The most important thing is to show up for your hearing! I know someone who missed theirs because they forgot and had to start the whole appeal process over again.
Keep all your documentation organized and ready. During the hearing you'll need to reference specific dates, emails, and conversations quickly. Being prepared makes a huge difference.
One more thing to keep in mind - holidays and Washington ESD processing delays don't extend your 26-week benefit period. Those weeks count toward your total even if there are delays in processing your weekly claims.
Thanks everyone for all the helpful info! I feel much better understanding that I have 26 weeks to work with. Time to get serious about my job search and make the most of these benefits.
Filed mine on a Friday afternoon and had no issues. The system worked fine and I got my determination letter within a week. Don't stress too much about the timing of when during the day you file.
Thanks everyone for all the advice. This has been super helpful and way more informative than the Washington ESD website FAQs.
PSA: Start looking for work immediately, don't wait! Even if you think you have 26 weeks, job searching takes time and the labor market is competitive. Plus you never know if there will be issues with your claim that could delay payments.
One more thing to keep in mind - if you have any issues with your claim (like adjudication holds or missing documents), that can eat into your 26-week clock even if you're not receiving payments. The weeks keep counting whether you're getting paid or not.
Exactly. That's why it's so important to respond quickly to any requests from Washington ESD and provide all required documentation ASAP. Every week of delay costs you.
This is another reason why getting through to Washington ESD agents is so important when you have issues. Services like Claimyr can help you actually talk to someone instead of waiting weeks for a response to online messages.

To summarize for the OP: 2-3 weeks is typical for straightforward layoff cases. Keep filing weekly claims. If you hit 3-4 weeks with no word, try to contact Washington ESD. Document everything. The waiting is stressful but normal. Once approved, payments are consistent.

just remember that when you do get approved, you'll get back pay for all the weeks you were waiting (assuming you kept filing). so the wait sucks but you won't lose money

•That's reassuring to know about the back pay. Makes the waiting a bit more bearable.
