ESD adjudication date changed - Is this a good sign or still waiting?

I've been stuck in adjudication for nearly 6 weeks (ugh) and just noticed the adjudication date on my ESD portal changed from 4/3/2025 to 4/28/2025. Does anyone know if an updated adjudication date is usually a good sign that they're actually reviewing my case? Or does it just mean MORE waiting? My benefits have been on hold this whole time and my savings are basically gone. I'm starting to panic because my landlord is getting impatient even though I explained the situation. Has anyone had their adjudication date change and then actually gotten a resolution quickly after?

In my experience, a changed adjudication date usually means your case has been assigned to a new claims specialist or they've rescheduled your review. It's actually a positive sign that your claim is moving through the system rather than sitting in the general queue. When my date changed last year, I received a determination within 10 days. Make sure you've uploaded all requested documents and completed any questionnaires they might have sent you through your eServices account. Also double-check that you're still filing your weekly claims on time - even while in adjudication.

Really?? That gives me some hope! I have been keeping up with my weekly claims but haven't received any questionnaires that I know of. Where would they show up in eServices? I check the main dashboard but maybe I'm missing something.

My adjudication date changed THREE TIMES and I was stuck for 9 weeks total!!! The system is completely broken and they don't care that people are losing their homes while they take forever to review simple issues. When I finally got through to someone, they said my case was just sitting there waiting for someone to look at it. The date changes mean NOTHING except their internal shuffling.

same here!! mine changed twice and still took 2 months to resolve. complete nightmare

It can go either way honestly. Sometimes an adjudication date change means they're actively working on your claim, sometimes it just means they're pushing things back due to volume. Have you tried calling them directly? I know getting through is basically impossible these days, but persistence helps. I had to call literally 47 times over 3 days before I got a human being who could check on my claim status.

I've tried calling so many times I've lost count. Either get a busy signal or that automated message saying they're experiencing high call volume. I've even tried right when they open at 8am and still nothing. It's beyond frustrating.

I went through this exact situation in February. My adjudication date changed twice, and each time it indicated my claim was being reviewed, but they needed more information. Check your secure message center in eServices (not just the dashboard) - they may have sent you a fact-finding questionnaire that needs to be completed before they can make a determination. Also, be aware that if your issue involves job separation (quit/fired) or availability for work, those typically take longer to process than simpler issues like income verification. The changed date is definitely movement, though not necessarily quick resolution.

Thank you! I'll check the message center right away. My issue is related to my last job closing down unexpectedly - they're verifying my reason for separation. I did upload the letter from my employer explaining the closure, but maybe they need something else from me.

i had my date change and then got paid the next week so fingers crosse for you!! but my sister had hers change and then waited another month so who knows with these people lol

That's the problem - there's ZERO consistency with how ESD handles claims! It's all just random luck if you get a good claims specialist or not. The whole system needs an overhaul.

I was stuck in adjudication hell for almost 8 weeks earlier this year. What finally worked for me was using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to actually get through to an ESD rep by phone. They got me past the endless busy signals, and I was able to speak with someone who explained exactly what was holding up my claim and what I needed to do to resolve it. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 The rep I spoke with was able to expedite my adjudication since I'd been waiting so long, and my benefits started flowing within a week after that call. Definitely worth considering if you're at your wit's end.

I've never heard of this but at this point I'm desperate enough to try anything. Did they explain what was actually happening with your claim? I just need someone to tell me why it's taking so long!

In response to your question about questionnaires - they appear in your secure message center, not on the main dashboard. Click on the envelope icon at the top of your eServices page after logging in. If they've sent you any fact-finding forms, they'll be there with deadlines for completion. Missing these can significantly delay your claim. Also, for a business closure situation, they typically verify with the employer directly. Sometimes the holdup is simply that your former employer hasn't responded to ESD's inquiry yet.

I just checked the message center and there was a questionnaire from 2 weeks ago that I completely missed! It was asking for details about my availability for work and job search activities. I filled it out and submitted it right away. Thank you so much for pointing this out - I had no idea to look there and never received an email notification about it.

The fact that you found a questionnaire you missed is huge! That was very likely what was holding things up. I'd expect movement on your claim within the next week now that you've submitted it. The date change probably happened because someone reviewed your file, noticed the questionnaire wasn't completed, and then reassigned your review date for after they expect to receive your response. If you don't see any updates within 5-7 business days, that's when I'd really try to get someone on the phone. But I bet you'll see movement now.

I really hope you're right! I feel so stupid for missing it but also frustrated that they don't send email notifications for such important communications. I'll update here if/when I get a resolution.

good luck! the waiting is the absolute worst part. keep filing those weekly claims no matter what!

Thanks! Yes, I've been religious about filing every week even though no money is coming in yet. I know if I miss even one week it could mess everything up.

UPDATE: My claim was approved!! Three days after submitting that questionnaire I missed, my status changed from 'adjudication' to 'paid' and I received all my back payments at once. Thank you everyone for the advice - especially about checking the message center. That was the key issue all along.

That's fantastic news! I'm glad it worked out and you got your back payments. This is a good reminder for everyone to check their secure message center regularly during the claims process. ESD really should improve their notification system, but until then, we all need to be vigilant about checking all sections of the portal.

Congratulations Angel! This is such great news and gives hope to everyone else stuck in adjudication. Your story really highlights how important it is to thoroughly check every part of the eServices portal. I'm going to make sure to check my message center weekly from now on. So happy you got your back pay - that must be such a relief after 6 weeks of waiting!

