If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

Whatever you decide to do, document everything! Keep copies of all medical records, doctor's notes, and any communication with Washington ESD. If you end up needing to appeal or apply for other benefits later, having good documentation will help your case.

Good reminder, I'll make sure to keep everything organized. This whole process is overwhelming.

If you do need to contact Washington ESD about your case, seriously consider using Claimyr. The regular phone lines are brutal and you'll probably need to explain your medical situation in detail to get a proper determination.

Update us on what happens! I'm in a similar boat with a potential medical leave coming up and this info is really helpful.

Will do! I have a doctor's appointment next week to discuss my restrictions and then I'll probably try to call Washington ESD to get a definitive answer.

Thanks, and good luck with everything!

For anyone still confused about this - YES you have to report unemployment benefits on your taxes. It's federal taxable income just like wages. Don't skip reporting it or you'll get in trouble with the IRS later.

This is important advice. The IRS gets copies of all 1099-G forms so they know exactly how much unemployment you received.

Thanks everyone for all the helpful information. I feel much more confident about filing my taxes now.

One more tip - if you end up owing taxes on your unemployment benefits and can't pay the full amount, the IRS has payment plan options. Don't just ignore it if you owe money.

Good point. It's better to file your return and set up a payment plan than to not file at all.

0 coins

You can set up payment plans online through the IRS website too. Pretty convenient.

Start your application as soon as possible! Benefits are only paid from the date you apply, not from when you lost your job. Every day you wait is money you can't get back.

I'm going to do it today! Thanks everyone for all the helpful advice.

Good luck with your claim! The process seems overwhelming at first but once you get into the routine of filing weekly claims it becomes pretty straightforward. Just stay on top of the job search requirements and keep good records.

Thank you so much! This thread has been incredibly helpful. I feel much more confident about applying now.

We've all been there. The unemployment system can be confusing but you'll figure it out. Don't hesitate to ask questions if you run into issues.

I've been through this whole process twice now and the key is just to stay persistent. Even if your initial claim gets denied, don't give up. The appeals process exists for a reason.

0 coins

Did you win your appeals both times?

0 coins

Won one, lost one. The one I lost was because I actually did violate a clear company policy, so that was fair. The other was just a personality conflict with my manager.

For what it's worth, most employers don't bother contesting unemployment claims unless it was a really egregious firing. It's too much hassle for them and costs money in legal fees.

0 coins

That's reassuring. Hopefully if it comes to that, my company won't fight it.

0 coins

Yeah, unless you stole something or did something really bad, most companies just let it go. They've got bigger things to worry about.

Does anyone know if seasonal work counts the same as regular work for the earnings requirements? I did some seasonal retail work last winter before my current job.

0 coins

Yes, seasonal work counts as long as the employer paid into the unemployment insurance system. Most legitimate employers do, but some very small or cash-based operations might not.

0 coins

Good to know, thanks! That seasonal work might help me meet the two-quarter requirement.

The whole thing about base periods and quarters is confusing but basically if you've been working regularly for more than 6 months you're probably good. The real challenge comes when you actually need to file and deal with Washington ESD's systems and phone lines.

0 coins

Yeah it sounds like actually getting through to them is the bigger problem than qualifying. Hopefully I won't need to find out anytime soon!

I used Claimyr when I had issues with my claim last year and it was a lifesaver. Worth checking out if you ever need to actually talk to someone at Washington ESD without spending hours on hold.
