honestly the 26 week thing stressed me out so much but then i found a job in week 24 so it worked out. dont give up hope, sometimes things come together at the last minute
For anyone getting close to their limit - make sure you understand the difference between benefit year ending and exhausting benefits. They're two different things that can happen at different times.
The waiting game is brutal but hang in there. Most people who file straightforward claims without complications see their first payment within 2-3 weeks. If you hit the 4 week mark with no communication, that's when you should start being more proactive about calling.
One last thing - make sure you're checking your online account regularly for any messages or required actions. Sometimes they need additional information and if you miss those requests it can delay everything even more.
One last thing - if you get any kind of separation pay, vacation payout, or severance from your employer, make sure to report it accurately when you file. That stuff can affect your benefit timing but won't necessarily disqualify you completely.
This thread has been super helpful! I'm in a similar situation and was completely lost. Going to file my claim today after reading through all this advice.
Drug testing can also be an issue in some cases. If you're fired for failing a drug test, that's usually considered misconduct. And if you're required to participate in drug testing as part of your job search and refuse, that could disqualify you too.
This is all so overwhelming! I wish Washington ESD was clearer about all these rules upfront instead of people finding out after they get disqualified.
Definitely appeal if you think it's wrong. I got my disqualification overturned after providing more documentation. The appeal process exists for a reason.

The monetary determination should come pretty quickly. I filed on a Tuesday and got mine the following Monday in the mail. It shows everything - your base period wages, weekly benefit amount, and maximum benefit amount for the year.

•That's faster than some people are saying. Maybe it depends on when you file?

•Could be. I filed right at the beginning of the month so maybe that helped.

Based on your $18,500 highest quarter, you're looking at around $711 per week before taxes. That's assuming Washington still uses the simple highest quarter divided by 26 formula. Should be a decent amount to help with expenses while you're job searching.
