ESD says claim 'Complete' but no payment - what does this status actually mean?
I'm totally confused about my unemployment claim status. It's showing as 'Complete' on my ESD portal but I haven't received any payments or determination letters. Been checking my eServices account daily for two weeks now. Does 'Complete' mean approved? Denied? Still processing? I even tried calling ESD but after waiting for 2+ hours, I got disconnected. Anyone else dealt with this mysterious 'Complete' status and know what it actually means? My bills are stacking up and I really need to know if I should expect payment soon or if I need to appeal something.

'Complete' usually means they've finished processing your claim and made a determination, but it doesn't tell you what that determination is. You should have received a determination letter either in your ESD secure message center or by mail. Check your ESD message inbox carefully - sometimes the determination letters don't trigger email notifications. Also check under the 'Decisions' tab in your eServices account.

•Thanks! I checked both places and don't see anything under Decisions tab or in my message center. Should I be worried? It's been on 'Complete' for 14 days now with no payment.

•That's actually reassuring! Did you get any kind of notification before the money showed up, or did it just appear in your account?

THE SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED TO ME!!! Complete status for almost a month with ZERO communication from ESD!!! I was about to lose my apartment when they FINALLY deposited money. The system is BROKEN and they don't care about people suffering!!! Did you file your weekly claims? You still have to do that even when it says Complete or you won't get paid AT ALL.

•Yes, I've been filing my weekly claims religiously. Good to know it might just be a waiting game. The uncertainty is killing me though!

'Complete' in the ESD system specifically means they've finished processing your initial claim application. It doesn't necessarily mean you've been approved or denied yet. There are a few things to check: 1. Look for a monetary determination letter (shows potential benefit amount) 2. Check for any alerts about identity verification or fact-finding interviews 3. Make sure you're filing weekly claims consistently 4. Look for any disqualification notices If it's been more than 14 days since your claim shows 'Complete' with no payment or determination letters, you should contact ESD directly. Unfortunately, their phone lines are extremely difficult to get through.

•I've done all of those things except successfully contacting ESD. Their phone system is impossible! I've tried calling at different times of day but always end up on hold forever.

When my claim was stuck in limbo last year I used this service called Claimyr that got me through to an ESD agent in about 20 minutes instead of waiting for hours. Totally worth it when you're desperate for answers. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 The website is claimyr.com if you're interested. The agent I spoke with was able to tell me exactly what was happening with my claim and fixed the issue while I was on the phone.

•is that allowed? sounds kinda sketchy to pay to talk to a government agency

•It's not paying to talk to ESD - they just have a system that continuously redials for you and alerts you when you're connected. Much better than wasting your whole day trying to get through. Saved my sanity honestly.

•I might try this if I don't see any movement in the next few days. At this point I'm desperate enough to try anything that might get me actual answers.

I had a similar situation happen back in January. My claim sat at 'Complete' for about 3 weeks before any money showed up. What finally worked was sending a secure message through the eServices portal specifically asking for the status of my claim. Be sure to include your claim ID number and the date it switched to 'Complete' status. I got a response in about 4-5 days explaining that my claim had been approved but was delayed in the payment processing system. The money showed up 2 days after their response. Worth a try if you're not seeing any movement!

my brother had this same problem last month and it turned out he had checked the wrong box on one of his weekly claims (said he wasnt available for work when he meant to say he was). ESD never told him about the mistake, his claim just sat there as Complete with no money. might be worth looking at your weekly claim answers again?

•I don't think that's my issue since I've been super careful with my weekly claims, but I'll double-check everything just to be sure. Thanks for the suggestion!

One more thing to check - log into your eServices account and look at your payment history tab. Sometimes it will show pending payments there even if nothing has been deposited yet. This can give you a heads up that money is in the pipeline. Also, if you set up direct deposit recently, the first payment sometimes comes as a debit card instead. Worth checking if they mailed you a card.

•Just checked the payment history and there's nothing there yet, not even pending payments. I set up direct deposit when I first applied about a month ago. This whole process is so frustrating!

•At this point, I'd definitely try to get through to an actual person at ESD. The secure message suggestion from another commenter is good, but if you need faster answers, you might want to try calling right when they open (usually 8am) for the best chance of getting through.

By the way, did you upload your ID verification documents? Sometimes claims get stuck even when they say Complete because they're still waiting for ID verification. Check if there's any alerts about that on your account!!!

•Yes, I uploaded everything they asked for - driver's license, SSN card, even a utility bill just to be thorough. No alerts showing in my account either. I appreciate everyone's help here - at least I know I'm not alone in this confusion!
