I got fired for 'attendance issues' when I was actually dealing with a family emergency. Got my benefits after explaining the situation. Be prepared to tell your whole story if they ask.
Bottom line - getting fired doesn't automatically disqualify you from unemployment benefits in Washington. File your claim, be honest about what happened, and let Washington ESD make the determination. Don't talk yourself out of benefits you might be entitled to.
One last thing - keep copies of everything! Your initial application, confirmation numbers, any correspondence from Washington ESD. If there are ever any issues you'll need that paper trail to sort things out.
If you run into problems or your claim gets stuck in adjudication, that Claimyr service mentioned earlier is really helpful. I used it twice when I couldn't get through to resolve issues with my weekly claims. Much easier than spending all day trying to call Washington ESD directly.
Just to summarize for anyone else reading this later - Washington ESD processes unemployment payments Tuesday nights, deposits typically show up Wednesday morning. If you don't see your payment by Thursday, that's when you should start investigating. Most banks are consistent with this timing.
just make sure she applies asap if she's going to do it. there's usually a waiting period before benefits start and every week counts when you're unemployed

My advice: file today, be honest, keep records of everything, and don't panic if it goes to adjudication. Most people who get fired for performance reasons end up getting approved. Just might take a few weeks to sort out.

•Thanks everyone for all the advice! I'm going to file my claim this afternoon. Feeling much more confident now.

One more thing - if your employer contests your claim and it gets denied initially, don't give up! The appeal process often works in favor of the claimant, especially if the employer can't provide solid evidence of misconduct. I've used Claimyr to get through to ESD agents during my appeal process and it really helped speed things up.

•Good to know about appeals. Hopefully I won't need to go that route but at least I know it's an option.
