ESD adjudication date changed backwards - what does this mean for my claim?
I'm totally confused about what's happening with my unemployment claim. I've been watching my claim status like a hawk for weeks. Every single day it showed "adjudication pending 1/11/2025" and that's exactly what it displayed when I checked early this morning. But when I logged in again about an hour ago, suddenly it shows "adjudication pending 1/26/2024" - which is a date from LAST YEAR! Has anyone seen this kind of date change? Does this mean they're actually reviewing my claim now or is this some weird glitch? I'm trying not to get my hopes up but also worried this could be bad news. Should I try calling ESD about this?

This actually happened to me two months ago! The date changed to something from like 6 months earlier and I freaked out thinking they were starting my claim over or something. But it turned out to be a GOOD sign. An agent told me they sometimes update the system with the original date the issue was detected when they're actively working on resolving it. In my case, I got a decision within 4 days after seeing the date change. Fingers crossed for you!

•OMG thank you!!! That gives me some hope. Did you have to call them or did they just process everything automatically after that? I'm so stressed about this whole process.

•Unfortunately, this response is more aligned with my experience as well. The ESD system shows seemingly random dates sometimes. It's incredibly frustrating! My adjudication dates jumped around for almost 7 weeks before anything actually happened with my claim. The Washington ESD system is seriously outdated and barely functional most of the time.

What @profile5 said is partially correct. When an adjudicator picks up your case, sometimes the system will revert to showing the original date the issue was flagged rather than the date it was placed in the adjudication queue. However, this doesn't always mean immediate action is happening. In my experience working with unemployment claims, this typically means your claim has moved to a different status in their internal workflow, but that doesn't guarantee immediate resolution. I would recommend: 1. Continue filing your weekly claims as normal 2. Check your ESD account for any new alerts or message center notifications 3. Be ready to answer your phone for any unknown numbers as adjudicators often call to resolve issues 4. If you don't hear anything within 5-7 business days, then consider trying to contact ESD

•Thank you for the detailed explanation! I'll keep filing my weekly claims and watch for any calls. Do you know if there's any pattern to how they prioritize claims? I've been waiting since early January.

The same exact thing happened with my claim last month!!! At first my adjudication date showed 2/3/2025, then suddenly changed to 11/14/2024. I got SO CONFUSED because like why would they go BACKWARDS? But then literally the next day my claim status changed to paid!! So for me it was definitely a good sign that something was happening. Maybe they assign different dates based on which adjudicator is handling it? The ESD system is super weird sometimes.

If you're concerned and want to speak with an ESD agent directly about this date change, I'd recommend trying Claimyr. I was stuck in adjudication for nearly 8 weeks and couldn't get through on the regular line. Claimyr got me connected to an ESD agent in about 20 minutes instead of spending days trying to get through. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 The agent I spoke with was able to tell me exactly what was happening with my claim and gave me a much more accurate timeline than the online system showed. The website is claimyr.com if you want to check it out.

•I might have to try this if I don't see any progress in the next few days. Has anyone else used this service? Was it worth it?

wait are u sure the original date was 2025 not 2024? cuz if it was showing a future date before that seems more like a glitch

•You're right, I typed it wrong. The original date was 1/11/2024 (this year) and now it shows 1/26/2023 (last year). Sorry for the confusion!

To answer your question about prioritization - ESD generally processes claims in the order received, but certain factors can affect prioritization: 1. Hardship cases (imminent eviction, utilities shutoff) may be expedited if you've submitted a hardship request 2. Simple issues are often resolved faster than complex ones 3. Employer response times can significantly impact resolution speed 4. Certain industries or claim types may be grouped together for efficiency Since you've been waiting since January, I'd actually recommend trying to reach them directly. At this point, a quick call could potentially identify if there's a specific issue holding up your claim that could be easily resolved.

UPDATE: You guys were right! I just checked my account this morning and my status has changed from "Adjudication" to "Paid"!!! All my weeks that were pending are now processing for payment. The date change DID mean something was happening. Thank you all for your help and suggestions. For anyone else stuck in adjudication - hang in there and watch for these system changes, they might be good signs!

•That's awesome news! So happy for you! How long were you in adjudication total before it resolved?

•About 7 weeks total. The last 2 days after the date changed were the most stressful but it all worked out!
