I went through this whole overpayment nightmare last year. Turned out my employer had reported my wages under the wrong quarter, which made it look like I was working more than I actually was during certain weeks. Once we got that corrected, the overpayment was removed.
For what it's worth, I've used Claimyr twice now for different ESD issues and it's been worth it both times. Way less stressful than trying to get through on your own. Their video demo really shows you what to expect.
I think I'm going to try it. The regular phone system is just too frustrating and I need answers about this overpayment.
Same here - I finally got through to ESD using Claimyr and got my adjudication issue resolved. Sometimes you just need to talk to an actual person.
One last thing - be prepared for identity verification. Washington ESD has gotten stricter about that lately. You might need to upload documents or go through additional verification steps.
You're in good shape based on everything you've said. File online this week, keep good job search records, and don't stress too much about the process. Washington ESD processes most straightforward claims pretty efficiently once you get through the initial application.
hang in there everyone. unemployment sucks but it's temporary. focus on the things you can control - job applications, keeping healthy routines, using available resources

This thread is gold for anyone who's never filed before. Wish I had found something like this when I was first laid off years ago. Would have saved me a lot of stress and confusion!
Actually, I had a similar experience with Claimyr when I couldn't get through to ESD about an adjudication issue. The regular phone lines were useless - kept getting disconnected after waiting for hours. Claimyr got me through to someone who could actually explain what was happening with my claim. Worth checking out if you hit any roadblocks.

I think the confusion about benefit duration comes from people mixing up the benefit year (52 weeks) with the maximum weeks of benefits (26). Your benefit year is how long your claim stays active, but you can only collect benefits for up to 26 of those weeks.

•That makes total sense! So I have a full year to use up my 26 weeks of benefits if needed?

•Exactly right. If you work part time or have gaps, your 26 weeks can stretch across more calendar time within your benefit year.

The whole washington esd system seems designed to be confusing sometimes. At least the online account makes it easier to track your remaining benefits than it used to be with the old system.

•Yeah the online portal is pretty helpful once you figure out where everything is located.

•Still can be frustrating when you need to talk to an actual person though. That's when services like Claimyr really come in handy for getting through the phone maze.