Amazing update Angel! This is exactly why I always tell people to check every nook and cranny of their eServices account. I went through something similar last year and it's incredible how one missed form can hold up everything for weeks. Your story will definitely help other people going through the same nightmare. Enjoy that back pay and congratulations on getting it resolved!

This is such a helpful thread! I'm currently 4 weeks into adjudication myself and had no idea about checking the secure message center separately from the main dashboard. I just logged in and found TWO questionnaires I completely missed from last week - one about work search requirements and another about my separation reason. I'm kicking myself for not knowing about this sooner! Filing them out right now and hopefully this will get things moving. Thank you everyone for sharing your experiences, especially Angel for the update - it gives me hope that there's light at the end of this tunnel.

Oh wow Zainab, you're not alone in missing those questionnaires! It seems like this is a really common issue that ESD should address with better notifications. The fact that you found TWO of them shows how easy it is to miss these critical forms. I'm glad this thread helped you discover them before it was too late. Definitely keep us posted on how things progress once you submit those forms - based on Angel's experience, you might see movement pretty quickly now that you've completed what was holding up your claim. Good luck!

This thread is so valuable for anyone dealing with ESD adjudication issues! I'm bookmarking it because the advice about checking the secure message center is gold. It's honestly shocking that ESD doesn't send email alerts for these critical questionnaires - how many people are stuck in limbo just because they didn't know to check that specific section? Angel's success story after finding that missed questionnaire really shows that sometimes the "mysterious" delays have simple solutions. For anyone else reading this: check your message center weekly, keep filing your weekly claims religiously, and don't give up. The system is frustrating but there IS hope!

Absolutely agree, Chloe! This whole thread should be pinned somewhere for future reference. I'm new to this community but going through the exact same nightmare - been in adjudication for 3 weeks now and had no clue about the message center thing. Just checked mine and thankfully no missed questionnaires yet, but I'll definitely be checking weekly from now on. It's crazy that ESD makes this process so confusing when people are already stressed about their financial situation. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences here - it's giving me a roadmap for what to expect and what to watch out for!

This entire thread is a perfect example of why ESD's communication system is fundamentally broken. It's absolutely unacceptable that critical questionnaires are buried in a separate message center with no email notifications, leaving claimants to stumble around blindly while their benefits remain on hold. Angel, I'm so glad you got your resolution and back pay - what a relief that must be after 6 weeks of stress! But the fact that your delay was caused by a missed questionnaire that you had no idea existed just highlights how many people are probably suffering through extended adjudications for the same reason. ESD needs to overhaul their notification system immediately. Until then, everyone should be checking that message center religiously. Thank you all for sharing your experiences - this thread is going to help so many people avoid the same pitfalls!

You're absolutely right, Darren. This whole situation really exposes how poorly designed ESD's communication system is. I'm new here but have been lurking and reading posts for weeks trying to understand what I might be facing when I file my own claim soon. This thread has been incredibly eye-opening - the fact that so many people are missing critical questionnaires because they're hidden away without proper notifications is just mind-blowing. It makes me wonder how many thousands of people are stuck in unnecessary adjudication delays right now simply because they don't know about that message center. Angel's story gives me hope but also makes me angry that the system is set up to fail people when they're already in vulnerable situations. Thank you everyone for being so transparent about your experiences - this community support is clearly filling a gap that ESD should be addressing themselves!

I'm going through adjudication right now (week 5) and this thread has been incredibly helpful! I had no idea about the secure message center being separate from the main dashboard. Just logged in and found a questionnaire from 10 days ago about my work search activities that I completely missed. I'm filling it out now and really hoping this gets things moving like it did for Angel. It's so frustrating that ESD doesn't send email notifications for these critical forms - how are we supposed to know to check a separate section that's not obvious? Thank you everyone for sharing your experiences, especially the success stories. This gives me hope that there might be light at the end of this very long tunnel. Will definitely update here once I hear back!

Emily, you're definitely not alone in missing that questionnaire! It seems like this is happening to so many people based on all the stories in this thread. The fact that you found it within 10 days is actually pretty good timing compared to some others here. I'm crossing my fingers that you'll see the same quick resolution that Angel did once you submit that form. Keep us posted on how it goes - these success stories really help keep everyone's spirits up during what is honestly one of the most stressful experiences you can go through. And definitely keep checking that message center weekly from now on, just in case they send any follow-up questions!

This thread has been incredibly helpful for me as someone currently going through this nightmare! I'm in week 3 of adjudication and honestly had no clue about checking the secure message center separately from the main dashboard. Just logged in after reading all these comments and thankfully didn't find any missed questionnaires, but I'm definitely going to be checking weekly from now on. Angel, your success story gives me so much hope - congratulations on getting your back pay! It's absolutely ridiculous that ESD buries these critical forms without proper email notifications. How many people are stuck in endless delays just because they don't know about this hidden section? Thank you everyone for sharing your experiences and creating this invaluable resource for those of us struggling through the system. I'll make sure to update if my situation changes!

I'm so glad this thread found you before you missed anything critical, Elijah! Week 3 is still early compared to some of the horror stories here, so hopefully you'll see movement soon. The fact that you're now aware of the message center issue puts you ahead of where most of us were at that point. I'm also going through this process (week 4 now) and this community has been a lifesaver for navigating ESD's confusing system. Definitely keep checking that message center weekly and stay on top of your weekly claims. Fingers crossed we both see positive updates soon! This thread really shows how much we all need to support each other through this broken system.
