What time can you file unemployment online with Washington ESD?
I need to file my weekly unemployment claim but I'm not sure what hours the Washington ESD online system is available. Can you file at any time or are there specific times when the system is down? I work night shifts and it would be easier for me to file claims late at night or early morning if possible.

The Washington ESD online system is available 24/7 for filing weekly claims. You can file anytime except during scheduled maintenance windows which usually happen late Sunday nights.

•That's great to know! So I can file at 2am if I need to without any issues?

Andre Lefebvre
•Yes, exactly. The only time you might have trouble is during those maintenance periods, but they usually post notices about those in advance.

•Perfect, that's exactly when I was hoping to file. Thanks!

Be aware that while you can file anytime, there are deadlines for when your weekly claim needs to be submitted. You have until the end of the week to file for the previous week's benefits. Missing the deadline can cause payment delays.

•Good point. So if I file on Sunday at 6am, that's still within the deadline for the previous week?

•Yes, Sunday morning is perfect timing. You're filing well within the deadline and avoiding any potential system maintenance issues.

I've been trying to reach Washington ESD for weeks about my claim status and can never get through on the phone. The online system doesn't show enough detail about why my claim is pending adjudication. Has anyone found a way to actually talk to someone?

•I had the same problem until I discovered Claimyr. It's a service that helps you get through to Washington ESD agents. You can check it out at claimyr.com - they have a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ showing how it works. It was a lifesaver for me when I needed to resolve my adjudication issue.

•Really? How does that work exactly? I've been calling the main number for hours every day.

•They basically handle the calling and waiting for you. Instead of sitting on hold for hours, they call you back when they get an agent on the line. Much better than the usual frustration of getting disconnected after waiting forever.

just to add - the system sometimes gets slow on monday mornings when everyone files at once. might want to avoid peak times if possible

•That makes sense. I'll stick with my Sunday morning plan then.

One more tip - make sure you're using the secure login portal at secure.esd.wa.gov. Some people accidentally try to file through old links and run into problems.

•Thanks for the reminder! I'll double-check I'm using the right site.

•Yeah I made that mistake once and couldn't figure out why my claim wasn't going through. Always use the official secure site.

Does anyone know if there's a mobile app for filing claims? Would be convenient to file from my phone during breaks at work.

•There's no official Washington ESD mobile app, but the website works fine on mobile browsers. Just make sure you have a stable internet connection when filing.

•Good to know, thanks. I'll just use the mobile browser then.

I always file mine right after midnight on Sunday. Never had any issues and it's done for the week.

•That's even earlier than I was thinking! Good to know the system handles it fine.

Question about filing times - if I file my weekly claim on Saturday night, does that count for the current week or next week? I'm always confused about the timing.

•When you file on Saturday night, you're filing for the week that just ended. The system will show you which week you're filing for, so double-check that it's the right week before submitting.

•Okay that makes sense. I'll pay attention to which week it shows when I log in.

be careful about waiting too long though. i missed the deadline once and had to wait an extra week for payment. not fun when you need the money

•Yikes, that's exactly what I want to avoid. I'll make sure to file early in the week.

The Washington ESD system has been pretty reliable lately. I remember a few years ago there were more outages, but it seems like they've improved the infrastructure.

•Yeah, I remember those days. Much better now. Though I still get nervous filing claims online after all the problems we had during 2020.

•Understandable. Those were rough times for everyone trying to file claims. System seems much more stable now though.

For what it's worth, I've been filing at 3am on Sundays for months now and never had a single problem. Perfect time if you're a night person.

Carmen Ruiz
•That's reassuring! I'm definitely more of a night person so that timing works perfectly for me.

Quick question - do you need to file exactly at the same time each week or can you vary it? Like file Sunday one week and Monday the next?

Andre Lefebvre
•You can vary the timing as long as you file within the allowed window each week. There's no requirement to file at the same time every week.

•Great, that gives me more flexibility with my schedule. Thanks!

I had trouble reaching Washington ESD about my standby claim status last month. Kept getting busy signals and disconnected calls. Finally used one of those callback services and got through in about an hour instead of spending all day calling.

•Which callback service did you use? I'm having the same problem with my regular UI claim.

•I used Claimyr - found them online at claimyr.com. They have a video showing how it works if you want to check it out first. Definitely worth it if you need to actually talk to someone at Washington ESD.

just wanted to confirm - the online filing system shows your claim history too right? not just for filing new claims?

Andre Lefebvre
•Yes, you can view your claim history, payment history, and check the status of current claims all through the online portal.

•Perfect, that's exactly what I needed to know.

One thing I learned - if you're filing close to the deadline and the system seems slow, don't panic and try to file multiple times. I accidentally submitted duplicate claims once and had to call to sort it out.

Carmen Ruiz
•Good tip! I'll be patient if the system is slow instead of hitting submit multiple times.

•Yeah, I made that same mistake. Washington ESD was understanding about it but it was still a hassle to fix.

For anyone still having trouble getting through to Washington ESD by phone, I had success with Claimyr recently. They call you back when they get an agent on the line instead of you waiting on hold forever. Made a huge difference for resolving my adjudication issue.

Jamal Anderson
•How long did it take them to get you connected to an agent?

StardustSeeker
•It was about 45 minutes before they called me back with an agent. Way better than the 3+ hours I was spending on hold before that.

Last bit of advice - always save or screenshot your confirmation page after filing. Helps if there are ever any questions about whether you filed on time.

Carmen Ruiz
•Smart thinking! I'll definitely start doing that.

•Yes, learned this the hard way. Always good to have proof of when you filed.
