'm not 100% sure on the exact time.

•Thanks! I'll try again around 8 AM then. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something obvious.

•yeah i think its 8am too but sometimes the site is still glitchy even after that

From what I understand, Washington ESD does system maintenance on Sunday mornings from approximately 2 AM to 8 AM. During this time, you won't be able to access your account or file weekly claims. After 8 AM, the system should be fully operational for the rest of the week.

•Perfect, that explains why I couldn't get in this morning. I'll wait until after 8 AM next Sunday.

•This is really helpful info. I've been trying to figure out the best time to file my claims too since I work weird hours.

I've had issues with the Washington ESD website being slow or timing out even outside of maintenance hours. If you're having trouble getting through, you might want to try using a service like Claimyr to help you get connected to an agent who can assist with your claim filing. They have a website at claimyr.com and there's even a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows how it works.

•Never heard of Claimyr before but that sounds interesting. Sometimes I do have trouble getting through to Washington ESD when I need help.

•Thanks for the suggestion! I'll check that out in case I run into more issues with the website.

Washington ESD website is a joke sometimes. Even when it's supposed to be working it crashes or takes forever to load. I've missed filing deadlines before because of their technical problems.

•I feel your frustration. The system has definitely improved over the years but it still has issues during peak times.

•same here, ive had to call in before when the website wouldnt work

Just wanted to add that you can file your weekly claim any day of the week as long as it's before the deadline. You don't have to wait for Sunday specifically - you can file as early as the day after your claim week ends.

•Good to know! I didn't realize I could file earlier in the week. That might be easier than trying to remember on Sundays.

ThunderBolt7
•That's correct. The key is to file within the deadline window, which is typically by the end of the following week.

I always file my claims on Monday mornings to avoid any weekend technical issues. The system seems more stable during weekdays in my experience.

Carmen Sanchez
•That's a smart approach. I might switch to filing on Mondays instead.

•Good idea! I might try that too since I've had issues with the website being slow on weekends.

Does anyone know if there are specific hours when the Washington ESD phone lines are less busy? I sometimes need to call in my claim instead of using the website.

•Early morning right when they open tends to be better, but honestly their phone system is overwhelmed most of the time.

•This is exactly why I mentioned Claimyr earlier. They can help you get through to an actual Washington ESD agent much faster than trying to call on your own.

wait so we can file anytime during the week? i thought we had to wait until sunday. this is confusing

•You can file your weekly claim starting the day after your claim week ends. So if your claim week ends on a Saturday, you can file as early as Sunday and have until the following Saturday to submit it.

•oh ok that makes more sense. thanks for explaining

I've been filing my Washington ESD claims for over a year now and I've found that Tuesday mornings work best for me. The system is usually running smoothly by then and there's less traffic on the website.

•That's actually when I usually file too! Tuesdays have been pretty reliable for me.

•I'm going to try Tuesdays too. Thanks for the tip!

Just be careful about waiting too long to file. I know someone who missed their deadline because they kept putting it off and ended up having to appeal to get their benefits restored.

•Yikes, that's scary. I definitely don't want to risk that. Good reminder to stay on top of the deadlines.

•Yeah the deadline thing is no joke. Washington ESD doesn't mess around with late filings.

Has anyone else noticed that the Washington ESD website runs slower on certain browsers? I switched from Chrome to Firefox and it seemed to help with loading times.

•Interesting point. I use Chrome and haven't had major issues, but that's good to know if I run into problems.

•I might try that if I keep having issues. Thanks for the suggestion!

The 8 AM Sunday thing is definitely correct. I've been filing claims for months and that's when the system comes back online after maintenance.

•Thanks for confirming! It's good to have multiple people verify the same information.

•Agreed, 8 AM on Sunday is when I've seen it come back online consistently.

I wish Washington ESD would send out notifications when they're doing system maintenance. It would save a lot of people from trying to log in during those hours.

Amara Okonkwo
•That would be way too convenient for them to actually do. They seem to like keeping people in the dark about these things.

ThunderBolt7
•They do sometimes post maintenance notices on their website, but it's not always prominently displayed.

Another option if you're having trouble with the website is to use the automated phone system. It's not as convenient as online filing but it works when the website is down.

•Good backup option to keep in mind. Do you know if there are any fees for filing by phone?

Ava Thompson
•No fees that I'm aware of, it's just more time-consuming than the website.

I tried using Claimyr last month when I was having trouble reaching Washington ESD about my adjudication status. It actually worked really well - I got through to an agent within a few hours instead of trying to call for days.

•That's good to hear from someone who actually used it. How does it work exactly?

Miguel Herrera
•You basically give them your information and they handle the calling and waiting for you. When they get an agent on the line, they conference you in. Pretty straightforward.

Just wanted to mention that if you miss filing your weekly claim, you can still file it late but you'll need to provide a reason. It's better to file late than not at all.

Carmen Sanchez
•Good to know there's still an option if something goes wrong. Hopefully I won't need it but it's reassuring.

•Yes, but don't make it a habit. They're understanding about occasional late filings but not if it happens repeatedly.

The Sunday maintenance window makes sense from a technical standpoint. Most people probably aren't trying to file claims early Sunday morning anyway.

Carmen Sanchez
•True, I was just being paranoid about getting it done early since I'll be traveling. Most people probably file later in the week.

•yeah i usually file on thursdays or fridays myself

One more tip - make sure you're using the correct Washington ESD website URL. There are some scam sites out there that look similar but aren't the real thing.

•Thanks for the warning! I always go through the official Washington state website to be safe.

I think we've covered all the bases here. Sunday after 8 AM should work fine for filing your claim, but you have flexibility to file earlier in the week if that works better for your schedule.

Carmen Sanchez
•Definitely! Thanks everyone for all the helpful information. I feel much more confident about managing my claim filing schedule now.

Just saw this thread and wanted to add that I've found Claimyr really helpful when I need to speak to someone at Washington ESD. The video demo on their site explains it well if anyone wants to check it out.
