ESD website glitch fixed - husband's name auto-filling on MY claim! Need phone claim number ASAP
I'm so relieved! After weeks of frustration with the ESD website, I finally got through to tech support this morning. The issue is fixed! Apparently the system was auto-filling my husband's name on MY unemployment claim, which made no sense since he's never filed for unemployment in his life. The tech guy said it was some weird cross-referencing glitch in their database. Now the waiting game begins for my claim to process. Does anyone know the direct number to file weekly claims over the phone? I don't trust the website after this mess and would rather call it in for the next few weeks until I'm sure everything is working properly. Thanks for any help!

Glad u got it fixed! Had something similar happen where system kept showing my old address from 5 yrs ago. Calling in is smart til they fix all their bugs. The weekly claims phone number is 800-318-6022. Good luck!

•Thank you so much! I'll use this number starting this Sunday. Did you find the phone process took longer than online claims?

The automated claims line is indeed 800-318-6022. You'll need your Social Security number and PIN ready. The phone system walks you through the same questions as the online weekly claim form. Remember that you can only file during your claim week (Sunday-Saturday) and the system is available 24/7. Glad you got the name issue fixed! That's actually a more common technical glitch than people realize. It usually happens when household members share devices or when you've filed joint tax returns that create database linkages.

•THIS!! My wife's maiden name showed up when I filed, and it took THREE CALLS to convince them it wasn't fraud!!! ESD's database is a MESS.

OMG this EXACT thing happened to me back in January! It was my ex-husband's name though (divorced 7 years!) and it completely messed up my claim. Took 6 weeks in adjudication to fix because they thought it was identity theft. I tried calling ESD like 50 times and couldn't get through. Finally I found this service called Claimyr that got me past the busy signals. They have this system that keeps calling ESD for you until they get through, then connects you. Here's their site: claimyr.com - check out their demo video too: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 Totally worth it when you NEED to talk to someone at ESD. Saved me from losing my apartment honestly.

•Yeah it's legit! I was suspicious too at first but it actually works. They don't access your ESD account or anything, they just connect the call. Basically saves you from hitting redial for hours.

I always recommend people use the phone for their first few weekly claims anyway. The phone system has better error checking and will sometimes catch issues before they become problems. That weird name glitch is one of many database problems in the ESD system - it's still running on some really outdated tech from what an ESD agent told me. For phone claims, one tip I learned is to call during off-peak hours - Tuesday-Thursday between 1-3pm tends to be less busy. The weekly claim questions are identical whether you do it online or by phone. Just remember to have your work search activities documented before you call.

•Thank you for the detailed advice! Especially about the off-peak hours, that's really helpful. I was also worried about the work search documentation - do I still need to log those activities online somewhere or can I just keep track privately when filing by phone?

You should still log your work search activities in the ESD system even when filing by phone. The phone system just collects your yes/no answers about whether you completed the required activities, but doesn't record the details. You need those details in the system in case you get selected for a work search review (they randomly audit about 10% of claimants). The work search section of the website is separate from the weekly claims part, so hopefully you won't encounter the same glitch there.

•Not quite accurate. You don't actually HAVE to enter work search activities in the online system. You just need to keep detailed records (employer name, date, contact info, type of contact, position) that you can provide if audited. I've been keeping mine in a simple notebook for 5 months with no issues when I got reviewed.

Update: I called the number today and successfully filed my weekly claim by phone! It took about 10 minutes going through all the questions, and I felt much more confident that everything was processed correctly. The automated system confirmed my claim was received at the end. Such a relief after all the website problems!
