ESD claim showing 'waiting for information on pending issues' - not in adjudication yet?

Has anyone seen this status before? My UI claim is showing 'waiting for information on pending issues' but doesn't mention adjudication anywhere. Been like this for 9 days now. I submitted everything they asked for on my initial application (separation letter, identity docs, work history). My weekly claims all show 'web received - pending' but no payment processing. Is this different from adjudication? Should I be worried? Really need this money for my mortgage payment coming up in two weeks.

Oh no, 3 weeks just to START adjudication?? Do you know if there's anything I can do to speed it up? Did you try calling them?

This status typically means ESD is gathering information from employers or other sources before formally beginning the adjudication process. It's actually a pre-adjudication stage. Here's what you should do: 1. Check your eServices dashboard and alerts section for any questionnaires or fact-finding interviews that might be scheduled 2. Look for any letters in your correspondence tab requesting additional information 3. Make sure your contact information is up to date so they can reach you If there are no action items for you, it likely means they're waiting on employer response. Standard timeframe is 10-14 business days before it moves to actual adjudication.

Thank you for the detailed explanation! I just checked and don't see any questionnaires or requests for information. I guess they must be waiting on my former employer. The anxiety of not knowing what's happening is the worst part.

I'VE BEEN STUCK IN THIS LIMBO FOR 5 WEEKS!!! "Waiting for information" is ESD's way of saying they're doing NOTHING with your claim while they wait for employers who have NO INCENTIVE to respond quickly!!! They give employers like 3 weeks to respond and then another week before they even LOOK at your claim. Meanwhile we're all supposed to just magically pay our bills with NOTHING. The whole system is BROKEN!!

same. its ridiculous how they expect us to survive while they take their sweet time

5 weeks?? That's terrifying. Did you ever get through to anyone at ESD to explain the delay? I've been trying to call but just get the busy signal.

After dealing with ESD for years (unfortunately), I've found that "waiting for information on pending issues" usually means one of these specific things: 1. Your employer hasn't responded to ESD's request for separation details (most common) 2. There's an identity verification issue that hasn't been assigned to an agent yet 3. There's a wage dispute that needs resolution 4. You have multiple employers and they're waiting on responses from all of them The frustrating part is that you won't know which one until they actually start the adjudication. And yes, this pre-adjudication status can last 2-4 weeks before it even moves to actual adjudication.

This is really helpful, thank you. I'm guessing it's probably #1 in my case since I did submit all my identity docs. Is there any way to see if my employer has responded or not? The ESD website doesn't seem to show that information anywhere I can find.

After two days of trying to reach ESD about my claim that was stuck in a similar state, I finally got through using Claimyr (claimyr.com). They held my place in line so I didn't have to keep redialing. Turns out my employer had responded but there was a discrepancy in my employment dates that needed to be resolved. The agent was able to update it while I was on the phone and my claim moved to processing the next day. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3

Yeah, it did for me. Way better than spending hours hitting redial.

When mine was in that status last month, I finally got through to ESD by calling right when they opened at 8am. The agent told me they were waiting for my previous employer to confirm my termination reason. He was able to see that they had sent the request but my employer hadn't responded yet. After I called my old HR department to nudge them, they submitted their response and my claim moved to adjudication the next day. Maybe try calling your former employer's HR department directly?

That's a good idea! I'll reach out to my former employer tomorrow morning. Did your claim get approved quickly after it moved to adjudication?

Mine took another 2 weeks in adjudication, but at least it was moving. Just keep filing your weekly claims on time while you wait.

Yes, I've been doing those religiously and documenting everything! That's one part I definitely understand. Thanks for the reminder though.

I had a similar issue when I got laid off from Boeing in January. Mine was stuck in that status for about 10 days, then suddenly changed to adjudication for another week, then approved. The whole process took about 18 days total. Not great but better than some horror stories I've heard. Just keep checking your eServices account daily for updates or new task requests.

Thanks for sharing your timeline. That gives me some hope. I'm at day 9 now, so maybe it'll start moving soon.

Anyone notice how they expect us to report job searches while in this limbo but they don't have to follow ANY deadlines themselves?? I filed a complaint with my state rep's office when my claim was stuck for 6 weeks. Magically got a call from ESD two days later. FUNNY HOW THAT WORKS. 🙄

This is actually good advice. Contacting your state representative can help escalate stubborn claims, especially if you've exhausted normal channels with no response.

I'm in the exact same boat right now - day 6 of "waiting for information on pending issues" and it's so stressful not knowing what's happening or how long it'll take. Reading everyone's experiences here helps me understand this is unfortunately normal, even though it shouldn't be. I'm definitely going to try calling my former employer's HR department like @Amara suggested to see if I can nudge them to respond faster. Thanks everyone for sharing your timelines and advice - at least now I know what to expect and that I'm not alone in this frustrating process.

I'm going through this exact same thing too - day 12 now and it's beyond stressful. The uncertainty is killing me more than anything. I've been refreshing my eServices account multiple times a day hoping something changes. It's reassuring to know others are dealing with this but also frustrating that this seems to be the norm rather than the exception. I'm also going to try contacting my former employer directly - hadn't thought of that approach. Hang in there, hopefully we'll both see movement soon!

I went through this exact same status last fall and it was nerve-wracking! Mine stayed in "waiting for information on pending issues" for exactly 2 weeks before moving to adjudication. What helped me was creating a daily log of checking my eServices account and documenting any changes (even small ones like new correspondence). Also, don't be afraid to call ESD multiple times - different agents sometimes have different levels of access to information about what's actually causing the delay. In my case, it turned out my employer had submitted their response but there was a system glitch that prevented it from being processed properly. The agent was able to manually push it through once I got the right person on the phone. Keep your chin up Carmen - the waiting is awful but most claims do eventually get resolved!

@Grace That's really helpful to know about the system glitch issue - I hadn't considered that technical problems might be causing delays too. Creating a daily log is a great idea, I'm going to start doing that today. It's reassuring to hear that persistence with calling can actually make a difference. I've been hesitant to call multiple times thinking I'd just be bothering them, but if different agents have different access levels then it makes sense to keep trying. Thanks for the encouragement and practical advice!

I'm dealing with this same frustrating status right now - going on 2 weeks of "waiting for information on pending issues" and it's incredibly stressful not knowing what's happening behind the scenes. What's helped me cope is setting up a simple spreadsheet to track my daily account checks and any small changes I notice. I've also been calling every few days rather than every day, which seems less overwhelming for both me and the phone system. One thing I learned from a friend who works in HR is that some employers have automated systems that flag unemployment requests for manual review, which can add several extra days to their response time. It's not fair to us who need the money, but at least it explains some of the delay. Hang in there Carmen - based on what everyone's sharing here, it sounds like 10-14 days is pretty typical before things start moving.
