One last thing to add - even without the waiting week, make sure you're meeting all the other requirements like job search activities. That's where people sometimes run into issues.
This has been really informative. I wish Washington ESD made this clearer on their website. Took me forever to find definitive information about the waiting week elimination.
Yeah their website could definitely be more user-friendly. Half the time I can't find what I'm looking for.
That's another reason I ended up using Claimyr - sometimes it's just easier to talk to an actual person at Washington ESD to get clear answers instead of trying to navigate their website.
One last thing - keep all your paperwork organized! Tax forms, pay stubs, anything related to your employment. You might need to provide documentation during the claims process.
The bottom line is 26 weeks maximum for regular unemployment in Washington, period. Don't count on extensions unless there's another major economic crisis. Use the time wisely and hopefully you'll find something before the benefits run out.
Remember that your benefit amount can change if you work part-time while collecting. They reduce your weekly payment dollar-for-dollar after you earn more than your weekly benefit amount minus $5. So if you're getting $394, you can earn up to $389 without any reduction.
Thanks everyone for all the helpful explanations! This makes way more sense now. I was worried they made a mistake but it sounds like $394 is correct based on my work history. I'll keep filing my weekly claims and focus on my job search.
The WorkSource connection is something to be aware of too. Washington ESD partners with WorkSource offices throughout the state to provide job search assistance. You might be required to register with WorkSource as part of your job search requirements.
If you're still confused about any of this stuff after you apply, don't hesitate to reach out for help. I spent weeks trying to figure things out on my own before I found Claimyr and was able to actually talk to someone at Washington ESD who could answer my specific questions. Sometimes you just need to talk to a real person to make sense of it all.

One more thing - if you qualify for unemployment, you might also be eligible for other assistance programs. Worth looking into if money is tight while job hunting.

•Food assistance and healthcare subsidies are the main ones to check out. Every bit helps when you're between jobs.

Hope this thread helped answer your question! The Washington ESD benefit calculator should give you a pretty accurate estimate once you know your base period earnings. Good luck with your claim if you end up filing.
