Remember that if your claim gets denied for any reason, you have the right to appeal. Don't give up if the initial decision isn't what you expected.
Thanks everyone for all the helpful responses! I feel much better about the timeline now and know what to expect. I'll post an update once my claim gets approved.
I used Claimyr when I needed to talk to someone at Washington ESD about my claim getting stuck in adjudication. Couldn't get through on my own after trying for days. They got me connected in under 15 minutes and I was able to resolve my issue that same call. Worth it when you really need to talk to someone.
Just remember that even though you can file immediately, the process isn't instant. Between the waiting week and processing time, you're looking at 2-3 weeks minimum before you see any money. Plan accordingly and don't expect benefits to start flowing right away.
Make sure you also register with WorkSource Washington if you haven't already. It's required for unemployment benefits and you can do it online at worksourcewa.com. Plus it actually has some decent job search tools.
The system also asks about your availability for work and any restrictions you might have. Be honest but don't over-restrict yourself - it can affect your eligibility if you're too limited in what work you'll accept.
One more thing - make sure you have all your employment information ready. Washington ESD will need details about wages, dates of employment, and reason for separation for your last job.
Just want to add that Claimyr was super helpful when I had questions about my adjudication status. Instead of playing phone tag with Washington ESD for weeks, I got answers the same day. Really recommend checking out their demo video if you run into any issues.
Yeah, Claimyr is worth it just for the peace of mind. Washington ESD's phone system is notoriously difficult.

I got confused about the base period when I first filed. Turns out Washington ESD uses a 'lag quarter' system, so your most recent quarter usually isn't included in the calculation. That's why my benefit was lower than I expected.

•Yeah that trips up a lot of people. The base period is usually quarters 2-5 before you file, not the most recent four quarters. There's an alternate base period they can use in some cases if you don't qualify with the regular one.

•Wish they explained that better upfront. Would have helped set expectations.

For anyone still struggling to reach Washington ESD about benefit amounts or other questions, I found this service that actually works - Claimyr gets you through to real agents. Check out their demo video to see how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ. Saved me from weeks of phone frustration.

•Is that legit? Seems too good to be true that there's actually a way to skip the hold times.

•I was skeptical too, but it actually worked. Got connected to a Washington ESD agent in minutes instead of hours. They helped clarify my benefit calculation that I'd been trying to understand for weeks.
