EDD wrongly disqualified my UI claim due to work authorization error - How to fix and get backpay?
I filed a new unemployment claim and it got approved, but all my weekly claims are disqualified without any reasons given. I checked an old expired claim from last year and saw it was disqualified because it said I wasn't authorized to work, which is totally wrong. I've been a legal permanent resident for over 15 years! Anyone else deal with this? Will they backpay me for the weeks I should've gotten? I know the first week is a waiting period, and I got severance for the second week, but the third week I didn't get any income at all.

Ugh, the unemployment system is such a mess! I had a similar issue where they flagged my account for no reason. It took me weeks to get it sorted out. Have you tried calling them? Be prepared to wait on hold for hours tho 🙄

•I've been trying to call for days but can never get through. It's so frustrating! How did you finally get it resolved?

•I literally had to call over 100 times before I got through. It was a nightmare. Once I finally talked to someone, they fixed it pretty quick. Keep trying!

•Pro tip: call right when they open. That's how I got through after weeks of trying!

This happened to me too! Turns out there was a glitch in their system that was incorrectly flagging some accounts. You need to talk to a rep to get it fixed. They should backpay you for any weeks you were eligible. Good luck!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ

•Sounds sketchy. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

•Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

•I've used it twice now. It's a lifesaver when you're desperate to talk to someone!

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Write down dates, times, and details of all your attempts to contact them. 2. Keep filing your weekly claims even if they're getting denied. This will make backpay easier if/when it's resolved. 3. Contact your local state representative or senator. They often have staff dedicated to helping with unemployment issues. 4. If you can't get through on the phone, try emailing or using their online portal if available. 5. Be persistent but polite. The people you eventually talk to didn't cause this problem. 6. If all else fails, consider filing an appeal. This can sometimes get your case in front of someone who can actually help. Remember, they WILL backpay you for eligible weeks once it's sorted out. Hang in there!

have you tried faxing them? I know it sounds old school but I got a response within 2 days when I faxed my documents
