The job search requirements are important too. You need to make at least 3 job search contacts per week and keep a log. This doesn't affect your benefit amount but you need to meet the requirements to keep getting benefits.
One thing that helped me was setting up direct deposit for my unemployment benefits. Payments come faster than waiting for a debit card or check in the mail.
The biggest improvement is probably the real-time updates. In the old system, you'd submit paperwork and have no idea what was happening until you got a letter weeks later. Now you can log into SAW and see exactly where your claim stands.
Overall I think we're much better off now despite the problems. The old system was slow, inconvenient, and you had no visibility into what was happening with your claim. At least now we have options like online filing, real-time status updates, and services like Claimyr to help when you need to reach an agent.
Thanks everyone for the perspective! Makes me feel better about dealing with my current adjudication issue knowing how much worse it used to be.
Same here. I'm definitely going to try Claimyr to get through to someone about my claim status.
Quick tip - if you run into any issues with your claim or need to talk to someone, I had good luck with a service called Claimyr that helps you get through to Washington ESD agents. Saved me a lot of frustration when my claim had some complications.
Apply now and don't second-guess yourself. I've helped several friends through this process and the ones who filed immediately always had smoother experiences than those who waited for various reasons.
The unpredictability is the worst part. I wish Washington ESD would just give us a definitive answer on timing instead of making us guess.
Tuesday morning deposits are standard but I've had mine come as late as Thursday when there were technical issues on Washington ESD's end. Always have a backup plan!

Don't give up hope. The job market is tough but things can change quickly. Make sure you're using all the resources available - career counseling, job fairs, networking events through WorkSource.

•Hang in there. I was unemployed for 8 months but finally found something. It's not my dream job but it pays the bills.

Keep detailed records of all your job search activities. If you do qualify for a new claim, having good documentation will help if there are any questions about your eligibility or job search efforts.

•Good point. I've been tracking everything in WorkSourceWA but should probably keep my own backup records too.

•Definitely. Screenshots, copies of applications, anything that shows you're actively looking for work.
