Approved for ESD benefits but payment still says 'disqualified' after 10 weeks of adjudication - how much longer?

Finally got my approval letter from ESD after being stuck in adjudication for over 10 weeks! I was so relieved until I logged into my eServices account and saw my benefit status still shows as 'disqualified'. Has anyone experienced this disconnect between getting an approval letter but the system still showing 'disqualified'? I'm literally at my wits end trying to provide for my 3 kids with zero income coming in. How long did it take for your benefits to actually hit your account after receiving the approval letter? I'm terrified this means weeks more of waiting and we just can't hold out much longer. The rent is already late and I'm worried about getting evicted next.

This is actually pretty common! The system takes about 2-3 business days to update after the approval letter goes out. If your claim was in adjudication for 10 weeks, that's a long time, but once it's approved and the system updates, they'll release all your back pay at once. If it still shows disqualified by the end of this week, then I'd definitely call them to check on it. Make sure you've been filing your weekly claims this whole time - if you missed any weeks, you'll have to request back-filing for those weeks separately.

Thank you so much for responding! I have been filing every single week without fail, so at least I've got that part covered. It's been 4 business days since I got the letter though... is that too long? Should I be panicking yet?

i had the EXACT same problem last month!! my letter said approved but online said disqualified for like 5 more days. i was freaking out to. then suddenly one morning i checked and BOOM! $7,800 in my account for all the back weeks!!! it was like magic lol. but i know the waiting is TORTURE especially with kids. hang in there mama!!

OMG that gives me so much hope!! 5 days isn't too bad. Did you do anything to make it change or it just updated on its own?

The approval letter and the system status often don't sync immediately. Here's what's happening: the adjudicator manually issues the approval, then the letter goes out, but the payment system runs on a different batch schedule. Typically payments are processed on Tuesday nights, so if your approval happened after last Tuesday's batch, you'll likely see payment this coming Wednesday. \n\nIf it's been more than a week since your approval letter, I recommend calling the claims center directly. You can also check your Notices tab in eServices - look for a notice called

This is incredibly helpful information! There is a Statement of Benefits in my Notices tab from yesterday, so that's a good sign based on what you're saying. It shows all the weeks and amounts. Tuesday batch processing explains why nothing's happened yet. I'll give it until Thursday before I panic!

The ESD system is so broken its not even funny. I got approved and then had to wait ANOTHER 3 WEEKS before seeing a penny!!! And every time I called they just said \

same happened to my brother but he only waited 3 days for money after approval. guess it depends on how busy they are. but the good news is u WILL get backpay for all those weeks so when it hits it should be a big chunk at least

Thanks for the reassurance! It's hard not to check my bank account literally every hour lol. The back pay will definitely help dig us out of the hole we're in right now.

If you need to contact ESD directly, I highly recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com). I was in a similar situation last month - approved but no payment for over a week. I spent days trying to call ESD but couldn't get through. Then I tried Claimyr and got connected to an ESD agent in about 20 minutes who fixed my payment issue on the spot. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 that shows how it works. Literally saved me weeks of stress and waiting.

is that service legit?? seems weird to pay someone else just to talk to ESD? no offense just wondering

Totally get the skepticism! I felt the same way at first. But after trying to call ESD myself for 3 days straight with no luck, I was desperate. It actually works - they use some kind of system that navigates the phone tree and holds your place in line. When they get through, they call you and connect you directly to the ESD agent. Worth every penny in my situation.

UPDATE: Payment hit my account this morning!!! All the back pay came at once just like you all said. Almost $9,400! I'm literally crying with relief right now. Thank you to everyone who helped keep me sane during this wait. For anyone else stuck in this situation - hang in there, it does eventually get resolved!

That's awesome news! So happy for you and your kids. This is why I always tell people to keep filing those weekly claims even when it feels hopeless during adjudication. Enjoy that well-deserved relief!
