How long after certifying weekly claim does Washington ESD payment show up?
I just certified my weekly unemployment claim on Sunday night and I'm wondering how long it usually takes for the payment to hit my account? This is my third week claiming and the first two times I think it took different amounts of time. I have direct deposit set up through my SecureAccess Washington account. Does Washington ESD process payments on certain days of the week? My rent is due Thursday so I'm trying to figure out if I need to make other arrangements.

Usually takes 2-3 business days if you certify by Sunday night. Washington ESD processes payments Tuesday through Thursday typically. Since you certified Sunday, you should see it by Wednesday or Thursday at the latest.

•That's a relief, thank you! So if I always certify on Sunday I should be good for Thursday bills.

•Just make sure you don't have any pending issues on your claim that could delay payment

It depends on your bank too. Washington ESD sends the payment but some banks hold it longer than others. Credit unions are usually faster than big banks in my experience.

•I have Chase, do you know if they're usually quick with unemployment deposits?

•Chase is hit or miss, sometimes same day sometimes takes an extra day. I'd plan for Wednesday to be safe.

I've been having trouble even getting through to certify! The Washington ESD website keeps timing out when I try to submit my weekly claim. Has anyone else had this issue?

•Try early morning like 6-7 AM, that's when I have the best luck with the site

•I'll try that tomorrow morning, thanks for the tip!

•You can also try calling if the website won't work, but good luck getting through

Speaking of calling Washington ESD, I found this service called Claimyr that actually got me through to an agent in like 20 minutes. They have a website claimyr.com and there's a demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ that shows how it works. Saved me hours of calling and getting hung up on.

•Is that legit? Sounds too good to be true with how impossible it is to reach Washington ESD

•I was skeptical too but it actually worked. They basically keep calling for you until they get through

•Might try this if I keep having website issues, thanks!

Make sure you're certifying for the right week. I accidentally certified for the wrong week once and it delayed my payment by like 5 days while they sorted it out.

•How do you know which week to certify for? The system just shows me one option

Margot Quinn
•It should show the dates of the week you're certifying for. Just double check those dates match the week you're claiming

ugh the whole system is so slow. I certified last Monday and still nothing. This is ridiculous.

•That's definitely not normal. You should call or check if there's an issue with your claim

•yeah right, calling Washington ESD is basically impossible. I'll just keep waiting I guess

•This is exactly why I used Claimyr - couldn't get through on my own but they got me connected to figure out what was wrong with my claim

Does the payment amount ever change or is it always the same? Mine was $462 the first week but $441 this week and I'm confused.

•Could be taxes being withheld if you elected that option. Check your payment details in your account

•Oh that might be it, I did elect tax withholding. Thanks!

Pro tip: if you certify really early Sunday morning like 12:01 AM, sometimes the payment processes faster. Not sure why but I've noticed this pattern.

•Interesting, I'll try that next week!

•Makes sense, probably less server load at that time

What happens if you miss the Sunday deadline? Can you still certify on Monday?
0 coins
Evelyn Kim
•You can certify late but it might delay your payment. Washington ESD prefers you certify by Sunday night

•Good to know, I'll set a reminder so I don't forget

Been doing this for 6 months now and it's pretty consistent - certify Sunday, get paid Wednesday. Only time it was different was during a holiday week.

•That's reassuring to hear from someone with experience. Thanks!

•Just make sure you're doing your job search activities or they might put a hold on your claim

Sometimes I get the payment Tuesday, sometimes Wednesday. I think it depends on how busy they are that week processing claims.

•Same here, it's usually Tuesday or Wednesday for me

•At least it sounds like it's never later than Wednesday for most people

Make sure your direct deposit info is correct! I had to wait an extra week because my bank account number was wrong by one digit.

•Good point, I should double check that in my profile

•Yeah it's under the payment preferences section if I remember right

If you have any issues with your claim status, definitely try to get ahold of someone at Washington ESD. I used that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier and it was worth it to get answers quickly.

•How much does something like that cost though?

Elijah Jackson
•It was reasonable compared to the stress of not knowing what was going on with my claim. Check their website for details.

The waiting is the worst part. Even when you know it's coming, you still check your bank account like 10 times a day lol

•Haha yes! I've been doing exactly that since Sunday

•We've all been there. Gets easier after a few weeks when you know the pattern

One time my payment was delayed because I had reported some part-time work and it triggered a review. Took an extra week to sort out even though everything was correct.

•That's good to know. Did they notify you about the review or did you just have to figure it out?

•They sent a message in my SecureAccess account but I almost missed it

Just to summarize for the OP - certify by Sunday night, expect payment Tuesday-Wednesday, and make sure all your info is correct. You should be fine!
