If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

Don't stress too much about the wording. As long as you're truthful, Washington ESD will figure it out. They deal with thousands of layoffs every month - yours isn't unique or complicated.

Thanks, that's reassuring. I think I was making it more complicated than it needs to be.

0 coins

Yeah most of us overthink these forms. Just answer honestly and you'll be fine.

Update us when you hear back! I'm curious how long it takes them to process claims right now. Mine took forever last year but I heard they're faster now.

0 coins

Will do! I'm hoping to submit it today now that I know what to write.

0 coins

Good luck! Hope it goes smoothly for you.

One more thing - when you file, Washington ESD might put your claim in adjudication if there are any questions about your separation. Don't panic if that happens, it just means they need to verify some details with your employer.

0 coins

It's just a review process to make sure you qualify for benefits. Takes a few weeks usually but you'll get paid retroactively if approved.

0 coins

If your claim goes into adjudication and you need to talk to someone about it, that's another situation where Claimyr can help you reach an agent to check on status.

0 coins

Bottom line: file now, don't wait another day. The process isn't that complicated once you start, and you'll kick yourself if you wait longer and lose even more weeks of benefits.

0 coins

You're absolutely right. I'm going to file tonight. Thanks everyone for all the helpful advice!

Good luck! Feel free to come back here if you run into any issues with the process.

One last tip - keep detailed records of all your unemployment tax payments. Both federal and state. You'll need them for audits and year-end reporting.

0 coins

How long should I keep these records?

0 coins

IRS recommends keeping employment tax records for at least 4 years after the tax becomes due or is paid, whichever is later.

0 coins

Just to summarize for the OP - you'll pay FUTA (federal) directly to IRS and state unemployment tax to Washington ESD. Both are calculated on wages but have different rates and wage bases. Stay current on both to avoid penalties and maintain the FUTA credit.

Thanks everyone! This has been incredibly helpful. I feel much more confident about handling these requirements now.

You're welcome! It seems overwhelming at first but becomes routine once you get the systems set up.

I'd recommend applying as soon as possible after you lose your job. Even if you're not sure about the exact benefit amount, you don't want to delay and miss out on weeks of potential benefits while you're figuring out the calculation.

0 coins

That makes sense. I'll file the claim this week and can always ask questions about the amount later.

Yuki Sato

Yeah, you can't backdate benefits very far so it's better to file early even if you have questions.

For what it's worth, when I had questions about my benefit calculation that the website couldn't answer, I ended up using Claimyr to get through to ESD. The rep was able to pull up my exact wage history and walk through the calculation step by step. Much better than trying to guess based on the general formula.

0 coins

That sounds really helpful. I think I'll try the online calculator first and then use a service like that if I need more specific information.

0 coins

Smart approach. The calculator gives you a good estimate but sometimes you need to talk to a person for the details.

Just remember that even with good cause, unemployment benefits are temporary. Use the time to find something better, not just to get away from your current job.

0 coins

Absolutely. I'm viewing this as a chance to find a better situation overall.

good thread, learned a lot. didn't know you could quit and still get benefits under certain circumstances

Max Reyes

It's not widely known but it's an important protection. Just has to be legitimate good cause with proper documentation.

0 coins

Same, thought quitting automatically disqualified you from unemployment.
