Pro tip: set up direct deposit if you haven't already. The debit card option can have delays sometimes and you want that back pay as fast as possible.
The whole adjudication process needs to be reformed. Six weeks is way too long to make people wait for benefits they've earned. Glad yours is finally resolved though.
Hope this all works out for you OP. The unemployment system can be frustrating but once you get the hang of it the payments are pretty reliable. Just stay on top of your weekly claims and job search requirements.
One thing I wish someone had told me - if you move to a different state while collecting Washington unemployment, you need to notify them. The rules can get complicated with interstate claims.
File online, be honest about everything, and don't stress too much. The majority of people who apply get approved, even those who were terminated.
This thread has been super helpful. I'm in a similar situation and was worried I'd have to choose between social security and unemployment. Good to know I can get both even if the UI amount is reduced.
Glad it helped! The most important thing is accurate reporting. Washington ESD will eventually catch any discrepancies, and it's much easier to get it right from the start than to fix overpayment issues later.
Quick update - I used that Claimyr service mentioned earlier and finally got to talk to someone at Washington ESD about my specific situation. The agent confirmed everything discussed here and helped me understand exactly how my benefits would be calculated. Worth it for the peace of mind!

Just remember that even after you start receiving benefits, you need to keep filing weekly and meeting all the requirements. It's not set-it-and-forget-it. You have to stay actively engaged with the process the entire time you're collecting.

•Good point. I definitely don't want to mess anything up once I start getting payments.

•Also be prepared for the possibility of audits or reviews even after you're established. They can always ask for documentation of your job search activities.

My experience was 3 weeks exactly from filing to first payment. Week 1 waiting period, Week 2 first weekly claim filed, Week 3 got paid. But I know people who waited much longer due to various issues. Just stay patient and persistent.

•That matches what others have said. I'm hoping for a similar timeline. Thanks everyone for all the helpful info!

•You're welcome! The waiting is stressful but most people do get through the process eventually. Hang in there.
