This thread has been super helpful! I didn't know research could count toward job search requirements. Going to start incorporating that into my weekly activities.
Hope your claim gets approved soon OP. 6 weeks is way too long but at least you're handling the job search requirements properly while you wait.
Thanks everyone! This community has been amazing. Really appreciate all the help with both the unemployment data and the Washington ESD advice.
That's what we're here for. Don't forget about Claimyr if you need to actually reach someone at Washington ESD about your pending claim.
If you're not sure about something, it's better to ask than guess wrong. The penalties for making mistakes can be serious, especially if they think you did it on purpose.
That's where services like Claimyr come in handy. Sometimes you really do need to talk to a person to get things sorted out properly.
One last thing - keep checking your account regularly for any messages or requests for information. If Washington ESD asks for something, respond quickly or your benefits could be delayed or stopped.
thanks for this thread everyone. hitting the 26 week wall is scary but at least now i have some ideas of where to look for help
Update: I ended up trying Claimyr after reading about it here and was able to speak with a Washington ESD representative within 24 hours. They explained my options and helped me understand what programs I might qualify for after my benefits end. Definitely worth it for the peace of mind and actual information instead of just guessing what might be available.
Final thought - once you file, you'll get a monetary determination letter showing your weekly benefit amount and total benefits available. Keep that somewhere safe.

Been through this process twice now. The wage requirements aren't too bad if you've been working consistently, even part-time. The trickier part is usually the job separation reason - make sure you have a qualifying reason for leaving or being let go.

•What counts as a qualifying reason? I quit my last job because of scheduling conflicts.

•That might be tricky. Generally you need to be laid off, fired for non-misconduct reasons, or quit for good cause. Scheduling conflicts could qualify if they were unreasonable, but you'd need to document it well.

The Washington ESD website has a tool that can help you estimate if you qualify based on your work history. I used it before filing and it was pretty accurate compared to my actual determination.

•Good luck with your claim! The process can be confusing but once you understand the basics it's not too bad.
