Stuck in ESD adjudication for 8 weeks - need proof of job separation help!
I've been caught in ESD adjudication limbo for nearly 8 weeks now and I'm getting desperate. Under the upload forms tab, it's asking for "proof of job separation" but I'm confused about what exactly to submit. I voluntarily left my previous position with a standard two-week notice, but I don't have any documentation of that notice saved. My former employer isn't responding to my requests for documentation either. I've tried reaching out to ESD multiple times by phone and email but can't get through to anyone who can help. This is my first time filing for unemployment, and honestly, I'm completely lost. I saw someone mention online that contacting your state representatives or Congress people might help push things through? Apparently, it worked for them after weeks of delays. Has anyone successfully done this? Or does anyone know what I could use as proof of separation when I left voluntarily? Any advice would be hugely appreciated!

Omg the exact same thing happened to me!! stuck for 6 weeks with that stupid 'proof of job separation' thing. i just uploaded my final paystub and a screenshot of the last text from my manager saying 'sorry to see you go'. no idea if thats right but worth a shot?

For voluntary quits, ESD requires evidence showing you had good cause to leave your job, otherwise you'll likely be disqualified. Do you have any documentation showing WHY you left? Medical notes, evidence of hostile work environment, proof you left for a new job that fell through, etc. The reason matters a lot more than just proving you quit with notice.

•Oh no, I didn't realize the reason would be so important. I left because they reduced my hours dramatically (from 40 to less than 20 per week). I have old schedules in my email showing the reduction. Would that count as good cause?

If your hours were reduced by more than 25%, that actually DOES qualify as good cause to quit in Washington state! Make sure to upload those schedules showing the reduction and write a clear explanation in the comments section when you upload the documents. Also include any communication where you tried to resolve the issue before quitting. Hours reduction is specifically mentioned in ESD guidelines as qualifying for benefits.

CONTACTING YOUR REPS ACTUALLY WORKS!!! I was stuck in adjudication for 10 weeks last year and was about to lose my apartment. Called my state representative's office and had them inquire about my claim. My claim was magically fixed within 72 HOURS after they reached out!!!! They call it a "legislative inquiry" and ESD has a special team that handles those requests. Google "[your county] state representative" and call or email their office.

Hey there, sorry you're dealing with this frustrating situation. Have you tried using Claimyr to get through to an ESD agent? I was stuck in adjudication for weeks and couldn't get through on the phones either. •They don't resolve the issue themselves - they just get you through to an actual ESD agent who can. The agent I spoke with was able to look at my file, tell me exactly what documentation they needed, and she even put notes in my file about our conversation. My claim was approved 4 days later.

adjudication is THE WORST!!! i waited 11 weeks last year and almost lost everything. the system is BROKEN. they make it impossible to get through on purpose i swear. they should be ashamed keeping people waiting for basic needs when we've all paid into the system!!!

I wanted to follow up on the "proof of job separation" specifically. For a voluntary quit with good cause (like your hours reduction), you should submit: 1. Old schedules showing your previous full-time hours 2. New schedules showing the reduction 3. Any communication with management about the change 4. Your notice of resignation (if you have it) 5. Final paystub The key is clearly explaining in the comments that you're submitting proof of a "quit with good cause due to substantial hours reduction." Use those exact words. Also, hours reduction of more than 25% is specifically protected under WAC 192-150-120.

my friend had a claim stuck forever last month and he went to his WorkSource office in person and they helped him figure out what was going on. might be worth trying if the phone calls aren't working??

•This is actually great advice. WorkSource offices can't directly intervene in ESD claims, but they do have direct lines of communication and can sometimes help identify what's causing the hold-up. They can also help with correctly uploading documents through their resource computers.

UPDATE: I want to thank everyone who replied! Based on your advice, I: 1. Uploaded my old and new schedules showing the hours reduction 2. Found and uploaded an email where I questioned the reduction 3. Uploaded my final paystub 4. Contacted my state representative's office (they were super helpful!) 5. Used Claimyr to finally speak with an actual ESD agent The agent confirmed my documents were received and that my claim is being prioritized now. She said the hours reduction definitely qualifies as good cause, especially since I had documentation. The legislative inquiry seems to have helped too. The agent said I should see movement within a week! I'll update again when I hear more, but wanted to thank this community for the guidance when I was feeling completely lost.
