Just want to add that if you disagree with your benefit amount calculation, you can appeal it. I successfully appealed mine last year when Washington ESD missed some of my wages from a previous employer.
Bottom line for retail workers: expect somewhere between $200-400 per week depending on your hours and wage rate over the past year. File immediately when you become unemployed, and don't stress too much about the exact amount until you get your determination letter.
I've been helping my neighbor navigate the Washington ESD system and the weekly payment schedule was confusing for her too. Once she understood that filing weekly claims is like punching a time clock - you have to do it every week to get paid - it clicked for her.
Just to add - if you're ever unsure about anything with your claim, don't guess. Try to get through to Washington ESD to ask questions. I used that Claimyr service a few times when I had questions and it was worth it to get accurate information instead of making assumptions.
Also make sure you understand the job search requirements once your claim is approved. You'll need to log your job search activities and be available for work. Washington ESD is pretty strict about this stuff.
One more tip - keep copies of everything you submit and take screenshots of confirmation pages. If there are any issues later, you'll want proof that you filed correctly and on time.
For what it's worth, I finally got through yesterday after calling at exactly 11:47am. Seems like there might be a brief window when agents come back from breaks or something.
The whole system needs an overhaul. It shouldn't take 20+ phone calls just to ask a simple question about your own unemployment claim. Glad there are services like Claimyr helping people navigate this mess.

This thread is really eye-opening. I had no idea unemployment fraud was so common. Are there any warning signs to watch for?

•Unexpected mail from Washington ESD is the big one. Also if your employer gets a notice about you filing for benefits when you're still working.

•I should probably warn my employer's HR department to watch for this stuff too.

FINAL UPDATE: Washington ESD confirmed the fraudulent claim is closed and they've flagged my SSN to prevent future fraud. The whole process took about 2 weeks once I got through to an actual agent. Thanks everyone for the advice!
