ESD adjudication date shows today but pending issue still shows September - what's happening?
I'm going crazy with my unemployment claim stuck in adjudication purgatory! When I check my eServices account, the adjudication date says TODAY, but when I click on the pending issues section, it still shows a date from September (over 2 months ago)! Is this system glitch normal or did something actually update? I managed to reach someone through the governor's office number last week but missed their callback (of course when I'm in the bathroom for 5 minutes...) and haven't been able to get another callback scheduled. I've been waiting on this resolution for my benefits since SEPTEMBER and bills are piling up fast. Has anyone experienced this date discrepancy? Does it mean they're finally looking at my claim today or is the system just taunting me?

This actually happened to me last month - the adjudication date switched to the current date but the pending issue date remained from October. In my case, it meant my claim was FINALLY being reviewed by an adjudicator that day. I received a determination within 48 hours after the date changed. My guess is your claim has been assigned to an adjudicator today, so you might hear something very soon. Keep checking your eServices messages and your email!

•OMG really? That gives me hope! Did you do anything special to get it moved along? I've tried calling the regular number like 50+ times but it's always busy or they hang up on me after waiting.

•11 weeks?! I'm at 9 weeks now and losing my mind. Did they backpay you for all those weeks when they finally approved it?

The date discrepancy is actually normal (though frustrating). The original pending issue date stays as when the issue was first flagged, while the adjudication date updates to when it's assigned to an adjudicator. This is a positive sign that your claim is actively being reviewed today. However, I recommend not waiting passively. If you don't hear anything within 3 business days, you should try to reach an ESD agent. Since the regular phone line is almost impossible to get through, I used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) last month when my claim was stuck. They got me connected to an ESD agent within about 30 minutes when I hadn't been able to get through for weeks. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 Once I spoke with an agent, they were able to expedite my adjudication that had been pending for 7 weeks.

•Is that service legit? I've been trying to reach ESD for THREE MONTHS about an overpayment issue and keep getting disconnected!!! So frustrating!

The ESD system is HORRIBLE with dates and status updates!!!! My claim was stuck for 13 weeks and showed 4 different dates across different sections. When I finally got through to someone they told me to ignore the dates completely because "the system doesn't update correctly" - which is RIDICULOUS for something people depend on for basic survival! The only reliable way to know what's happening is to speak to an actual human at ESD.

•That's so messed up. Why even have an online system if the information isn't accurate? I'm worried they'll deny me after all this waiting because of some technicality.

•Yeah, I emailed the governor's office explaining my hardship and got a call within 3 days. But I literally missed it because I stepped away for 5 min, and now I can't get another callback scheduled. Try emailing them with your claim ID and explain your situation!

To answer your question from earlier - yes, they will backpay you for all eligible weeks once your claim is approved. Make sure you've been filing your weekly claims consistently even while in adjudication. Missing weekly claims can cause significant complications.

•Thank you! Yes, I've been religiously filing every Sunday morning and keeping detailed records of my job search activities. I've applied to 47 jobs since September but still nothing...

I had a similar experience with conflicting dates, but mine ended up being denied after 6 weeks because they claimed I didn't respond to a questionnaire that I never received. Make sure you check your spam folder daily and answer ANY communication from ESD immediately. If you miss their requests for info, they'll deny you even if you're eligible.

•That's terrifying! I check my spam folder obsessively now after missing an important email early on. Did you appeal the denial?

Based on my experience and what I've seen with others, the date update to today is definitely a good sign. An adjudicator has likely picked up your case and is reviewing it right now. The original pending issue date won't change because that's when the issue was first identified. I'd expect some movement within the next few business days. If nothing happens by Friday, then I'd get concerned and try reaching out again.

•Thank you so much for the reassurance! I'll try to be patient until Friday and then panic if nothing changes 😅

That Claimyr service someone mentioned sounds interesting. Has anyone else tried it? I'm desperate to talk to someone about my claim too.

•Yes, it worked well for me and several people I know who were stuck in adjudication. Much faster than trying the regular phone lines. The key is to be prepared with all your claim information when you do get through to an agent.

UPDATE: You guys were right! I just got a determination letter in my eServices inbox! Claim APPROVED and they're releasing all my back payments from September! I'm literally crying right now. Thank you all for the support and advice during this nightmare process!

•That's fantastic news! I'm so glad it worked out for you. Make sure to keep doing your job search activities until you find work, as they do occasionally audit those.
