One more thing - make sure you report ANY income during your weekly claims, even if it's just a few dollars from odd jobs. Washington ESD can cross-reference with tax records and if they find unreported income, you could face an overpayment notice.
Since everyone's giving advice, I'll add this: keep copies of EVERYTHING. Your initial application, weekly claims, any correspondence from Washington ESD, job search logs, etc. If there's ever a problem with your claim, having documentation makes resolving it much easier.
One more thing to consider - if you win your appeal, Washington ESD might also remove any disqualification from your record, which could help if you ever need to file for unemployment again in the future.
Good luck with your appeal! It sounds like you have a solid case with the documentation and witness. The process is stressful but don't let that discourage you from fighting for what you're entitled to.
Thank you everyone for all the advice and encouragement. I feel much more confident about moving forward with the appeal now.
You've got this! And remember if you need to actually talk to someone at Washington ESD during the process, Claimyr can really help cut through the phone line frustration.
i made the mistake of not reporting cash work early in my claim and when i finally called to ask about it the agent told me i needed to report it immediately and they'd adjust my past claims. it was scary but they didn't penalize me since i self-reported. honesty really is the best policy here
honestly i used that claimyr thing after seeing it mentioned here a few times. worked way better than trying to call directly
The bottom line is this: report ALL work, even cash jobs. Washington ESD has multiple ways to verify your earnings and the penalties for fraud are severe. But don't panic - most people who report work still receive partial benefits and stay in good standing with the system.
I used Claimyr last month when I couldn't get through to Washington ESD about my work history questions. The agent I spoke with was able to look up my exact wage records and confirm I met the requirements. Saved me a lot of stress and guessing.
Good luck with your application! The work history part is usually the easy part compared to all the other hoops they make you jump through.

Last thought - if you do end up needing to contact Washington ESD about anything related to your claim exhausting, I had success with that Claimyr service too. Way better than the regular phone system.

•Several people have mentioned that now. Might be worth trying if I need to talk to someone at Washington ESD.

•Yeah, when multiple people are recommending the same solution, it's probably worth looking into.
