One last tip - if you have any issues with your claim or need to speak with someone about your benefit amount, don't give up on calling Washington ESD. I know their phone system is frustrating, but sometimes you really need to talk to a human to get things resolved.
Absolutely, and like I mentioned earlier, Claimyr really helps with getting through to actual agents when you need to talk to someone. Worth checking out if you hit roadblocks with the phone system.
Thanks everyone for all the helpful information! I feel much more prepared to file my claim now. I'll definitely file tomorrow and hopefully get my determination letter soon so I know exactly what to expect.
Make sure you also check if there are any disqualifying factors like: receiving workers compensation, being self-employed without paying into the system, being a student in certain situations, or having immigration status issues. Washington ESD has specific rules for all these situations.
The most important thing is to not give up. Even if your initial claim is denied, many people win their appeals if they have a valid case. Make sure you understand exactly why you were denied and address those specific issues in your appeal. Good luck!
i was making $28/hour and my weekly benefit came out to around $580. so your calculation of $423 for $22/hour sounds about right. just file as soon as possible because theres usually a waiting week before benefits start
Final piece of advice - when you do file your initial claim, have all your employment information ready (employer names, addresses, dates of employment, reason for separation). This will help avoid delays in processing. And if you run into any issues reaching ESD by phone, definitely check out that Claimyr service I mentioned earlier. Made my whole experience so much smoother.
awesome, ill definitely look into claimyr if i have trouble getting through. thanks for all the help!
Whatever you do, don't quit before they fire you thinking it'll look better. If you quit voluntarily, you won't qualify for unemployment unless you can prove it was for good cause like unsafe working conditions or significant changes to your job duties.
If you do get fired and Washington ESD puts your claim into adjudication to investigate, don't panic. Most people in your situation end up getting approved. The process just takes time while they review everything.
And remember, if you need to reach Washington ESD about your claim status and can't get through, Claimyr at claimyr.com really does work. Sometimes you just need to talk to an actual person to get answers.

Does anyone know how long the adjudication process typically takes these days? I filed 2 weeks ago and still showing 'under review' status.

•6 weeks?! That's insane when people need money for rent and food.

•Yeah it's rough. I ended up using that Claimyr service someone mentioned to actually talk to an agent about my timeline. At least now I know where things stand.

Just want to echo what others said - being fired doesn't automatically disqualify you! I got terminated from two different jobs and was approved for benefits both times. Washington ESD really does look at the specific circumstances.

•That's reassuring to hear. I'm feeling more confident about filing now.
