For anyone wondering about timing - I filed my claim on a Tuesday and got my first payment the following Thursday. But I had a straightforward case with no complications.
Bottom line - the benefit amount varies widely based on your work history. Best thing to do is file your claim and see what you qualify for. Don't wait because benefits are backdated to when you file, not when you became unemployed.
Good luck with your application! The hardest part is just getting started. Once you get your first payment you'll feel so much better about the whole situation.
SUCCESS! I finally got through to Washington ESD (took 4 hours of calling) and they confirmed my 1099-G was sent to my old address. The agent updated my address and emailed me a copy within 10 minutes. Persistence pays off!
4 hours? That's insane. This is exactly why services like Claimyr exist - to save people from this kind of frustration.
Final update from me: I ended up using Claimyr to get through to Washington ESD about my missing 1099-G. The whole process took about 20 minutes and the agent emailed me the form immediately. Wish I had done this weeks ago instead of trying to call myself repeatedly. Sometimes you just have to accept that the system is broken and find a workaround.

One more thing about timing - if you're switching from regular unemployment to extended benefits or any other program, there might be a gap in payments while they process the transition. Don't panic if there's a delay during program changes.

•Hopefully I won't need extended benefits but good to know just in case!
