Just remember that even if you qualify for the maximum weekly amount, you still need to meet all the eligibility requirements each week - available for work, actively seeking work, and able to work. High benefits don't exempt you from any requirements.
The monetary determination letter you receive will also show your base period wages quarter by quarter, so you can verify they have the right information. If anything looks wrong, contact them immediately to get it corrected.
At this point I'm just grateful Washington ESD exists at all. Could be worse - could be living in a state with no unemployment benefits.
Thanks for all the info everyone. At least now I know I'm not the only one dealing with long wait times. Guess I'll just have to be patient and keep checking my account.
The online system for filing weekly claims is actually pretty user-friendly once you get the hang of it. Just make sure you file during your assigned day and time window, or you might have to wait until the next week.
Bottom line - with your income level you'll probably qualify for a decent weekly amount, but be prepared for potential delays and bureaucracy. The money is there if you're eligible, but getting through the process can be frustrating.
Thanks everyone for all the helpful info. Sounds like I should definitely apply if I need to, but plan for some headaches along the way.
Exactly. And if you run into phone issues trying to reach Washington ESD, remember that Claimyr service can save you a lot of time and frustration. Sometimes talking to an actual person makes all the difference.
Bottom line: file when you're eligible, don't file when you're not. Washington ESD doesn't care how many legitimate claims you've had in the past.
For what it's worth, I used Claimyr when I needed to check on my eligibility for a second claim last year. The agent I spoke with confirmed everything people are saying here - no limits on legitimate claims as long as you meet the requirements each time.

Bottom line - treat unemployment like regular income because that's what it is for tax purposes. Have taxes withheld if you want to keep it simple, or set aside money yourself if you prefer more control. Just don't ignore it and hope it goes away.

•Thanks everyone for all the advice. I'm definitely going to set up the 10% withholding tonight. Better safe than sorry!

One more plug for Claimyr if anyone else needs to reach Washington ESD quickly - I've used them twice now and both times got through in under 10 minutes instead of hours of busy signals. Check out their demo video if you're curious how it works.

•I might have to try this. I've been trying to reach ESD for two weeks about an adjudication issue and keep getting disconnected.
