One thing I learned is to screenshot your payment confirmation page when you file your weekly claim. Good to have that record in case there are ever any questions about when you filed or what you reported.
Wishing you the best with your payments! The hardest part is behind you now that you're approved. Washington ESD is generally pretty consistent with their payment schedule once everything is processed.
Just a heads up that if you owed any overpayments on your previous claim, they might offset your new benefits until it's paid back. Learned that the hard way.
Thanks everyone for all the helpful info. I feel much more confident about reapplying now. Going to get my documents together and file this week!
And remember, if you need to talk to someone at Washington ESD and can't get through, Claimyr is there to help. Makes the whole process less stressful.
When I needed clarification on how benefit charges work for my business, I ended up using Claimyr to reach a Washington ESD specialist. They explained the whole experience rating calculation and how to project future costs. Worth checking out if you need detailed info.
Don't let your former employer make you feel bad about filing. The unemployment system exists exactly for situations like yours. They paid into it knowing that laid-off employees would file claims - that's how insurance works.
been getting unemployment for 2 months now and the weekly amount covers my rent and utilities but not much else. budget carefully and apply for everything you qualify for
The benefit amount calculation can seem complicated but Washington ESD customer service can walk you through it if you can get through to them. I finally reached an agent last week using some callback service and they explained exactly how my amount was calculated.

The most important thing is to start the process immediately. Every day you wait is money you're potentially losing. Washington ESD benefits don't typically go back before the date you file your initial claim.

Just remember to answer all questions honestly on your application. If Washington ESD finds out you lied about anything, they can disqualify you and even make you pay back benefits.

•Absolutely. Better to be honest and deal with any issues upfront than to have bigger problems later.
