Just wanted to add that if you do end up needing to talk to Washington ESD about your claim, that Claimyr thing people mentioned really does work. Saved me a ton of time when I was dealing with my adjudication.
Just wanted to add that the waiting period can vary a lot depending on your specific situation. If you were laid off vs fired vs quit, if your employer contests the claim, if you need identity verification, etc. All of these factors can add time to the process.
My advice is to be patient but proactive. File your weekly claims religiously, do your job searches, and keep an eye on your account for any updates or requests for information. If you don't see movement after 3 weeks, that's probably when you want to try to contact them directly.
One more thing - if you get approved for partial benefits, make sure you understand how the earnings offset works. You can earn up to a certain amount each week before it starts reducing your benefit payment. Washington ESD has a calculator on their website that shows how it works.
Hope everything works out for you OP! The system seems complicated but once you get through the initial application it's pretty straightforward. Just stay on top of your weekly claims and job search activities.
Watch out for scams too. There are fake unemployment websites that look official but are trying to steal your information. Always make sure you're on the real Washington ESD website (esd.wa.gov) and never give your login information to anyone claiming to help you with your claim.
This thread is super helpful! I'm bookmarking it in case I ever need to file for unemployment. Hopefully I won't but it's good to know what to expect just in case.

honestly just file as soon as possible and see what you get. you can always appeal the benefit amount if you think it's calculated wrong. i waited too long trying to figure everything out and lost 3 weeks of benefits

•That's probably good advice. Better to get the process started and fix issues later than miss out on benefits entirely.

•exactly! and if you do need to appeal or have questions, at least you'll have a claim number to reference when you call

One last thing - keep really good records of everything. Save all your determination letters, write down confirmation numbers when you file weekly claims, screenshot everything. If there are any issues down the line, you'll need that documentation.
