OAH hearing reversed my disqualification but ESD account still shows disqualified - what now?

Seriously stressing out here! Had my OAH hearing yesterday after fighting with ESD since August. Judge just emailed this morning saying my disqualification should be REVERSED and I should get all my benefits paid out (thank goodness because I'm down to my last $200). But when I logged into my ESD account, it STILL shows 'disqualified' status! Does ESD need time to process the judge's decision? Do I need to call them? Send a message through eServices? Anyone been through this before? It's been over 3 months without a penny and I'm about to lose my apartment. How long does it take for ESD to implement what the judge ordered??

Congrats on winning your appeal! There's definitely a lag time between OAH decisions and ESD implementing them. ESD has to receive the judge's decision, review it, and then manually update your claim status. It usually takes 7-10 business days, but sometimes longer if they're backlogged. You don't need to do anything unless it's been more than 2 weeks. The status in your online account is always the last thing to update.

Thank you! That helps my anxiety a bit. I'm just so worried because my landlord has been patient but I'm out of extensions. Do you know if they'll pay the entire amount at once? It's over $6,700 at this point.

3 WEEKS?? Ugh, that's what I was afraid of. Did you have to keep filing weekly claims during that time?

THE SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO MAKE YOU GIVE UP!!! I won my appeal in January and had to call ESD TWELVE TIMES before they actually processed my payment. They kept saying

this is so true!!! they hope people will just give up and go away

I went through this exact situation in October. Here's what you need to do:\n\n1. YES - keep filing your weekly claims even while waiting for the update\n2. Print and save a copy of the judge's decision (you'll need this)\n3. Wait exactly 10 business days from when you received the decision\n4. If not updated by then, call ESD and reference your OAH case number\n\nThey should process the payment within 14 business days of receiving the judge's decision. If your address or direct deposit info has changed since you initially applied, make sure that's updated in your account immediately.\n\nOne important note: you might see partial payments come through before the full amount, depending on how they're processing the weeks. Don't panic if you don't get the entire $6,700 at once.

This is super helpful, thank you! I've been keeping up with my weekly claims just in case. I'll definitely save the judge's decision. So far my direct deposit info is the same. I just hope they process it before the end of the month.

Trying to reach ESD by phone is nearly impossible these days. I was in your exact situation earlier this year and spent 4 days trying to get through on their phone line. I ended up using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an agent - they have this callback system that gets you in the queue without waiting on hold. Their video shows how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3\n\nOnce I got through to an actual person, they were able to escalate my case and get the payment processed within 3 days. Sometimes they just need a nudge to move your case up in their processing queue.

I've never heard of Claimyr before - does it actually work? Those ESD hold times are insane. I spent 3 hours on hold last month and then got disconnected right when someone answered. I'll check out that video, thanks!

congrats on ur win!! just remember that back pay can affect ur taxes next year so put some aside if u can. also some people in my building had issues where esd needed to recalculate each week individually after an appeal win which takes longer. good luck!!

I know this is really stressful but I just went through this too and it all worked out. My appeal was decided on February 10th and the money didn't show up until March 2nd. No explanation for the delay, it just suddenly appeared in my account one morning. Make sure all your contact information is up to date in case they need to reach you for any reason. Sending you good vibes!

Thank you for the support. It's just so frustrating because there's zero transparency in the process! Did you get all your money at once or in chunks?

It came in two payments actually - one big one with most of the weeks, then a second smaller payment two days later with the rest. No explanation for why they split it up.

Quick update on my earlier comment - I just remembered another important point. In your eServices messages, send a message to ESD referencing your OAH decision and case number. Use the category \

Just sent the message through eServices and checked the Decision Status section - nothing there yet but at least I know where to look now. I appreciate all this detailed help!

To answer your question about Claimyr - yes, it worked for me after spending days trying to get through the regular phone line. Not having to sit on hold for hours was worth it. Once I actually talked to someone at ESD, they explained that appeal decisions go to a special processing unit and regular agents can put notes in your file to expedite it if you're facing eviction or other hardships.

That's good to know. I am literally facing eviction, so I need to make sure they understand that. I'll try calling tomorrow and if I can't get through I'll check out that service. I just need this resolved ASAP!

One final tip - if you've been waiting more than 2 weeks and still see no movement, reach out to your state representative's office. They often have direct contacts in the ESD office who can expedite these situations. I've seen cases where a simple inquiry from a legislator's office miraculously fixed problems that had been dragging on for months.

Thank you so much everyone for all the help and advice! I'll give it until next Friday, and if nothing's changed by then I'll try calling, using Claimyr if needed, and reaching out to my state rep if all else fails. I'll update here when something happens in case it helps someone else in the future.
