From adjudication to payment in 24 hours - Governor's office call worked!

I'm still in shock that my ESD situation got resolved so quickly after weeks of frustration! Just wanted to share my timeline in case it helps others stuck in adjudication hell. Filed for benefits: October 3, 2025 Claim status: "Adjudication in progress" for over 5 weeks Received approval letter: November 10 (saying benefits approved from Sept 29) BUT... all claims still showed $0 and "pending" - no money actually paid After reading advice here, I finally called the governor's office yesterday at 3:15pm. By 4:30pm, I received a message in my ESD inbox saying "Your separation issue is being reviewed by adjudication team." This morning at 6:40am, I checked my account and ALL my pending payments now show as paid! Just checked my KeyBank account and $4,780 was deposited (5 weeks of backpay). Can't believe I wasted 5 weeks trying to get through on the regular ESD line when the governor's office fixed it in less than 24 hours. Don't give up if you're stuck in adjudication!

omg congrats!! im on week 4 of adjudication and getting so desperate. whats the governors office number??? did u have to say anything special when u called??

Thank you! The number is 360-902-4111. I just explained I'd been waiting 5+ weeks in adjudication with no movement despite being approved for benefits. The person was super nice and said they'd send my info to their ESD liaison. Didn't have to say anything fancy, just explained my situation calmly.

This is a great success story, but I want to clarify something important for others reading this: the Governor's Office intervention should be a last resort after you've exhausted other options. Before escalating, make sure you've: 1. Tried submitting messages through your eServices account 2. Called the regular ESD number multiple times 3. Checked if there are any alerts requiring action in your account 4. Uploaded all requested documents ESD adjudication typically takes 3-6 weeks in normal cases. The system prioritizes claims in order received, and when people jump the line via escalation, it can actually slow things down for everyone else. That said, if you're approaching 6+ weeks with no communication, escalation is reasonable.

With all due respect, this is HORRIBLE advice. I waited "patiently" for 7 weeks doing everything "by the book" while my savings disappeared and nearly lost my apartment. Called ESD 47 times (I counted) and either got disconnected or told "just keep waiting." Called governor's office ONE TIME and my issue was fixed in 48 hours. The system is completely broken and people shouldn't suffer because ESD can't get their act together.

If anyone is struggling to get through to ESD on the phone, I'd recommend trying Claimyr (claimyr.com). It's a service that helps you bypass the phone queues and actually reach a live agent. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 showing how it works. I was skeptical, but after being stuck in adjudication for weeks, I tried it and got connected to an ESD agent who actually explained what was happening with my claim. Definitely worth considering if you're in adjudication limbo and need answers.

Does this actually work? I've been trying to get through to ESD for weeks about my adjudication and keep getting the "high call volume" message and disconnected. At this point I'd try anything.

Yes, it worked for me. Instead of calling and hearing "all agents are busy" for the 100th time, I got through to someone who could actually see my claim details. The agent explained exactly which documents were missing and why my claim was stuck. Fixed my issue that same day.

I'm still waiting after 3 weeks in adjudication. Did they tell you what the actual issue was with your claim? I'm worried I did something wrong but I can't get through to anyone to check.

nope! they never said what the problem was. just magically fixed after i called gov office. my theory is they dont have enough staff so claims just sit there until someone complains loud enough lol

For those dealing with adjudication delays, it's important to understand what might be causing it: 1. Employer dispute - Your former employer challenged your eligibility 2. Earnings verification - ESD can't confirm your reported wages 3. Job separation reason - Quit vs. fired can trigger investigation 4. Availability issues - If you indicated limited availability for work 5. Work search requirements - Missing or incomplete job search activities Check your ESD correspondence tab for any notices requesting additional information. Often, adjudication is delayed because they're waiting for documentation they already requested. Also make sure you're completing your weekly claims correctly while waiting - you'll get backpay for all eligible weeks once adjudication is complete.

This is really helpful info! In my case, I think it was #1 - employer dispute. My former employer contested my eligibility claiming I quit voluntarily (I didn't - position was eliminated). After the governor's office call, somehow that got resolved quickly. They never actually told me what the specific holdup was though.

Congradulations on getting your payments! I'm in my 7th week of adjudication and literally about to be evicted. I tried calling the governors office yesterday afternoon but the woman who answered was super rude and said they don't handle ESD issues anymore and hung up on me. Maybe it depends who answers? I'm going to try again tomorrow morning and hope for someone different. This whole system is designed to make people give up i swear.

I'm so sorry you're dealing with that! That's really strange because they were super helpful when I called. Definitely try again and maybe try earlier in the day. When I called, I simply said "I'm calling because I've been stuck in ESD adjudication for over a month despite being approved for benefits, and I'm hoping someone could help point me in the right direction." Very polite and not demanding. The eviction situation sounds urgent - don't forget to also look into emergency rental assistance in your county while you wait for unemployment to come through.

Thanks for sharing your timeline! Quick question - after your payments were approved, how long exactly did it take for the money to appear in your bank account? I'm asking because my adjudication just cleared yesterday (after 6 long weeks), and my ESD account shows payments were sent, but nothing in my bank yet. Getting anxious since I have rent due Monday!

For me it was about 18 hours between status changing to "paid" in the ESD system and the money hitting my bank account. But I've heard it can take 24-48 hours depending on your bank. If ESD shows it as paid, you should be good! The first payment batch can sometimes take a bit longer than subsequent ones.

That's reassuring, thank you! Fingers crossed it arrives tomorrow then. This whole process has been so incredibly stressful.
